Is it worth it to buy a X360

Mhhh, I'd say now seeing some games are also on ps3, Xbox has to many errors (Ring of death and E74) and the online in the lastst PS3 games also doesn't lags anymore (I played over 20 hours online in Killzone2 and haven't gotten A SINGLE SECOND of lag) SO I wouldn't say the online of xbox is better (It WAS better, but I thibnk they'll get equell) .. OW and the xbox controlle is just to big..
Halo is overhyped, I played it at my couson and I thought it was terrible.

and knowning games like : Uncharted 2, god of war 3, FFvs13 etc.. are coming up ps3 is getting games that are way better.. Also xbox BARELY has exclusives left (Microsoft has exclusives, not xbox.. nearly all xbox games are also on PC)..

I'd say stick to ps3 and PC.. the few games that remain aren't worth buying a new consoles for ..

The Xbox 360 is a great buy. Alot of its older problems (the three rings of death for example) were fixed in the newer version. Even though you have to pay for xbox live, its only $5 a month and its online is way better than any other system out there right now. Xbox has some great games exclusive to it, and Halo 3 itself was enough to have me buy my system. And with Halo 3: ODST Coming out, it only makes things better. And from what ive heard the online for CoD: WaW is just amazing.
The things you are aloud to do on xbox live are pretty cool too. You can rent netflix movies right onto your 360, you can download music and videos and other stuff. So in my opinion, get the 360, it owns.

Awesome Bro

rpgfanatic, have you even played the Wii or PS3 ? How can you say the online is "way better" than any other system out there right now... I could say... the PC pwns the fuck out of all console online, so it obviously isn't the best online. And in terms of console online, to be fair, I'd say the 360 WAS the best to start with, but starting from Q3 2008ish, the PS3 has started to take over, with the exclusives having little to no lag whatsoever on launch date, for example, Resistance 2, launch day, had no lag whatsoever for me, and I was in a 30v30 game for four hours straight... while Gears of War 2 on launch WEEK and MONTH suffered the worst lag I've ever seen on a game, and that's only with a 5v5 match too, so obviously we can both say that Resistance 2, the PS3 exclusive, has better online right there, since Sony have dedicated tons of money into servers and helping its first party developers with their server stability.

Another game that has very stable and amazing online, is Killzone 2, as before, on launch day, I experienced no lag whatsoever, and that was on a full 16v16 map, the game played as flawless as it does today, with everything filling out smoothly.

Even Halo 3 itself was lagging like mad online when it was first released, I know this cause all my mates were complaining about it, just like they were with Gears of War 2, which caused them to take back their game for a refund, and the following christmas, they got PS3's and now play Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 occasionally with me (Since they're all FPS Fanatics, lol)

Yes, I will admit, the 360 DID have the best online for consoles when it was released, and the PS3 did suck terribly online, having to exit a game to message someone was horrid, but they've had enough patches to fix all problems that have arisen, as well as adding nice little features for online users, especially Home, yeah, it seems pointless to people that don't use it, but it isn't meant to be a game, it's just a way to easily meet new people on the PSN who you can play games with and add as friends, as well as walk around admiring the amazing views, and play minigames with people.

The 360 has had its time in the spotlight for online gameplay, it's time for it to move over and let the PS3 take over, which basically, is happening... sales wise, the PS3 isn't doing as good, and the biggest complaint is that it's "too expensive", yet in another thread I added up the prices of everything you'd need on the 360 to bring it up to the standard of the PS3, and the 360 is almost double the price when everything has been priced up accordingly.

Yes i own a Wii and my Future-Step Dad owns a PS3. The wii on terms of online play is pretty terrible. Any time i would play i would lag alot more than i would on my 360. The wii is fun for a while when you find a fun game for it but theres the problem. You have to find one first. To tell the truth the only thing i like about the Wii is the Internet Browser as that works pretty well. The PS3 Is probably my next favorite system out there. It is a pretty good system and is very well balanced, and has some great games (God of War III coming out soon) but i still really love my 360. Sure you have to pay for the internet but alot of the money we use to pay for that is used to keep xbox live awesome and for the most part lag-free. Yes I agree Microsoft is kind of a rip off in alot of ways (Wireless adapter for $100,*cough*) but that doesn't mean they cant make a great system.

