I just wanted to mention here that Fayte's podcast is amazing. If you haven't seen it yet, you have to. These guys make a great discussion panel. They're all very knowledgeable about video games, and they're entertaining. I was also surprised at how slick and professional the whole production was. I went on their show last week and they focused on me and my game and they gave me the opportunity to shine, and all the bug reports and recommendations for improvement they gave me separately. Today they just did their year-in-review broadcast. You should check it out: https://www.twitch.tv/triggeredtalktv

wow I haven't been to check this in a while but I really appreciate the kind words! We're continuing to grow more and more every day and building the best community we can. Thanks for coming on our show and showing off your game for our viewers!

we just dropped merch for our show. Things are going well for our little video game podcast. I’m super happy! Also inspired to get back into game making in some form.

You totally should Fayte! Maybe you could even discuss it a bit on your podcast or something...

---------------------

I've gotten sick of dealing with pixel art. So I've decided to take the plunge, and start using Adobe Animate instead... I'm still on the trial time atm, but it feels so good to be back on Flash! It will be just for graphics though; I'm not going to start making AS 3.0 games again, haha.

Whilst I was messing with the export functionality, I discovered that under the 'Export PNG Sequence' option you can toggle smoothness... it literally exports it with no AA! So could make some art in Animate, then export as sprite art essentially. But with the all the upsides of using Animate's vectors for resizing, ease of rotation and the like. I haven't tried doing any art at actual pixel sizes, so I'm not sure how well or good it would be if you tried to do art at 16x16 or something, but it's a cool option, what with the tweezing animations and scaling...

Finally moving to Animate has given me a fresh surge of creative energy. So I decided to shelve my troublesome Archer game for now, and return to making my own Pokémon game.

yeah, maybe! do we know anyone here that knows what it would take to create mobile app?

You could use Construct 3. It makes HTML5 games with drag-n-drop logic, and has built-in support for Touch and other mobile aspects like portrait / landscape detection. It also has a nifty 'remote preview' that gives a QR code and link so you can easily & quickly test it on mobile. You could even give those to other people and let them play it at the same time; you can even watch them play it! C3 has a whole bunch of built-in mechanics too, such as platformer, tile movement, pathfinding and line of sight to make game creation even easier. Though it isn't free to use, it is cheap and free to try out.

Here's an early example of one of my scrapped projects; sure I am using a mouse, but that's because I'm playing it on PC so I could record it. The backend is all built on Touch; I just have it so left-clicks register as Touch inputs.

I use Construct a lot, so if you needed help with it, I could always lend a hand.

Yeah that should be possible! I haven't touched multiplayer stuff personally, but C3 has built-in objects for multiplayer (using WebRTC channels), AJAX, XML or sending & receiving text messages via a WebSocket server, C3 even hosts a signalling server so you can connect peers to each other. C3 also has a Mobile IAP object to handle in-app purchases on iOS and Android (though I haven't used it before).
