You know, I think I do like the zombie idea better. Instead of the mind set "well I can just hide in small spaces fro these massive creature" you have to think "these undead can do anything I can; there's no escape." I think it will give the game a better overall feel. Just my thoughts.

EDIT: Fifth page woot

Thanks, I'm glad you like the new story. I know the main post is now quite out-dated, I will fix it soon. I am also happy to say that I have fixed the enemy AI, so there will be no more random stopping enemies. And just for fun, heres a new screenshot of the zombies in action (with a very badly done lighting effect):

And, yes I know the roads are still too thin, it's just if I'd have edited the roads, I would have had the lighting effect in the wrong place.

is that that screen tone settings I gave you?  They seem a little too dark, especially in contrast with those lights you've added.  If you made the screen less dark it might make the light effects look better.

Oh, it may look dark because it's a combination of the screen tone I gave you + the darkness of the cosmetic fog, hence making it darker.

Yeah, it's because it's a combination of both. It doesn't matter, it's sorted now. The screen is lighter, and looks better. My team and I have been searching for some time for a good tree that matches the tileset so far. I think piders11 has found one:

What do you all think? I think that it's definatly better than the last one.

When you show something new, it's easier to tell if it meshes if you can see all the screen and therefore all the tiles it needs to suit.  That tree does look better than that old mess of a tree but it may need a little bit of editing in Photoshop to make it less textured and get rid of that streak of light.  Though like I say, I can't really tell when it's just put up against grass and the player.

Have you quickly slipped in the leafless tree from the rtp to see if that fits?  You could easily change the hue to make it more brown than that purpley-red colour.  I don't know if it would go well or not.

I think I'm going to go for the first tree. That one by ccoa looks like it's been squashed. But anyway, I have another quite big update. With the realease of MGCaladtogen's Mode 7 script, I am not sure whether or not to use it in LMS. I have tried it out, and I must say, it looks quite cool. I know it slightly distorts the graphics, but I am intrested on seeing what everyone else thinks. Here is a screen shot of Last Mans Stand in 3d:

At the top of the post, I have made yet another poll to see what people think... 3d or 2d?
(Please agnore the drop into space at the end, it won't be like that in the main game).

I think the sprites and the trees definetly match that style.
Be careful though, if you decide to use this, a lot of things will have to be edited.
But then again.. It would be cool to see a game made totally in mode7.

Well I voted no.  Mode 7 lags on weaker computers... It barely runs on mine.  That's talking about the guys you mentioned.  You've used the rotation feature which makes the building look like cardboard.

I think you can alter the degree of tilt right.  Maybe you should go halfway between there if you're going to use it and of course, not a rotated view, face on.  You'll also need to make panoramas for all your maps.  Those stars look bad.  Looks like its the edge of the world.

I think you're thinking too much about aesthetics before you've made a working game.  For instance I may be converting all my tilesets into a look that gives it a handpainted cel shaded look but I'm going to finish the project first and then work in the visual change if I decide then.

I voted No.
Personally I think mode 7 looks horrible, it makes it looks more flat then what it really was. Unless it is a real 3D engine, you should just stick to 2D. Also Mode 7 hurts my eyes

This game looks amazing. Haven't played the demo yet, But Judging from the screen shots, The tilesets and graphics look very appealing, and I feel that changing it to 3D  will ruin that "feeling"

Your mapping is strange, and doesn't seem to mix well together. There's no roofs displayed on some buildings, and yet on others there are roofs. The mapping confuses me.

And hey, I see Teddyplaza's work! Its too bad he stopped making materials.

I think the people who voted 2D were right. We will keep the game in 2d for the moment, but mabey, if the game is completed, we may go back and edit it, and create a 3d version as well.
Mapelcutter: The point of the minimap is to show enemys and items.
Thanks for the comments, I'll have an update on some other stuff later.

I like the change you've made for the monsters. Zombies are way better then "Aliens" warped from outher space (I think they look like that actually *sees a new plot twist*).

Also, I really like the grass you use. But please stick to 2D, I don't like how mode 7 showed your map. It looks like a piece of paper. Great if your making a southpark game or something, but not for this. So you can guess what I voted XD.

*waits for your update*

Yes, don't worry, Last Man's Stand is staying 2D. At the moment I am working on the exterior and interior tilesets, and once they are mainly done, I will start work on the storyline. I'm sorry, but the promised update isn't ready yet. And it won't be for about 5 days. That is because I am going on holiday (yes, again!), but when I come back, I will work on getting all the updated stuff ready. Just before I go, here's an image of the title screen with the new graphics:

My *sees a new plot twist* was actually a joke :), but I get your point. Your new title screen looks nice :thumb:.

That's a bummer :(
nvm have fun on your holiday:thumb:
I don't have any spare time either, I'm in my final exams. I have two left XD, but those are pretty easy, so that will work out fine, XD.

I was just wondering, you keep saying you "found this graphic" or "found this image".

You're gonna have one bigass long credit's list because you're gonna have to credit everyone who made anything.
