Master of the Wind

Master of the Wind (Complete!)

I notice the secret ending of Arc IV is full of rpg2003/2000 graphics. Are they of a previous game you guys made, or did you just decide to use them?

Oh and, thought I'd add my two cents for the recent Arc. As usual I loved the dungeon design but for some reason I hated the battles while in the undead cellars. Moving the Golem around was cool but I wish he walked a little faster. The concept was very interesting however, and I felt really proud of myself for solving the "move the boulder to the other side" problem. The bosses were, as usual, challenging but possible and kept you focused and using strategy to win. You guys make great boss battles. My only gripe would be most skills don't seem to be any better than a single regular attack since we can regular attack twice. Maybe with double weapons comes to ability to doublecast certain sword or gun skills?

The summoning scene where the lightning animation was used to form a pillar of lightning entranced me, nice usage of animation outside of battle. The music was, as usual, great, I even recognized a few songs this time.

One of my favorite bits was the fairy sidequest. Everything to do with that boss had me laughing in my seat, and a bit surprised to find he wasn't all that easy after all the silliness.

Something I enjoy about this game is the ability to come up with unique things I haven't seen before. Like drinking a beer to earn a few new one time skills. Or the Abominations that all are actually the previous castle residents. You guys have great creativity.

I did see a few graphical errors such as near the desert town, there was a pillar that was ruined yet had a fixed part hovering over it. Or a switch in graphical styles (The battle with the illusionists had three different battler styles in it. My favorite is the one that was used by Decan and the rest of the MotW characters by the way.)

Most of all, the game was fun, and I enjoyed playing it. I know Arc V will do well and I'm looking forward to playing it!

Those are from Clean Slate, which MoW is a sequel of. Sadly enough it never got published though. So if Volrath and Artbane ever decide to do so... It will be a prequel :)

Thanks for the feedback Erichermit. Perhaps you didn't care for the monsters in Solik's Lab because they were recycled enemies that were beefed up. I suppose I wasn't at my most creative for the battles that time around. Glad you liked the rest of them though. I find the skills usually do at least equal to the damage of regular attacks unless your intensified. Double casting certain spells would certainly pose a balancing problem the way the current system is set up. I think maybe it is just time to give some of the characters upgraded versions of their current skills. As for the three different art styles for the Danika battle hopefully we can get them all consolidated at some point.

No plans to release it to the public unfortunately but Volrath did the next best thing and summarized the entire story of Clean Slate. If you want to brush up on your Solest history you can find the extended summary in the games section at our website.

I just want to say that this happens to be one of my favorite games on the board. I've beaten Arcs I, II, and III and am working on IV. It's quite a long game (I'm up to 20 hours!) and every last second has been enjoyable. Some of the puzzles are tough, and that's how I like 'em. Though some of the bosses are kind of easy, others actually require quite a bit of thinking (like Solik).

I have a story related question. Is Gallia based off the Nazis? I'm finding a lot of similiarities between them (tried to wipe out a race, see themselves as the ultimate race, etc.). Then again, I could be wrong.

I have a lot of different questions, but my mind's a blank slate right now.

Anyway, good job Volrath, Artbane, and everyone else who helped out. ;)

Gallia is any group or government that thinks they are the chosen people of a particular god and attacks others based on religious rhetoric that can't be backed up with anything resembling fact. Nazis, Al-Qaeda, Fred Phelps, anyone like that.

I'm surprised I didn't think of al-Quaeda (though I kind of thought The Hand reminded me more of al-Quaeda since they are a religious radical group).

Holy crap!  This is actually 13th on the forum!  Random Encounters weren't in that room with Kovak/Danika, so I dunno what to do...

Try downloading Arc IV again and transfer your save file. The newest release should have encounters in that room.

Except Al Qaeda attacked us because we were there.  They declared war on the U.S. back in the 90's for, among other reasons; The embargo of Iran, the bombing and embargo of Iraq, etc.

They are religious fanatics, but that's not the reason they attacked us.  They only want to see the original Shia restored in the Middle East.

Trust me, I'm the last person to offer up the "they hate us because of our freedoms" crap that is perpuated by the far-right in their endless quest to promote intellectual laziness. I know Al-Qaeda's motivations for 9/11 and other attacks is primarily "blowback," to borrow a term from Ron Paul.

Still, at the core of religious fundamentalism, be it Islamic, Christian or anything else, is that "We're better than you. We're right, you're wrong, no matter what." It's that kind of attitude that has always inspired Gallia, and I know it's just as easily found in America as in the Middle East. In fact, a few quotes from Ann Coulter have been directly inserted into Clean Slate and some of the short stories I wrote about Solest...and they fit perfectly!

You should play it and then join in the NAVAL WARFARE.

(Anyone, anyone at all even SLIGHTLY interested in MotW shipping? I really want to talk about shipping but no-one's joining in :<)

WOW 4 arcs, and I haven't played a one. I'm FINALLY downloading this, probably the most "famous" RMXP game here. I tried it once and I deleted it for some random reason, don't remember why but I never got very far.. So, I'm trying it again! I'll probably be raiding your "support forums" soon XD

After a while I figured I didn't want to wait for the Arc I-V package so I started this again now. :> Will take me a while to get through, but just thought I'd drop by and say that I am certainly enjoying it. Getting the story together too this time from the previous skipping sessions, heheh.

You know what's really cool? The way this game has introduced to me to two really cool bands. Namely, Masterplan and Apocalyptica. My favorite of the two, being Masterplan (I've been listening to it a lot lately. I can't believe how little known this band is!)
