Xilef, thanks so much for the info. I read it at least three times to make sure I got everything. After the disaster that was my last Reddit post about my game, I decided not to take anything personally, and respond either positively or not at all. And now I can see the wisdom in not justifying anything. Justifying my decisions just comes across as argumentative and defensive. I need to consider the criticism and make a decision, and that's all. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.
I don't think the site has any glaring issues. HBG's decline is just a result of the migration of the RPG Maker community to Steam and Reddit IMO. Not to mention our most prominent veteran members -- to the RM community at large anyways -- have all moved on to do other things. Besides Xilef and Amy, maybe. vgvgf's project decryption tool from 2010 still generates 4% of traffic from Google, behind Holder's Graphicsgale palette tutorial at about 9%, a search for the site itself (keyword "hb games") at 25%, and the RTP standard at 45%.
That is of course if I'm reading the data correctly. Web analytics isn't exactly my forte.

It's almost been 10 years that I joined the Half-Kaizer Construction Project. For some reason autumn always makes me think of the HKCP. The sumac leaves start turning red and I would be like "I want to put that in a tileset".

First proper week in college went by super fast.
Met some cool people.

Second day was like "Never thought I'd enjoy talking about SDLC. oh and now I'm writing my personal statement."
Third day (today) was like "WELCOME TO HARDWARE YOU SUCK AND YOU'RE DUMB!"

We got the dirty part of the hurricane. The eye shifted and went to where people evacuated too. Kinda sad. Miami where I live was supposed to get the eye, instead it went to Tampa Florida.Xilef":18n1drm0 said:

I was thinking a Super Simple MMO, based in a platform world. Kind of like a Super Mario but with other players. I would limit my palettes, and use graphics similar to this:

OK, so you can only move from left to right. But I'm thinking if you come across a door, or a gap in trees, you can go inside them and end up in a map facing perpendicular to the world you're currently in. So that would give the world a kind of square shape to have some 3D quality to it.
The point would be to get the very basic world all set up first of all with everything working and finely polished, with new things added thereafter. All menus would be Super Simple, and even those would be limited to 256 colours.
