Post What's on Your Mind

I sometimes place MtG 2013 on my computer. I usually play Jace's blue deck. Rather than attacking, you force the player to discard his deck until they have no cards to play.
It's a little harder against opponents that get a lot of monsters out quickly and use 1/1 tokens.

But I like playing Planechase with 3 players. The AI is kinda predictable. It always go after the person with the fewest monsters to guard. Plus, by the time someone gets a crap ton of monsters out that would be impossible to guard against, someone will inevitably draw a plane card that forces them to shuffle or discard everything.

So I was sitting on the toilet. And I saw a bug in the sink that I flushed down the drain.
And the thought came to me: maybe the reason we can't find intelligent life in space is because segregation and isolation is the natural course of evolution. From a harmonious and tolerant standpoint, it's what's best for everyone's survival.

Then again. It's not like evolution is a one-way street with a final destination. I just figure, given enough time, these things would optimize themselves for survival. And well, evolving into something that's universally harmonious - like a sort of Giving Tree - isn't a very good survival strategy. But if harmony was the optimal means of survival, then maybe intelligence is an evolutionary dead end. Perhaps the universe is full of worlds older than our own that have already reached the pinnacle of life - mindless vegetation. So when sentient beings regard themselves as higher life-forms, they're actually much primitive in the grand scheme of things. Simplicity is the beginning and end, while complexity is the result of entropy, a chaos that eventually coalesces into a new order then spirals back to simplicity.

And then I flushed the toilet and washed my hands.

I'm just now learning that Ko-fi is for actual money donations. I started seeing it about a year ago "buy me a coffee"
I mean, I was always skeptical if it was actually coffee or not. It's not a stretch in my mind, because even poor people like me have a smartphone and my town just got a Starbucks a few years ago. So I figured, coffee was a big lifestyle deal in places. Or at the very least, it was going to an account to use at eateries. So like, reassuring people that their donations were keeping this person alive, or at least well feed, and they weren't using your money for something self destructive like drugs, gambling, or Nigerian princes.

Hey Hybrida, what's the deal with Android 21 getting all this attention? There's been other new characters introduced in past game storylines that were designed by Akira Toriyama too, like Dabura's sister Towa and Chronoa the Kai of Time.
But FighterZ isn't even out until next February and Android 21 already has more rule34 to her name than most.

We seek to communicate meaningfully with an alien species from a different ecosystem, but we have yet to do so with any of the millions of species here on Earth.

I know right. Kinda funny. 21 is my desktop background currently, but I still love Lazuli (18). Amazing what a set of glasses can do. More women is always a plus. I always had a thing for nerdy smart chicks.

Thankfully I'm very loyal to my own characters. Lazuli is the only exception. I just don't like other people's characters very much, no matter how attractive.... I'm sure it's ego related. LOL.

I think a lot of the desire to make communication with aliens is that people imagine it would bring with it a wealth of new knowledge very quickly; if the aliens are intelligent too we can check out their tech and maybe make something cool that improves our lives massively in a very short timespan.

Studying life here on Earth we managed to study all the easy options straight away and got good information immediately. Now we're studying the difficult to study stuff and we get results and information much slower. A conclusive study these days relies on multiple other research papers written prior over the span of a few decades, you don't really get a one-paper research study as often.

I consider the scenario that aliens would bring with them a load of new knowledge unlikely. I think the real situation is we'd detect a megastructure out in space doing something weird (like an artificial moon, giant satellite or a Niven ring - spotting weird shit in space is easy compared to analysing planets) but it would be so far away that we can simply look at what gases come off it and that's all we'll ever know about it. It would be really dumb to send a message in its direction, that's been largely agreed by the scientific community, just let them detect one of Hitler's radio speeches when those eventually reach the depths of space and then they can decide if they want to come over and find out how much of a legendary hero of interspace communication our civilisations considered Hitler to be.

Megastructures might even be abandoned. Civilisations die off, we might be the only one in this tiny, tiny snapshot of time that's intelligent at the moment. The rest of the universe had a few billion years to evolve and produce other civilisations. Intelligent humans are at the most only 3 million years old yet it's the past 100 years that we've developed such extreme technology with communication and rocketry - mostly thanks to World War II and how that led to the Cold War, the internet and absolutely everything our entire culture depends on at this moment.

Or tachyon communication. My ping being 0.1ms 800,000 light years away from the person I'm playing online with so sounds cool. Imagine no lag ever.

I need a new desktop microphone and headset (not connected, fuck that gamer bull-shit). Anyone got suggestions on headsets? I'm looking at Sennheiser out of hearing the brand name over and over again. Microphones all I know is the Blue microphones from all the YouTubers that have them.

I'm looking for the highest quality construction and sound, something that will last a decade. Won't be using it daily. Budget is high.

Anyone know anything at all? My audiophile friends are frustratingly silent (something tells me audiophiles don't actually know what they're talking about and are all posers).