Yeah but come on, not to mention the amount of breakdowns lol, I'm sure I saw it on wiki (I'll check soon), that in the US, originally, 1 in 6 360's would break down with the RRoD error, or the E74 error, which if you ask me, is proof that they fucked up with the hardware of their system, lol.

Hmm, can't remember where I saw it, since it isn't on wiki, it could've just been on a random site, and even if 1 in 6 isn't true, we both know the breakdown rate is high as fuck compared to the PS3 anyway... so disregard that bit unless it can be proven.

Well I did search wiki again and found what I was talking about, apparently, 1040 360's were tested, and 16.4% (.4 WTF), suffered from hardware failure, which is approx 1 in 6, lol, here's the wiki page;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Ring_o ... red_lights

I'll admit the 360 is good for what it does, which is making a loud ass noise like a hoover (Vaccuum cleaner) and scratching discs... lol, nah but seriously, I got my 360 a whole year before my PS3, and as I've said earlier in the thread, I played it a whole ton more than what I play my PS3 now (I was on CoD4, R6: Vegas, and Dead Rising almost every waking hour, lol), but when I got my PS3, I was amazed at how much money I was saving, due to the built in wireless, as well as bluetooth, the controllers that came with the charger and didn't take batteries, so that was cheaper, the free online (This made it a whole lot better), and the bluray player (Which saved me around £300 at the time...), not to metion that I could play all my PS1/PS2 games on it too, and after I read up about the line-up for the following year, and the games I'd bought, I was so fucking happy that I forgot all about my 360, and it's now in the other room gathering dust, although I do play it sometimes since Dead Rising is one of my favourite games of all time, lol, and there's various other games I still play on it sometimes. But for the most part (Like 9/10 times) I'm playing my PS3 since I love the exclusives it has, and I buy multiplatform games for it, instead of my 360, because the ones I do buy usually have online, and I'm not paying to play them online when I play for free anyway, lol.

I Know for a fact that the RRoD Error was fixed in the newer generation 360's and i've heard they fixed the E74 error also, so it shows that they are making progress. And scratching disks? yeah its good at that. I learned something. Dont bump the table your 360 is standing on while a game is in and on (My poor fable 2 :{ ). But that problem can be fixed by laying the 360 on its side. I almost didn't buy my 360 when i heard about the RRoD but when i heard that problem was fixed i went out and bought mine. Both 360 and PS3 are great and it all depends on the person on which one they should buy.

Actually, the red ring still hasn't been fixed, but the failure rate is a lot lower than it once was. When they first started mass producing 360s, the failure rate was around 60%. I have had mine since the end of last September, and I have not had a single problem with the system itself. I have, however, had a few problems with games like Fallout 3, which occasionally froze up, and Gears of War 2, which is still notorious for lag, though it is nowhere near as bad as it was when the game launched. I've had my PS3 since about mid April or May, and have had no problems with it either, and I still have very few games for it (four commercial, and three downloaded).

I really don't understand why people complain about paying for Xbox Live. I mean, yes Nintendo's online is free and so is PSN, but I think XBL is much better. Besides, it's only $50USD for a whole year. That's around $4.17 a MONTH. It's really not that expensive. Hell, I know people who pay $30 a month for WoW because they have multiple accounts (really its a guy and his son, but only one is paying).

What I'm trying to say is, I think buying a 360 is worth it, and I wouldn't trade it for anything, (except maybe a factory sealed copy of Chrono Trigger for the SNES), and I really love all the games I own for it, especially the exclusives. Just to name a few of the games I have: Fable II, Galaga Legions, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2, Gears of War 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Lost Odyssey, and Tales of Vesperia. And that's just the current exclusives. Most of my multi-platform games are on the 360 only because my computer wasn't powerful enough and I didn't have a ps3 at the time.

