Happy birthday to Bacon. At least get a piglet avatar or something pig related. I change mine a lot because I have multiple personality disorder. Around 53 according to my family, and spouse.

FF8 remaster on the way. That's nice, I guess. If they don't go above and beyond what the upscaled PC Mods have already done, then what more is there to love? Added content and extended scenes would be cool.
Are they going to add facial expression to go with their new character models? A new Chocobo World sidestory to substitute the PlayStation Pocket gimmick? Triple Triad Online? New cards? Give me something!

You know what would make the new FF8 awesome? If they got rid of the whole GF junction system, magic drawing, weapon upgrades, and malboros.

@Jason: Word! Because I definitely stopped playing once I realized that I could FINAY play grandia 3 and beat it so I’ve been binging that game. It’s hella fun. I loved grandia 2 and got super far in grandia 1 before losing my data and said screw this game.

FF8's magic system was originally suppose to be card based. Hence "draw" and the magic trading system. Imo, instead of having 30-some spells x100, the character's magic list should of had a cap, something like, 500 spells. Then any cards that weren't junctioned were at risk of being discarded if you "Draw" new magic with a full deck.
Or the capacity to hold more cards depended on the G.F.
Or maybe to Summon a G.F. you needed to sacrifice spells.
Or maybe instead of smashing square to 'Boost' a G.F. you sacrifice spells to add up their values.
That way the player has a reason to stock up on expendable magic, and not just farm and stop after they've got the 'best of the best' junctioned.
I always felt Leon's Card Battle tutorial in KH:Chain of Memories was appropriate. And in both FF8 and KH:CoM the final boss had an ability to disarm the player's spells/cards. Which, imo, was an underused mechanic.
Especially given the number of human enemies in FF8. They should be able to steal magic from you, and then you'd have to draw it back or risk losing it by killing them right away.

SO there I was, constructing a GIANT post outlining the purpose and function of genres. Why it's not taught in school. Why people are idiots and how it's mostly the fault of English language. Comparing and contrasting different genres with examples. How "Generalization" isn't a bad thing because the distinctions already exist; you're just giving them a name!
It was a beautiful rant. My best work. It was so intelligent. So thought provoking. So woke. I was going to light up the world!
But it was too glorious. And the browser page crashed as I ended a sentence.
