Master of the Wind (Complete!)

Oh comon... your just advertising...
Well, they did put the news in their site. They made it pretty clear that Arc V wont be released in a while, as well as Arc VI might be the last in the series.

@Reives: If you remember me, I'm Iris in CA XP

I've copied this announcement from our forums to clear up any confusion:

"A random comment on the forums morphed into a serious discussion between ArtBane and myself about the possibilities of having Arc VI as the final chapter of Master of the Wind. You see, Arc VI was always going to be a BIG one...full of revelations, twists and epic confrontations. It was going to end with the final battle about to begin, and VII was meant to be the payoff (plus some fun/informative sidequests). Now, though, we've decided to combine the content of both into one massive finale.

Make no mistake, the story will not be simplified, shortened or compromised in any way. If that were the case, I would refuse to do it. This arc will be absolutely frickin' ginormous....we're talking eight to nine hours, minimum. It's more of a matter of technical convenience, really. Ending each arc is a long process unto itself, with all the art, database work and testing to wrap up. It seems easier to go through this process once for a longer arc than twice for the same amount of material. The drawback is that there will likely be an extremely long wait for that arc. Hopefully you fans will stay faithful, and the idea currently being tossed around for side "episodes" will help smooth that over.

But of course, all this is thinking a little bit ahead of ourselves. There is still Arc V to complete, which we hope to be a powerhouse in itself. It's got the story of Stoic's past, an epic confrontation with Solik, the Hand taking further steps toward their broader goals, and of course....the face under Sparrow's hood.

Please look forward to it. And feel free to sound off on what you think of this new approach to the finale."

I might as well post my follow-up.

"It's strange to think now that after arc V is finished we'll be on the final arc. I truly believe though that it will feel like a more whole and satisfying experience than having all that build up in arc VI and then the conclusion in arc VII. Now you will be getting it all at once in the largest arc yet. When I said we will be cutting the fat I didn't mean that side stories would be taken out altogether. You will still have side scenes and hopefully episodes also to shine more light on many of the characters. Arc VI also won't be one long rmxp movie with scene after scene and a few gameplay segments scattered within. Arc VI will feature at least four dungeons with two of them being major ones. Hopefully that will ease any fears over arc VI being a rush job."

@Ayame: Ooh, I knew you had to be someone I've seen on here! Hey there.

@The news: Again, I believe that it's a good move. Since Arc 7 was supposed to be relatively trivial as far as the actual main story goes, it can be seen as a semi-filler - By ending it at 6, you can still do a 7 if you somehow get some sudden inspiration in the future, and no pressures if otherwise. Good luck on its production, and keep it up. c:

...Wow. Just looked at your sprites, and I have to say, a lot of them look fantastic. Seems like an interesting game, too. I may just have to download the first arc sometime.

I know it's really minor, but i just srarted playing this masterpiece. In port arianna, when Bones and Cade part ways to see there old ladies after they see the shop closed, if you talk to one of the 2 lunatic crazy people locked in the shed on the pier that Bones reacts to a rude "racist" comment (that's right.  in this setting undead are accepted, so theyre a race in my tiny brain), Bones still reponds as if he were there. Easily fixed by adding a switch on him.

Edit: the crazy blue water creature-esque looking man outside the weapon shop too.

PS: Love the dialogue, not enough amatuer games have good dialogue for NPCs, but you flesh out many characters in sometimes 1 line of dialogue. Like the "I'M NOT A DRUNK!! I'M A FUNCTIONAL ALCOHOLIC! REMEMBER THAT!!" LOL'd

oh, and the dog who says bark at the moon, and the knight who brags about how heavy he is. it's the little things lol

EDIT: Did you know in the shop menu when you can buy sonic boots (only example ive seen thus far) it shows the stat change and what the characters are wearing on the Mantle equip slot instead of the Boots slot. It's unfortunate because if there were more things to buy like this you wouldn't know how it would actually affect you because its altering the wrong stat. Just thought I'd point that out.

idk if anyone reads this anymore, but i cant seem to beat dican. i beat him easily in my first playthrough, i dont remember wat lvl i was. im at lvl 11, and he does 2 much dam damage. and all 3 of em usually goes ahead of shroud. not to mention, all 3 of them ALWAYS attack the same character, which kills him.

That's not a bug, the stairs are out. you can come down them but not go up. it's made like that.

They're not really asking for help, especially form beginners

You need to get the church key recipe in the mines, and you need to make it in the room on the bottom left before the boat. That's where the recipe is i think too.

I'm curious... What are you guys going to do after Arc VI is finished. I mean, that's like it, the end of Master of the Wind so, what, a new game, a sequel, a prequel, a spin-off, a VX remake (please don't).

It's an interesting thought, I mean, I always imagined if I ever completed my game, (first I need to get Chapter One released), then I might move onto something new but you guys are making something wholy new on it's own, it's own independant universe.

What's next for the ArtBane-Volrath team?

I could just tell you but that would be boring. For now all I can say is that we're discussing it and our next project will be announced at the end of arc VI. Thanks for showing interest though.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

EDIT: In Arc II, when I try to leave and go after the kidnappers, Shroud says he should see if he can craft some new armor. I have both of the forging materials bought from Gino, but the only thing I can interact with in the tent is the bed. Help?
