In 2007, PS3 finally outsold the 360, and that was before MGS4. I personally own both systems (christmas presents), and I definitely like the PS3 better. The only gripe I have about the PS3 is the speed in which it downloads games on the network, but I'm expecting that to be better once Home comes out.
To help people make a decision between systems (though, it's pretty late to be doing that now), here's some information you missed:
The PS3 outsold the 360 in 2007, but only in Japan
The PS3 didn't outsell the 360 in America until 2008
And here's the actual sales figures for people who
give a shit about legit-ness. :P
However, it should be noted that the only reason the PS3 outsold the 360 in January was due to a hardware shortage. This was due to the strong holiday rush in January that Microsoft
underestimated. Ever since March the PS3 and 360 have been running neck-and-neck for top sales, one taking over the other each month depending on the games released.

My PS3 has never froze on me while playing any game (even while MGS4 was on for 9 hours straight), but the 360 has acted like shit. I truly believe the PS3 was made with much more tlc than the 360. Plus, my 360 has scratched 3 of my friend's games beyond playability because of how gay it is. I've tipped over (I have the system standing up on it's side) the PS3 a bunch of times, and, even while playing a game, it's never froze on me. Meanwhile on the 360, if I even shift it from it's side to flat, it goes to shit.
That's because you tipped over the system, something you're not supposed to do with any device that has a disc drive. We'll not get into why you're tipping your hardware back and forth, and we won't talk about how you're expressly told not to do that in the 360 and PS3 manuals.
The reason the 360 can scratch your game if you tip it is because it spins the game much faster than most disc drives. It does this to create faster loading times. Far faster than the PS3 (
anyone try Devil May Cry 4 on both systems?) So if you like playing games during earthquakes or enjoy kicking your system in a fit of joy, it stands to reason to get the 360. It loves you, even if it enjoys homosexual relationships with other consoles. Violent, aggressive relationships that end up scratching your discs during rumpus illicit sex.
It should be noted however, that older versions of the 360 have a history of software issues, however if you're buying a 360 made after 2006 you'll be fine... And lucky for you, most of the 360 systems on the market today are either the newest versions or have upgraded software.

Then there's the argument everyone hates/loves.. the PS3 comes with a blu-ray player, and (depending on what version you buy) comes with built in wireless capabilities, while with the 360, you have to buy 'addons' or w/e the hell you want to call them. You can also install another operating system on the PS3, and hook up just about any peripheral to the system, including printers, cameras, Ipod/MP3 Player (if you have one of those Apple P.O.S), keyboard, mouse.. You can go on the internet with it, lawl. Look at some porn while your game downloads. Oh, not to mention you don't have to PAY for your online service for the PS3.
This one has a lot of mistakes, so we're switching to bulleted lists:
• Blu-ray in my opinion is good if you have an hd-tv and like the thought of getting a few more pixels of definition. Frankly I, and many others, don't see nor care about the difference in definition. And the biggest flaw is that you're paying $200 EXTRA to be able to see movies with blu-ray. Most people who buy the system aren't going to buy blu-ray movies (I assume), so it's kind of a waste.
• The 360 has wireless as well. Hell, mine
came with two wireless controllers. They even included a free rechargeable third battery.
• I hadn't heard you could install an OS on the PS3 but apparently you can. Which is good since you'll need to look at porn while your games are installing. I find it best to play my games right when I get home, so I never had any use for browsing the internet on my 360 (I've done so with my Wii, but ultimately it's a useless hobby.)
However it should be noted that browsing for porn on my PSP is much better, as sometimes you want to look at porn but you're in a public space.
• You don't have to pay for the 360s online service, it's free actually. However, you do have to pay to play certain multiplayer modes (not all online games mind you, but a few like GTAIV or Rock Band require a gold membership for multiplayer play.) These games however usually come with one-month free gold memberships, on top of the free 2-3 month gold membership included with the 360 console. This is nice because there are a lot of fun online games for the 360, unlike the PS3... Sitting there... Alone... Looking at porn and contemplating your demise at the end of a dusty shovel.
• The 360 has two usb ports so you can hook up mice, keyboards, cameras, and even your computer to the 360 for all kinds of stuff.
