Pencil Art Contest [Results Posted]

Er...I'm a little confuzzled. Can you just use ballpoint pen with no pencils at all or are you saying you may use pen WITH pencils. Meaning you have to use pencils, but if you'd like to add elements in pen you may?

Just wanted it a bit cleared up before I too have a go^^;

Meh. Pens? ONCE you couldn't use them! You had to work with only a pencil, and that is why this contest is called PENCIL art contest! *Old man's rants XD*

I'll keep a note of that if I start a new pencil art contest. In June maybe? Pencil Art Swimsuit Edition perhaps? haha I wish summer was here already.

I'm not going to change the rules after I started the contest. I've already started receiving entries!
I'm always worried about lack of interest. I thought about drawing an example piece to motivate or inspire, but it's a little early to worry about people not entering.

Ahh those dang pencil purists strike again! ;P I just like the challenge of drawing mostly in ink without making dramatic mistakes, but I was enticed by the theme mostly anyway.

Seeing that fangames aren't allowed, but how about those games that uses the same look like, for example:

Let's say I made a game named Revellion, and the heroine's name is Vera who's face is exactly  like Tifa Lockheart and her partner is Remuel, whose face is a Cloud Strife rmxp sprite.

Is that considered as a fangame? So what if I drew a scene from my game with a cloud and tifa clone because that's what they look like in my game. Is that not allowed?

And why aren't colored pencils allowed? And I kinda wanted to use them too  :crazy:

I guess in this case it can't be helped. But I'm sure you could draw them differently some how, in fact I encourage you too. 

With elements as a requirement in the picture I could understand why colored pencils would be desirable. But it wouldn't seem fair if someone with high quality art supplies did a full color photo while everybody else did a black and white drawing. Nah, I just made that up. I think there was only one case where someone actually used colored pencils. Everyone else stuck with pencils so I figured I'd just take it down.

I guess I need to clarify the no fan game rule. The fan game it's self isn't completely off limits.  But the pre-existing characters to that game are. If the characters are original, to the rpgmaker game that is, then it's ok. 
So if you titled your game Final Fantasy: Roman Numeral , but all the characters are your creation then your in the safe zone because they are original. But if the characters are from the actual series thats a no no. 

If your "original" game character just happens to look like a final fantasy character or whatever because of the graphics your using then I guess I'll have to except it since it's not really them.

There used to be a rule about keeping the art to yourself until the results were posted. Keep it a secret and all, but I always saw people posting there work in there Deviantart galleries before hand. The judges never did anything then, and its not against the rules now. So go for it. The important thing is that its all your own work.

No prob with pen being allowed, I just cry for color pencils being banned, cause they are still pencials... any chance that it changes?

Anyway, I will certainly enter this since a lot of cool artists are on too

oh my lord it's been so long since i rendered anything in Pencil this is like pulling teeth o_o... I MISS MY VECTOR ART ><!

i hate being rusty lol.

also i agree on the "no colored pencil" bit being heart wrenching. I'm awful at conveying an image without color XD.

yeah im rusty as hell too, this is a decent motive to hit the paper, a little competition to make me put in some more effort

Just a reminder. There is two weeks left before the contest closes. So anyone who wants to enter still has time. I understand a lot of people are finishing up school for the summer.

Btw, I'm still looking for judges. I'd like at least one other person besides my self to judge, 2 would be better. You can't enter the contest if you want to judge, and you have to be available the during the last week of may.
