one game. one.
against how many games on xbox?
i dont know about you but really if you want to slap doen $700 on a SINGLE GAME (which is 75% MOVIE anyway) then go for it man. more power to you but hey if you have that kind of money to WASTE then care to send me a few hundred for things i could use it for. like food or school bills?
Oh yeah, let's pretend Metal Gear Online have cutscenes. And it's not 700+, it's 400 + 60. So, $460.
Plus, we STILL will have Resistance 2, Killzone 2, L.A. Noire, White Knight Chronicles, Dark Cloud 3, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, God of War III and a lot of other titles. Plus, one year ago the Xbox 360 had only Halo and Gears of War on good games list and 12 million units sold. PS3 is ahead of it's time. Well, Wii is UBER ahead, that's a fact.
I'm awake enough to answer this, and cruel enough to beat the wet cardboard logic of what I'm assuming is a high school kid.
• He meant MGS:IV. And I don't buy for a second that you're so dumb you can't tell the difference of what he's talking about.
• MGO? Oh wow, yeah... Or, y'know, GTAIV ONLINE, that you ACTUALLY HAVE (you own a PS3, right?) That'd be a better comparison. But you seem to live in a fantasy world were paying $15 to play any number of Xbox360 games which have been proven to be incredibly addicting and fun to... One game... Is a good idea. And, out of everything I've heard about MGSIV I haven't heard one shit about MGO, probably because it sucks donkey balls. Oh, Little Big Planet, another GREAT ONLINE PS3 GAME. But, why use actual good proof when you can just go off of the one game PS3 fanboys wet their panties over.
• Next point, umm, no. You can't just go "Let's close all our eyes and pretend the PS3 is cost effective and all of these games I'm going to mention are fun." This isn't pre-school story time, we argue facts when we get into heated nerd debates. All the games you mentioned are crap that only PS3 fanboys get excited over because they don't suck as much as 90% of the PS3s library. The fevor you use to tout them around only belies the sad truth that the PS3 has shit for games.
• One year ago the 360 had plenty of games that many people enjoyed... Which you should know because developers are only now getting around and throwing you a bone for your shitty expensive starved little Foreman grill of a system. I expect you'll all be telling us how exciting splicing is, or how much you enjoy harvesting little sisters soon.
The PS3 isn't ahead of its time, it's stuck in the same 90s way of approaching console development, and steals any good ideas Microsoft or Nintendo come up with. Sony's thinking is to throw fancy shiny hardware at console dev, but people don't want an expensive blu-ray player, they want to play good games. That's the one and ONLY brilliant idea to come out of Sony, getting strong third-party developer support to make FUN GAMES. Too bad nobody told them that anybody can make fun games and so they've been dragging their knuckles as far as indie support is concerned.
Nobody's going to need 80 gigabyte hard discs when people will WILLINGLY BUY 300meg 2d FLASH WEBSITE GAMES!!! Sony's own arrogance and obsession with expensive hardware has already proven to be it's undoing.
The Wii is hardly ahead of its time as well, as Nintendo has always existed in some strange alternate reality where it has little effect on game design. In fact Nintendo's decisions haven't been relevant since the early 90s. They come out with a million gimmicks for games a year and people occasionally use what sticks (Rumble Pack, Analog Control Sticks, Mode-7, Gameboy DS) while everything else just kind of dies out (Virtua Boy, Gameboy Camera, Mario Paint, Pokemon Snap, 64DD.) Nintendo is some Darwin-esque genetic nightmare that has a revolutionary idea every once in a while. They're not special, they just have idea cancer.
That said, the PS3 does have some merits:
• MGSIV is a fun experience
• Little Big Planet is fun in ways Spore never could hope to be
• You can watch Spiderman 3 in definition so high your eyes can't process the pixels
• They have a couple alright games
That's the problem, it's an experience that just isn't worth the cost. It's a waste of money. You can get better entertainment for cheaper, it's there. This fact is so obvious that even non-polarized fanboys like me are admitting that the PS3 just isn't worth it. I had all three systems for a little while, but sold the PS3 to get more Xbox 360 games. I own a DS and a PSP and I play my PSP far more often. So, I'm not some rabid Xbox fanboy, I'm a guy who normally enjoys Sony products, but I know Sony's a fucking soulless evil corporation that eats babies and frankly, with the PS3 they fucked up big time.