The RRoD isn't really much of a problem if you've still got your warranty active (and you can stand not playing for about a month). I've never had it but I know the facts. As for disk scratching, it's all about being smart about it. As RpgFanatic said, lay the Xbox on it's side and keep it away from curious two year olds (lol bro in law's 360 got owned by his own son), it'll all be okay.

If I buy something I want it to be good, and not to have a 16,4% chance to break, and seeing the rate was alot higher microsoft was only intersted in money and launched a broken console, xbox was shining back then and had totaly beaten the PS2 on nearly everything (except the online, which was better on PS2 then original xbox.. THATS A FACT! pS2 didn't ve a single second of lag n EVERYGAME, but ps2 didn't have a f/l.. ) So they released a new console soon after for the money (well thats what I thinkatleast, why els would they launch the next console so quickly..)

1) Like Jbrist said the online WAS better and currently PS3 online is getting better and better, R2, KZ2, HELL even Uncharted 2 doest has lag and its still only a beta. So why pay 50 dollar a year for it? if the ps3 is getting better ad is free?

2) Gears of War 2 online lagged, so why pay 50 dollar a year for it? Tales of Vesperia gets a port to PS3 so its no exclusive

Also, lots of peopple where complaing and shitting on ps3 because they didn't have a lot of exclusives (which is normall knowing the release was way later then the 360) but now take a look at this list and say the ps3 doesn't has some good exclusives

First, i hadn't heard that the rumors of a ps3 port of ToV were confirmed, and second, I consider every game an exclusive until it is announced on a different system with a release date (only for games that get ports). ToV has no current release date for the PS3. Also, you have FF13 in your list as an exclusive, but unfortunately that is coming out on the 360 as well.

September 17th in japan. No Date for US yet

Jason

Yeah, MegaFlare is right, there's an article on the net, that a Jap dude was reading a magazine that said ToV was being ported to the PS3 with more extras etc. (The same as Eternal Sonata), and he ripped up his magazine, and snapped the disk into peices, I'll try and find a link to it...

Here we go;
http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/04/ ... ver-vespe/

I thought that was funny as hell, lol.

Oh and Darkfire, actually Final Fantasy XIII is exclusive to PS3, but only in Japan, but it's exclusive nontheless, right ? Also, we get Final Fantasy versus XIII exclusively, so meh.

Also Aepriz, you should have added The Agency (Another MMO by SCE, same team that are making DC Universe Online methinks...), and Agent, the new game that Rockstar are making exclusively for the PS3 (By the way, what ever happened to L.A Noire, or is this is renamed ?)

I'd also recommend adding Quantum Theory to the list, yeah, I know it looks like a complete rip off of Gears of War, but the idea seems pretty cool to be honest, a tower where everything moves, and theres huge ass staircases that fly around that you have to jump onto to move around etc. That interests me tons.

Both games you mentioned are on the list xD

Yaaay !

But seriously now, to the threadstarter (Second page, can't see your name, sorry)

I'd say you'd be better off just using that money to buy more PS3 games (preferable exclusives, lol), or if you're not really much of a console gamer, just use it to upgrade your computer, since most of the "360 Exclusives" are on the PC too, so they're not really exclusive to the console are they, which so many people fail to see...

To be honest right now id rather just get a ps3 two weeks ago id say xbox but microsoft are being fucking dicks, I got a second hand elite only 2 weeks old and got rrod like a week ago and according to microsoft the consoles been modified so they wont fucking fix it.

Please tell me you only did that AFTER they said it was modified. If it ever gets opened, it voidsd the warrenty and counts as a modified console.

Jason

Awesome Bro

Actually you can open it without voiding the warranty if you're careful, cause the only way they can tell that it's been opened, is by the sticker being ripped, since they put it over the gap where the sidepanel comes off, although sometimes you can do it gently and get it off and back on, it's lost some of its stickiness, so when they get it, they'll see that, and send it back to you unfixed.

I know this cause it's happened with my mate twice...
