I felt like taking a break from coding, so I made a new avatar:

I think I preferred the old one artistically, as this design isn't very suited to pixel art, but this one is more relevant to what I'm working on. Now that I'm using it, I'm not sure that I like it, but whatever. Maybe I'll randomly change it later. I also updated the character design:

I am gonna make some kind of spooky shadow shader and smoke/trail particle effect for dungeons. It's gonna be pretty sweet.

I should sit down and actually design the tattoo properly at some point. Some parts of it are kinda weird-looking. In particular, I wanna work the astrological sign for Saturn into it.

I'm still not super happy with it, as it doesn't look nearly main character-y enough, but whatever I guess. I think it's better than the old one, anyway. It will probably go through more iterations.

That's actually the only part of the tattoo I've drawn. I was kinda making it up as I went. If I draw a better version of it, though, I'll post it.

Is there any specific inspiration for the tattoo, or are you just combining runic symbols and randomness?

It's supposed to be vaguely Hermetic, so I chucked in some alchemical symbols and astrological symbols and Greek letters and things like that. But beyond the mere inclusion of them, the design is mostly random. I will probably actually research Hermeticism at some point and revisit this again. Is there a reason you ask?

It's freaking awesome! If I get that as a tattoo, the only thing I would change is the eye. I have another tattoo on my left arm...

Oh, nice tattoo! It's really well done. But yeah, I see what you mean. The eye could probably be replaced with something. You might also want to cut off the tail on the symbol of Saturn at the bottom since it's asymmetrical.

I'm flattered that you're considering getting it tattooed! I suggest not getting it on your hand like my character, though, haha.

Oh, I also forgot to mention that it's also sort of designed like a circuit. There are supposed to be cohesive sub-glyphs, mostly contained in shapes, linked together like circuit elements.

Just for my own enlightenment, really. The tattoo looks pretty neat, and if I know the style then I can do my own research on the history and significance if I ever choose to develop a character with a tattoo.

Ah, okay. Well, it follows pretty strongly in the tradition of generic English occultism, plus my own spin on it as it applies in my setting. You might also look into Goetia. I also looked up generic magic circles and things like that made by other artists for inspiration.

Man, I'm reading the Lesser Key of Solomon for research, and it has all kinds of demonic seals and stuff that are pretty neat. Now I'm tempted to redesign the tattoo again...

Keeping this here for my reference later.

Seals for the particular demon you wanna summon. There are 72 of them.

Apparently you stand in the circle for protection and put the demon in the triangle when you summon it.

And then you show this to the demon when it shows up to force it into human form.

And then you use this to command them.

And this is more protection.

I decided I want to actually release something in the near future, so I decided to take a little break from my main project and work on a microgame in the same setting. I should post a thread when I have enough stuff for it. In the meantime, here's a character design for the microgame:

I am also attempting to design the main character for my microgame, but I'm having a hard time with it because I can't put her in a suit and she should really be wearing a suit. So I tried looking to Victorian fashions instead, but ehhhh, I don't know how I feel about this. I expect to be iterating on this, so I only did a quick sketch:

She is one part wizard, one part mercenary, and one part lawyer. She should be wearing something very professional, although if it's some kind of uniform for her organization, I can probably fudge the style a little (like I was trying to do here). If you're part of an old wizard organization, you can have a dated wardrobe, right?? Idk, I just don't know what to put her in that's not a suit, but suits are no go for reasons, so :\

Hey Peri is there any way you could put a libra symbol on the bottom of that tattoo? Just curious. I'm going to get it soon, but I was hoping you could do it up, and the artist doesn't have to do shit to it.

Sure, I'll take a look when I get home. Are there any other changes you want?

I already have an eye on my left shoulder, so if you want to get creative, or throw the black lodge zig-zag pattern in there, that would be rad! This will go on my right shoulder, it will probably be 4-6" wide and 10" long, centered to get all the lovely detail that's been put in.

Other than the eye and the libra symbol, I don't really want to mess with it unless you can think of anything a soulless ginger hybrid would want in a tat.
