Yeah I think I'm going to redo the door anyway, it always has seemed a little off but since it was already done I never bothered to go back to it, but now that someone else points it out I'll get on it the next time I start messing with this, lol. And thanks for the compliment about the trees, I hate doing them but I reckon I've done pretty well, lol.

Righto so I DID redo the door but my computer screamed at me and shut down so when I tried to open the file back up when it restarted, it was corrupt, I lost it all, however, I managed to take the picture that I uploaded onto here and cut out all the tiles again, so now I'm back where I was before... and instead of working on the door (Actually I did, I changed the top bit SLIGHTLY) I've worked on the grass... sort of, remember this? Well I just sort of recoloured my own grass and it fits perfectly...

Since I've done the grass now I'll get onto making the paths look nicer, I'm following an invisible schedule y'see :P

Okay so I've just spent the last 20 minutes making the path into an autotile, and I'm really happy with how it turned out... and I've now taken a screenshot from ingame so you can see how it all looks together on a bigger map... which isn't done very well since it was quickly thrown together and I haven't made enough tiles to make anything interesting yet...

It's the lowest colour count I can get without it looking weird, it's going to be displayed at the 2x zoom (Second one across... duh), but the problem is, he looks TOO detailed beside the tileset I'm using (See my previous post(s) on this thread)... does anyone have any tips maybe? I mean, I'd happily keep him like that, it makes him pop in the tileset so I guess it's easy to see where your player is at all times or something, y'know, defines the characters from the environment so they don't blend, but meh...

o.o I'm not really good (YET) at doing things like this, but have you considered using a lighter black color? I mean, it might not stand out so much. Just my thought at any rate, so feel free to ignore it.
 
@noise: I like the heads, but the colours on the sprites you made with them look a little too saturated to me.

@Jbrist: I think he looks great! to be honest, I kind of thought it was meant to be like a doll or something, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
 
yeah it's cloud i made that one as a joke.

also i told you what i thought of those pieces in irc but like i said they are passable for the rtp style but the bench in particular seems a bit fuzzy for pixel art.
 
Nothing special but I wanted fuller more dense grass, I did alright for my first try I think.

I really like that bench, It's awesome.
In my own non expert opinion, the light post seems it could have more. I'm not sure what though, shading?

@LaDestitute: not a bad start, but you should definitely smooth those out more. They're looking pretty jagged right now.

Randomly wanted to make a Celtic themed tileset last night. So I started with a knot floor pattern and spent 3 hours messing the weave up. It started out more roundish. It's going to need additional connecting tiles to make the pattern look interesting over a larger area. I dunno if I can make this into an auto-tile or not.
