Quintessence: The Blighted Venom

Quintessence - The Blighted Venom

@Lust & Speed:
Thanks, it's probably my favourite chapter too. :> Hopefully chapter VI will be able to beat this one!

@Lisker:
Heheh, glad you caught that. It was an optional event, so many might've missed it. :p

@Arlo:
Thanks for giving it a try! I see that you are a musician too, so rock on. :> (p.s. how can you manage a full time job and full time college at the same time? D: Teach me.)

Are you serious? Oh my god, you should of made that non optional, that is like the best ever.

Make a conditional branch and set it to if [Switch 1337: Vikon funny] == on
then continue rest of story!!

XD

Rofl, I'll keep that in mind.
----------------------
P.S. During my current short break from the project, I'm playing Chrono Trigger for the first time - it's been inspiring so far. :> Hopefully I can learn a few tricks from it.

D: Wow, thanks!!! XD

I especially love the eyes, they're done just like in the face-sets. The expression is great as well. Awesome job, I'm flattered! :>

Makes me want to implement cut-scenes with enlarged sprites. :p

Mm, I just finished composing a resource trade song, but the evil me requested the permission to use it in Quintessence too. :p

Fleeting Hearts:

Feedback welcomed, and thanks for your time. :> The song is exclusive to/(c) <Interim> and <Quintessence - The Blighted Venom>, so can't be used, sorry. :<

Edit: Oh, and here's a new piano piece by (my compositional teacher, yet a year younger :p) James, the primary composer! It's still not finished, but the general idea's there. :>

Quintessence is another game of which I adore. It bring faith into what rmxp can do, the story line is wonderful and the music is amazing. I always look forward to updates for this.
Thankyou,
Dagger

Ah, thank you!
Honestly when you PM'd me to play, and I had to reread the first post while DLing, I was afraidz =X. It looks a lot cleaner, nicer, and more -no offense- professional. The 1st post I mean. Glad to see you kept it personal with some charm, which not enough people do now-a-days. That and your explanations on the cinematic scope are always a good warning :p.

Good luck once again.

Thanks Speed and Dagger! :>

By the way, I deleted the old first post and made a new one - should've done so a long time ago, the old one was a huge tedious block.

The clean-up on the first post is great, removed lots of things and shortened it a lot. Good job. :thumb:

Heheh yep, the overhaul of the first post was long over-due. I basically just squished more things on there without erasing the old ones everytime I updated. D:

I've taken enough of a break, and am ready to get back to work again. However, I have a chain of exams and assignments coming up, so that might cut in a bit. A lot should definitely be done during Christmas "break" though.

The release date of Chapter VI is not yet set for certain right now, but I am expecting sometime during late December if extremely lucky, but most likely January. Once I start getting some progress, I'll surely post some updates here. :>

(Every time I listen to the ending theme Drift, I have the ending scenes pictured in my mind and gets some good motivation, hahah. Here's mp3 version of the song on a slower tempo and lower register, by the way):

[At some point in time, I might try to find someone to sing it. D: ]

By the way, don't forget that for the actual BGM soundtrack, James Q. Zhang is the primary composer and have contributed greatly, so kudos to him! :> )

Edit:
Yay for 40th page - Thanks everyone!! :) Quintessence wouldn't have made it this far without ya guys' support!

To celebrate this topic's 40th page, I present to you...2 bug reports! :yes:

LOL, talk about being killjoy. :)

I've decided to play Quintessence again right from the start and I've found 2 errors(so far...).

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j252/pathbinder/fence.png[/IMG]

Upper left - The fence is unifinished.

Upper right - The tree's shadow is opaque

Lower right - The tree's shadow's tips are cut off.

Grammatical error I presume. Actually, there's nothing wrong with the grammar in the caption, but the line before that said by Reivier has grammar issues. I forgot what he exactly said since the only thing wrong within the sentence is the words being in the wrong order, but you may want to take a look at it. :yes:

I would've uploaded more errors if I've played through chapter 3 and 4, but I've still got other works to do. :hmm02:

Everyones a perfectionist. You don't see me complaining about messed up textures in some of the best games. :|
I know! Way to nitpick a project that's obviously had a LOT of work put into it. Ugh, I probably wouldn't have noticed those errors unless I combed over each map actually searching for them. Anyways...

Congratulations on 40 pages!

Thanks guys. :> And don't worry, I really appreciate bug reports. pathfinder meant it in a helpful way, not picky. I'll get to fixing them, thanks for it!

Me and my sister have played through all five chapters...and it was amazing. The music, special effects, and dialog was exceptional. I love your appreciation for the English language, you show it by bringing each of the characters in Quintessence to life. Absolutely wonderful work, we can't wait until the next chapter is released.
