Pencil Art Contest [Results Posted]

Ok...to digress from my dragon idea, I would like to suggest creating some sort of elemental creature.  This could be anything, as long as it's elemental (water, fire, ice, darkness, light, etc.)

lol I simply find it would be funner to draw a classic scene out of a anime or game that I like :P nothing more really, and yeah, I'm one of those people who uses funner :P

The point of drawing is to make something, not just copy what someone else made.  This is why I feel originality is a very important aspect of any art contest.  It's my opinion and suggestion.

:0! Well, with drawing a scene from a game you like is kind of like fan art--you're interpreting the game in your own way and outputting your interpretation on paper. Kinda like how in my art class we draw objects from life. Technically we're "copying" them, but through our own eyes. And if drawing wasn't about drawing what you are seeing, what about portraits and the like? :x And if you're worried about originality, xD there are caracatures too. When you put your own creative touch on things your drawing.



On another note, I like the element drawing suggestion too xD That seems like fun. And emotion still....

Pelica does have a point, but I'd still rather draw something from my game.  Perhaps make the theme as follows:

It has to be from a game, either one you've made or an existing one.
It has to portray an emotion (power can be considered an emotion).
An element has to be included in the drawing.

It includes everything that's been voted on more than once, so I think it's a good idea.  It gives a wide range while still having a common theme.

Wow at this rate the contest will probably start by the end of the week. Since everyone is agreeing on everything.

Btw, how do you guys like the amazon.com gift card idea as a prize? Can you guys think of something else thats within reason?
Edit: I could always make XP-style sprites. But money is a better motivator.

:0 Oooo good idea! I change my vote for Guardian's idea xD It has all the things I wanted to draw anyway. :0 Drawing from your own game is cool too because in the end you'll have some cool art to display in-game or something. O_O *flails*



Oh, and a gift card sounds awesome! xD The other day I was thinking I wanted to buy something there but I didn't have enough money! *wants to enter even more now* X_____x

I'd prefer an iTunes gift card, but not everyone has an iPod...yeah, the giftcard thing's a good idea.  Maybe an EB Games gift card?

If you want to draw a monster from a game, then that would work.  Dragons are pretty generic, so you could easily find a game that has one you'd like to draw.  It's the same with most monsters.

The winner could choose between a gift card or custom graphic.  That'd be more fair, I think.

Alright everyone. The contest has officially started.

I in the area of rpg maker games it must be original! It hit me that some one might try drawing pokemon of final fantasy characters. Since there are a lot of fan games out there (even if they aren't all completed).

I changed the rules a bit too. I took out color pencils, it seemed silly to allow it, and most people haven't used it anyways.
Also you have to have to be registered on the forums before April 19, 08. I doubt it would be an issue but I didn't like the idea of someone registering for the prize and never show up again.
Be sure to send an explanation of your work when you PM me.

Also, still looking for 2 more judges. They just need to be available the last week of May.

You have 5 weeks! GO!

No colored pencils?  I was so looking forward to adding a special effect. :tongue:  Whatever.  I'll do the original and then add the color I wanted.  The second one will be more for me than the contest.
