@saikyo: Thanks. I spent some time trying to get it looking right.
@Velocir_X: As Jbrist said, I wasn't aware helicopters had landing gear. The reference picture I was using didn't, anyway.
@Jbrist: That's to do with the storyline. Joe and 2 other soldiers will be hanging out of it eventually :)

Thought it's been a while since a new city screenshot, so I thought I'd post one. This is from the deepest parts of the infected city, and I'm trying to add more detail to my roads and streets to make it look like a city that's been completely ravaged for some time. I don't know if the fog's too thick on this one, I'd like an opinion.

Obviously it's missing zombies, I haven't added them yet, or any other events. But comments?

gheheh i laughed at the perspective trick inside the mcdonalds

Oh my god I saw that too, what the hell, lol...

Aside from the fucked up interior of McDonalds, it's looking really good, I love the detail of everything, although to be honest, your HUD doesn't seem to match for some reason, it seems too clean for the type of game you have, I've only just noticed now...

I had a few things I thought I might mention. First, fox5 is right, and I will be working on the menu system as soon as finals are over and done with. (My finals are all next week) Also, I find it interesting that someone decrypted fox5's demo and used the project to make his own. Specifically, I find it interesting that fox5 was the one credited with the menu. I checked back, and it would appear that I omitted my standard header, since I kept rewriting the menu. Anyway, the new menu should be much better than the old one, and I'll definitely give it my best. (Though, to be fair, it will be an easy break from the programming I've been doing recently, both for my own personal project, and for my programming classes)

Wow, you know, I'd never noticed about the McDonalds... That's one tile I didn't make, so I'll have to fix that. lol, I have this image of everyone sliding down toward the counter to get thier mcflurries... Anyway...
@jbrist: Thanks. I do know what you mean about the HUD, it was made ages ago when the colour scheme was grey, not black. I'll have to do something about that too. The only problem with black HUDs is that they tend to look out of place. But I know what you mean.
@Glitchfinder: Yeah, I know... So not only did he rip the stuff, he ripped it and then put it under the name of the wrong person... But that's 'forgotten' now... I look forward to seeing the menu system as much as everyone else, even though I designed it :)

So, something new again. In fact, a few new things in one screenshot. A new area, a new introduction cutscene, and a new system. This screen shows the new message system I'm working on. The two characters in the conversation appear at either side of the screen, while the person not talking is shown at half transparency. This scene is the first part of the new introduction I'm working on for the game, just before the helicopter scene from the screen earlier (I don't make games in cronological order, I tend to skip about from one scene to another, then piece them together afterwards). The art of the soldier probably isn't finished yet, it's a bit bland.

While this scene plays out, the echoing sound of far of gunfire and grenades can be heard from the city around them. Comments on everything would be appreciated.

The conversation graphics look a little out of place. They're done in a more cartoony style than the rest of the graphics. With that being said, I do have to give you credit for putting in the extra effort. Not everyone takes the time to make custom graphics, and it's a cool idea. The half transparency thing would be easier to judge in action, but it sounds like a neat concept.

@Ace of Spades: Thanks. I know they stand out a bit, but I think they work. And as I've said before at various different times, I like doing graphic design work, so I always love cleaning up and painting concept art (which is what they were) and putting them into the game.
@kqurmiz: Cheers. Yes, I did.

Last Man's Stand won the .Orgy Awards, second year running!
A massive thanks to everyone who voted for us!

On a game related note, I hope to release a new tech demo within the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled. Thank's again!

Hey, sorry for the lack of reply, I've been away.
@como: lol, thanks. Not sure what else I can say to that :S.

Anyway, as I said above, I really hope to get a new demo out soon, so everybody can finally play some part of the game. As ever it seems, I won't actually be releasing any part of the real game, but moer a demonstration of how far the game has come, and to give everyone intrested in LMS a chance to finally play it :P. Stay tuned (still).

would be cool to make nude porn star zombies with realistic penis flapping motions where you can blast their junk off. like a charset with 100 frames of animations for realistic wang slapping. or maybe the zombie cure can be a you have to stand under a rainbow and wait for a purple rhino. or maybe the cure is LSD and you can trip balls and the screen wiggles. because tripping balls during a zombie apaycolyyypesese would be the smartest way to survive.

just an idea.

all seriousness the stubble on average joes face looks weird like he's too young for it and hes wearing a fake beard. or a new orleans homeless that ask me for change everytime i go to get a slice of pizza.

keep up the good work

That's an image I really didn't want in my head...
I kind of do see what you mean about Joe. I suppose it could work though that he doesn't look quite right with it, because he's not in a 'quite right' situation. I think the original age for Joe was 21, but since then the storyline has made him older as it's progressed, so I think that may be why there's a bit of a mix between his features. I don't think I'll do anything about it for now.

I've now started putting the demo together. I was hoping to get the menu system that Glitchfinder was working on into it, but he's had some problems, at it may not end up in this demo. There definatly will be the finished copy of the battle system though.

The new demo is almost done! As with the other 2 main demos released, this one will be a tech demo of systems/graphics/atmospheres/maps to give you a feel of the game. There won't be any actual gameplay, just a couple of areas to mess around in and try parts of the game out. I'll be including most of the weapons in the demo, including the M16 Carbine, flamethrower, AK47 and others to test their different capabilities. The two areas will be a roundabout and a street to give you a feel of two different environments, which you'll choose from this screen:

demo_choose.png

There's roughly 30 zombies on each map to blow up, so there should be enough to give you an idea about the gameplay. I must stress that this is only a tech demo, and not what the whole game will be like. This is only meant as a 10 minute or so teaser of what the real game will be like. And hopefully it's a bit of fun as well :).

Release Date: Friday 18th June

Damn, sorry for that. The demo wass going to be released along side the new DeadWater Productions website, to link them together. Unfortunatly, LumberWarrior (the DeadWater Productions site creator) ended up with problems with his software, and so the website was not complete for monday. Therefore the demo (although fully made, sorry) will be put back for a week to allow time for the site to be completed and so they can be released side by side as originally planned. If the site is still not complete by then, the demo will be released seperartly. Sorry for the delay, and I promise that this the demo will be out in a couple of weeks time. Check back here, I'll keep everyone posted.
