Quintessence: The Blighted Venom

Quintessence - The Blighted Venom

Wow, that map looks great, Reives!  :thumb: The only thing I can recommend is what erichermit said.
I don't know if I've ever told you this, but I've always loved the color scheme you have going in quintessence. It's much more pleasant to look at than the bright happy colors of the RTP.

Also, that "Bridge to Nowhere" really has me curious.

I lol'd... I don't think I've ever heard someone say something was more 'pleasant' than something with 'bright, happy colors'.

Heh...
I guess that was worded a little weird. I laughed too once I noticed it, now.
what I meant was, it looks better than the saturated colors of the RTP  :tongue:

@Zammy:
Thanks. It was Nadir's Canon that inspired me to recolour and stuff, heheh - Quite a long time ago.

@Rpg Gamer19:
Hm, I shouldn't to give any estimates right now, as things have been going slower than expected, so it can really fluctuate depending on what's done during Christmas break.

@Injury:
Hey guy, haven't seen ya in a long while! Good to have you here again, and thanks. :smile:

Here's very fun fan-music arrangement by James McGlocken (a different James from the one I am collaborating with on Quintessence's soundtrack!):

^Can you tell which song from Quintessence that is arranged from? :tongue2:
Makes me want to make a 16-bit mini-game just to use it, hahah. Many thanks to James!

This sounds like song from program to the little children xd funny and like that erichermit said, this is suitable to the play minigame on Oikon *only*, cuse that on others, it is not very match

I just had a flashback to my days of watching '8-Bit Theatre'...

I just downloaded this and... I don't even know what the hell to do from the very start of the game, I'm forced to turn those things and they don't give me no clues like "Hey stupid, point them all that way" or "Look dude, its supposed to look like that". Any help?

Stealing the spotlight from Reives here but,
Watch the blue circle and see when it lights up. When you reach a correct position for a peace, it should get lighter (light up basically).

Whoa... Kain's still around!

Just saying, if you need help with puzzles and stuff, go the the website provided in the help file. I did most of my puzzles that way (too lazy to figure them out myself)...

Thanks for helping Ranashii. By the way, that is actually the subtle method that I didn't expect most people to use - the other and most standard way is to simply turn off the lights on the pedestals one by one and switch between that and moving the thing on the wall; should be pretty obvious once you turn them off. c:

And aye, feel free to do what Jayden said if future problems arise; probably quicker to get a solution that way.

P.S. The fan arrangement song on the last page probably won't be used in the actual game as its style is retro and too cool to fit in - it'll just be displayed on the site after the reconstruction in the near future.

You should make a little 8-bit section as a minigame, kinda like Star Treck Elite Force did (if you wanted, you could go down a pipe at one point and basically play the original Super Mario Bros game with the Star Treck dude)... That would be sweet!

Thank you for the PM, after I got past that very first part the rest of it just came to me, this game is indeed very fun now! (Y'know, that clue you gave me is not-so obvious in game, you'd have to be a true observer to notice that, or maybe I'm just blind). The stories in the previous version I played (I think you only had up-to part 6 done) was okay but this time around its a vast improvement, the action scenes actually have more "action" now too!

Thank you for the revision (especially the beginning of the game), I give it a :thumb: x 2 !

Now I gotta shut up, the game is waiting on pause :D

Thanks, and thanks for your time - Also, sorry again for that puzzle's "normal" mode screw-up in Chapter II, heheh; will get it fixed in the next release.
And hm, were you perhaps playing the version that was up the first couple of days from release date? I think the earlier one didn't have the indicator arrows here:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v385/ ... Arrows.jpg[/img]
^The purplish arrows around the pedestals.
------------

P.S.
I've been working on a little side project that I've been wanting to make for a while now. Its name is "Do You Remember My Lullaby" - I am also submitting it as an entry for the Winter contest thingy. It is just a non-interactive short story, and will be released in a few days. c:

Focus on Q:tBV ._.

I've been bored out of my mind lately and need a new chapter... Maybe I'll play "The Mirror Lied"... But keep working on this >:| *whips you and your staff to make them work faster*

;)

No it had the arrow indicators and the different colored lights on the floor, I just didn't notice the colored orbs at first. The beginning of the game just throws you right into the puzzle, supposing that anybody can just be able to figure it out without a clue, I had no idea why I was turning the lamps on/off. Not that its a hard puzzle, its actually really easy but even easier to overlook.

After so many times talking to your allies, one of 'em should tell you something like "Wow, you really forgot didn't you? Well, perhaps the colored orbs on the floor provide some kinda clue." Other than that, the rest of the game so far has been pretty easy (except the Clock on normal mode lol) :P

Ahh, I see. Aye, I suppose it's always good to make the beginning as obvious as possible; I'll try to make some accommodations to that. c: I think one of them says something about the colours, but in a subtle way. Thanks for the heads up.

Some updates:
Quintessence has been on a short halt as for the past couple of weeks due to the production of the project mentioned in t he following paragraph, but will start going at full speed in the near future, after the above project's release in the next few days. It is certain that pre-Christmas release is out of the question now, but rest assured good progress will be made, and frequent updates on the Making Of Chapter X thread on the home forum will resume!

In the mean time, I have been working on a small side project that I've been wanting to make for a while now; and it is almost complete.

Click Me: (New) Sample music track.
(Website there not yet ready. :P )

Also, remember the one who sang Drift, Quintessence's ending theme?
Laura Shigihara's game, The Blue Star, has now released its second demo:
http://www.rmxp.org/forums/index.php?topic=42176.0
Give it a look!  :smile:

About time it's done.  :smile: I was waiting for Quintessence to get back on its track, but seeing as you took this minor detour, my hopes and dreams of a pre-christmas release are over.  :down:

Anyway, I'll play this if I get the chance because I'm going to be away for 10 days from Sunday.
