Master of the Wind

Master of the Wind (Complete!)

Sorry, that passage is the only way into the chapel area.

What's strange is that I feel like we would have heard about such a crippling bug before. It's probably some freak occurence that somehow came about because of however you did the mine. It's possible that if you started the game over, this wouldn't happen. Still, we don't want you to have to do that, so we'll fix the bug ASAP. If there's anything else about this I should know, send me a PM and let's give this thread a rest.

After all, we don't want this to turn into certain other threads in this section, where it's just the same four people going back and forth for pages and pages.

Well, I played both arcs. They were both pretty fun. Arc 2 had a lot more 'fun factor' than the first (I found the church a more than a little tedious since I was wondering around and didn't know where to go and those battles were fun at first but quickly became a little old.)

The difficulty of the battles was a bit of a surprise. Dican especially was difficult to beat, I had to try some fifteen times.

Rana's surprise really got me. I'd seen her as one of those perfect 'disney' females before and not thought of it twice. (Shows how much I've seen people like her in games.) In that scene my 'oh perfect female, overlook her' opinion was shattered. All of a sudden she was intresting!

Same with Emma, though replace 'intresting' with 'aggrivating'. For appearing so little in Arc 2, she managed to annoy me a lot.

Cowpie = win

I like the Toutens a lot. No drama, no dark 'hidden' motive (at least if there is it IS ACTUALLY HIDDEN) just good honest dishonesty. I hope to see a lot more of them.

The church can be a pain. It is a behemoth of a dungeon and often people can get confused on what to do. I hope it wasn't too tedious for you.

As far as the difficulty of battles go, most of them have multiple ways to be cleared. Finding your own way can take some time but I think it makes the battle that much more enjoyable.

We didn't want Rana and Emma to just follow the sterotypical girlfriend role. They have their own motivations for what they are doing. Rana in particular has a much deeper agenda and that scene just skims the surface of it. Emma too shall play a bigger role in the story than just Cade's exgirlfriend.

Cowpieness is next to godliness.

As for the toutens, you will be seeing alot more of them. They just can't seem to cease causing mischief for our heroes.

Y'know I've heard nothing but good things about this projedct... but here's what stumps me..

Where can I get a copy to play myself? The first post is completely blank (for my computer anyways) and I'd really wanna' play this...

You are not the first person to have trouble seeing the picture. The first post has been updated so hopefully people who can't see it will still be able to download the game.

hey, how do you find the key in the mines? i've beaten the boss mole, but i go to the church (beautiful btw ^^) and now i need a key to get in the church...

Hmm... Where is the church? I've been searching for it for some time. Is it through the middle-south exit in the mining hub place? And where's the switch to turn the statues off?

Yes, it is. B/w those two statues that blow fire. And the switch is
Climb down the ladder behind the right barrel and hit the Action Button.

Back to ARC1.
Ya, i'm still playing it but thought I'd post my thought so far.
Storywise? Decent. Nothing special but good enough. (Keep in mind I'm still playing number 1). Mapping is okay. Again, it's not really bad, but not really good.
Again, I expect alot of this has changed by the next Arc.
Now, where this game really shines in my opinion is the dungeon design. It is great stuff. Well, well, well above average. The dungeon design is why this game is the main reason why this game is so great.
As for characters. I'm sure by the end of the series the characters and story will be amazing. How could they not be with so much time invested?
Anyway. I'm going to finish up #1 slowly, then start #2.

Good work guys... really.

Thanks for the feedback Billy.

I am glad you are coming into the game with an open mind. Most of the hype we generate is from people who played both arcs. People then come into the first arc with high expectations that are probably not met since it is not quite up to date with our current skills. There will be time to go back and update our earlier work but right now we are focused on moving forward. There is still alot of story to tell and we don't want to be held back.

The first arc can be considered a stand alone game and the story doesn't really kick off until the beginning of the second. It is more a way of introducing the characters to the player so when the grander story begins they are already fleshed out.

The mapping too has improved through our experience though in our defense I don't think the mapping is that bad in the first arc. Volrath does plan to go back and update some of the more bland maps at some point.

As for the design, I thank you for your kind words. But consider the dungeons in the first arc a mere taste of what awaits you in the second.

Anyway, glad you are enjoying the game so far. Looking foward to more of your thoughts on the game.

hey i can't find the tool steel... if u have to get it from the boss mole then i'm screwed, cuz i didn't get it...

The mole boss only drops the recipe for the key. The actual tool steel you need to make. Head to the smelting room and you will find the material you need already in one of the barrels. Then it is just a matter of melting it down.

Maybe I should make a strategy guide...

O!!! excellent!!

And I forgot to post it yesterday, but I was going to reccomend a strategy guide... ^^ (seriously... i was thinkin bout that)

This has to be one of the most promising RMXP games i've seen so far. I like the improvement on the custom graphics as well.

Keep up the good work.

Hey, ArtBane or Volrath, uh... I'm having a difficult time w/ the Touten Band fight... They're too difficult...

I wanted to commend you all tho. No matter what type of fight i run into a good strategy can always save your ass ^^. that's excellent :D

Strategy is the key, and remember that most bosses are vulnerable to status-inducing moves as well. In case you need more help...

The best way to deal with the Touten Corps is to take them out one by one. Whichever one you choose to go after first is ultimately up to you, as there are advantages no matter what.

In terms of raw damage, Douglas is the most lethal. But Tyranda cures the others, so maybe you want her out of the picture first. Don't forget Shadehorn's ability to instantly KO a character. As for Morias, many of his attacks hit everyone, so that's a pain.

Also, take the time to really get to know Auburn and Finley's attacks. Auburn's "Crowd Control" move can induce paralysis, which can essentially remove one of the Toutens from battle for several rounds. Shroud's "Willy Willy" will also lower the total damage you receive each turn significantly. Make sure Finley always has enough MP to bring someone back with an "Adrenaline Shot" if need be.

While we're on the subject, what did everyone think of that dance/battle sequence? That took a lot of work, and it hasn't come up so often in this thread. Any thoughts?
