Norse Mythology Kinda involve in my Story though

VX has a better scripting system while XP has a a better mapping system. Thats about the only difference in the two besides VX using 3 frame sprites and XP uses 4 frame sprites, while with scripting you can give 3 frames to XP or 4 frames to VX, so there really isn't much of a difference the more you look at it. Both development programs are equally good in their own respects.

As for the game in general. I am Christian, but I don't give even a half penny's worth about the religious aspects in this game. A game is a game, it tells a story for what it is, I could care less what religious background a game uses as long as it is good and keeps my attention.

My game Kailis, uses its own form of religion, however I also have multiple gods in the game, however some are more in the background as opposed to being in the foreground and becoming a major part of the storyline right away.

Lots of games are cliche, that's because pretty much any idea has been thought of before or even done before, so really there is nothing "new" we can create, however we can fix and improve these "old" ideas and make them "more new". He is thinking outside the box with this game, however he is taking the traditional ideas of "sages, stars, icons" and making them into something that works with his game, it isn't like he is stealing the sages from the Legend of Zelda series and calling them his own by giving them a new look, different name, and quite possibly a different personality... yet they all do exactly the same thing they did before.

Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask... great game y'all should go play it... It uses the fact the Moon is evil, and is coming to crash into Termina at the Clock Tower. You as Link, in a fantasy world, stop the Moon from doing just that, and infact not to ruin the game, they end up stopping the moon in its tracks, preventing its movement. It has been a while but I forget if they blow it up or not, however that is irrelevant.

The concept of using the Moon has been used before, using verses from the bible has been done before, using religions we have today in new concepts has been done before, the whole sages things have been done before... Only thing is, he is making these ideas new again by focusing them around a story of his game, which with a good bit of work from what I've seen, it is shaping up to be pretty good and could prove to be quite a fascinating game.

So with all that said, keep up the good work and don't let people with their hard-headed stereotypes, mindsets, and religious pig attitudes get you down... This game has much potential if you work at it well enough!

I get that a lot. No, but really I'm glad to see you say that, I'll keep an eye out on this. Keep adjusting ideas around, play with them some so they could have potential near the end of the game, or the battle system, or anything in general to the game.

I've played with ideas on Kailis for 7 almost 8 years now, so I guess I can say I know how it goes; However, my game is getting to the point where now that everything lines up, makes sense, and plays out correctly, there isn't much I "can" change. I do think when I get deeper down into the first game I may have to toy with older ideas that I think will work now, but may not be able to work once I get to that point.

Thats actually not true.. VX System is way better than XP's both scripting and mapping.. that ppl dont have the minimum idea how to use it isnt VX's problem :( lol... ARRIBA LE VX!
 
RMXP has 4 layers of mapping capabilities with events included, as opposed to VX's 3 layers. The mapping is better in XP, more layers mean better detailed maps.
 
not really... have u read buzz's tutorial?... lol its way better at vx... its just cuz the layers aint usable any more.. vx uses paralaxes instead... thats why its way better.
 
I think your game looks great. I love the story, religious and cliché or not, and I'll be waiting for a release very patiently. I also could help with just about anything BUT scripting. I'm not good with scripts. I can recolor, (sort of) sprite, and can event REALLY well. Just ask and I'll help and/or be a beta tester.
 
Am I the only one who thinks this seems much like some harem anime?

Anyways, it would really help if you could include some actual gameplay screenshots, so I could make a better decision of whether to go into a detailed review of this. So far, all I have is a picture of a fancy picture menu and a list of scripts you copied and pasted.

Whew, damn right it's been long since I posted here...
I've been really busy and kinda, well, I did stop making this game but I'm not fairly giving up on it. Though I MAY be dropping the storyline or use it some other time. Which I'm sorry to say, I'm not allowing you to take on the story just yet, but maybe soon eventually.

Actually, I'm planning to revamp the whole thing. The story, the characters... But not the title though (I hope. Arrggghh I'm confused).

The reason is because I lack help (scripts, graphics, etc...) and ideas for completing the original Moonlight Abyss plan/story. And the new ideas I've come up with are more vivid than before (plus simpler scripts, graphics, etc... so not much help is needed), but way too unrelated to just use it for improvement. Though, I'm only "planning" it so it's not 100% sure yet (I'm sorry but I'm really messed up at the moment. Too many things in mind, too many work to do, lots of things to study, etc...), meaning I might not change it after all (If I get enough help and time).

Before I edit/update my first post, here's a trial presentation of the revamp:

A harper speaks...

Intro:

"Ah, you have come. I anticipated this very moment. I am deeply gratified...

Dear fellow, let me ask you...

What does it really feel like to be alone?... To be afraid?... To be hated?...

Well, some have suffered these heart-breaking emotions...

And in this extraordinary tale that I will tell you shall give you insight...

How extraordinary and why, is for you to find out..."

Prologue:

"Papa?..."

"What is it child?"

"Is it going to kill us?"

"..."

"*sniff*"

"Now now, don't cry..."

"But..."

"*sigh*... No it won't... not before me and the other townsfolk kill it... so go back to bed."

".... Ok... be careful..."

The moon was full that night, and she glowed like never before. The stars around her were shining, blinking at each sound that played from the strings.

The strings... such gentle music it gave... It was strange, and gave an eerie feeling...

It was dark, but the sky is clear...

The night was so beautiful, but was too good to be true...

"There it is! I see it! Let's go!"

"Light more torches!"

"Right there! Hurry!"

"Arn above! Protect us!"

Arn is what they had referred the moon. For they think of the moon as a Goddess, her luminous elegance, and her radiance deserved to be recognized, to be worshiped.

Though tonight, it seemed she had forsaken them for she allowed such troubles to be brought upon them. More likely, it is as if they were punished... but for what reason?

"Dammit! Don't tell me we lost it?!"

"I'm afraid I might have to say so..."

"*grunt* Alright, we should head back for now. Let's look for it tomorrow..."

Kern Kindregan

The main protagonist of the story. He had been alone and traveling all his life.
Since he left his village at very young age, he had never found peace (not that he ever had even in his own home) and kept moving forward, not looking back to where he had been.

Kern's love interest. They met each other when Kern had stayed in a small town, resting from his traveling.

Notes:

The story is based on Charles De Lint "Wolf Moon" novel. The game is actually going to be a prequel. I have already asked about the legal rights and stuff in another thread on RM Discussion so please don't post anything regarding that.

I know I haven't really stated the plot of the story. It is because I don't want to spoil the story just yet. I will eventually as I progress.

My actual plan is to get 'fragments' from the novel (flashbacks) and broaden it and stuff. I think it would be easier that way because I know where the story ends and I have a basis rather than nothing at all.

Again, the story will be cliched (what isn't?) but I will try to present/execute it uniquely.

I'll improve it as soon as I can (or as soon as better ideas pop up).

Is this even the same game? I have to ask, because it seems like the only thing you haven't changed is the title of the game. I think just a little too much revamp.
