[RMXP]Wendia: Silentium Of Ventus

I'm just going to do a rundown of my thoughts on this.  :smile:

Story
The story, for some reason, reminded me a lot of the newer Zelda games, especially Wind Waker, what with the winds and all.

The story is pretty average to me. Nothing really phenomenal. But it does seem well written and seems like you've thought this out really well. It seems a bit cliche, such as "main character being child of someone great" especially how the Oracle wants to see only Tamina. I'm sort of guessing that she is somehow a "chosen one" and only she can save the world. It could be something completely different, but right now that's what I'm seeing.

The "temple being the source of the winds" distinctly reminds me of the Greek god Aeolus. Was that perhaps one of your inspirations, or am I grasping thin air here? :P

And then I read that Tamina must journey with her friends to rescue the stolen Arcs to save the world. Oh no. That's not good. Er...Let's just say I'm not a huge fan of this part. Believe me, I hope this doesn't turn into another uninspired game about traveling to the Fire temple, Ice temple, etc. to recover the Arcs. Sorry if I seem like I'm judging your game without even playing it, that's simply what I see. I think you should really rethink that a bit. Who knows, it could be different, but what I see is another game to journey the world and recover the (insert ancient artifact here).

Characters
Well, I like the characters a bit more than the story. Unfortunately, Tamina sounds like the cliche protagonist of so many RPG's. And why is it that 99% of games that have a female hero have to have a male best friend? Don't tell me-do they fall in love? Zabath is a bit more interesting, although just a bit. Marica and Marche seem like better characters to me. Remember what makes good characters-interesting personalities that connect with the player, well defined goals, etc.

Screenshots
I definitely think maps are your strong point. They're all done with skill and look great, especially the outdoor ones. I think the overlay may have been overdone just a tad. Also, I don't like your font very much. It doesn't seem to suit the game very well.

You're using the Default Battle System (with a few add-ons) which is fine, although I'm not a big fan of it. I'm not askign you to change it, but what will make it stand out from others? What makes this battle system more fun than others? (By the way, I'm not asking this personally, just trying to say what you should put in your thread  :thumb:)

The indoor maps aren't quite as well done as the outdoor ones. I think they could use a slight tint brighter to make them seem more like the outdoor ones. As you said, you're still working on them, and I'm glad, because the red in them stick out like a sore thumb.

The new village one is gorgeous. I especially love the waterfall and the river. Really, I don't have anything to say.


Anyways, if I sounded like I was trying to insult your game, I wasn't. Just trying to give a few pointers. I wouldn't make this long of a post if I didn't like your game, so good luck with this. Can't wait for a demo.

(Also, I don't think you need to list Enterbrain and yourself as some of the credits :P)

There will be no traveling to different temples, or anything like that. I've everything planned, so you will see when you've played the game :)

No, Im not using the defualt battle system. Im using the RTAB :P. And Im currently waiting on an edited version of the RTAB, so there will be a battle system with only 2 characters.

And don't worry, I didn't take your points as an insults. All points are welcome, nd I only see them as positive feedback.
 
Marica? damn I can't help but laugh at that name, it basically means "fag" in spanish but it's a damn old word, well not everyone speaks spanish though so it might just be me.
The screens look pretty good, I like the idea.
 
Quick note on the last screenshot- excellent, almost perfect.  But for the apparent theme, you might try adjusting the screen tone to a warmer orange (just faintly).  The other note is the bridge again, the bridge is a tile too long- the cliffs rise 2 tiles, but the bridge rises 3- even though they're seemingly on the same plane.  And I already mentioned the other bridge (although I must say it's improved, it still is a bit out of perspective.)

And this is my new screenname, btw.

Edit : : You might consider making another slight modification to the RTP- the "rounded" corners of land, and the square fence corners- these are simple to change from rounded to a straight angle.  It really makes a big difference.  I have the files from one of my own projects if you want to do some cut and paste.
 
I suggest that you to NOT put up any sprites (full of them) such as the tamina sprite, unless you dont want people to steal it and use it on their own game WITHOUT crediting you or anything like that. I suggest you to just show the front of the sprite instead (1/16).
 
If they steal and don't credit they'll get banned for plagiarism. Gotta say I love the Marche sprite. This looks pretty solid and a demo or something playable would be nice, I look forward to it.
 
From what I see in your screenshots, you're mapping is good. The story is different, but interesting nonetheless

Thx for the comments everyone. I've been gone on a vacation for 1 week, and haven't worked on this during this time. However, my new battle system has arrived, so Im going to take a look on it today.
 
Update:

The edited RTAB has arrived now, and works perfectly! The only thing that's missing now is the battlers for the system, so no screenies of it yet^^

Some new systems will be fixed for the game aswell. The game has a new title screen also, which is using Mogs animated title screen.

The mapping is quite good, but there are no carpets shaped like that (Think about it, ,,remove the room" and only see the carpet's shape. You will say ,,Oh my god"
And I dont get why would people put 2 same-looking flags right next each other, and nobody would have a statue in his/her house, or grow flowers in a windowless room.

Sorry for not posting here in awhile. I've been very busy lately, but now, Im going to start working on this again :smile:

Thank you :). Becuase of the christmas, the game will have a small break, and will get back in January. My plan is to finish a demo in either February or March, but I can't promise anything :(
 
The screen shots are spectacular and your outdoor mapping is simple breath taking.
As for the story it self, its cliche but it seems interesting. I think it can go a lot of ways, and I have my hopes up for this game. Definitely will download it once a demo is released.
 
Okay, Christmas is now over, and Im going to work on this again.

Im currently thinking on changing battle system. Im currently using the RTAB, but Im planning to change it to TBS instead. Do you people think I should change it over to TBS, or should I stick with RTAB?

Yes, TBS as in Tactical Battle System. Like the Fire Emblem and Shining Force games. There's plenty of TBS system to choose from, but Im planning to use ZTBS. It's easy to use.
