Is an XBOX worth it at this point?

Wow. Dude. I'm not a fanboy. I just told you that I'd probably end up buying one. No. Never played one. I was merely stating my suggestion. I've heard bad things about the PS3. I'm not going to come in here and tell this kid to buy one because "I'm sure they were all just lying." Come one, man. I'm not trying to start a fight. I'm just stating what I know from what I've read and heard. My opinion. Take it or leave it.

Again. I'll probably buy a PS3 one day anyway. And I'll probably decide that it isn't as bad as everyone said. But since I've never played one. I was just stating what I've heard. I guess I should have made that a little more clear.

Half of the games you said won't come out on PC Are out on PC. Prince of Persia definitely is (Just saw it on steam the other day) and I thought I've seen Ninja Gaiden (could be wrong)

Anyway, most good games for 360 come out for PC eventually, except maybe Gears of War (that's not PC yet, is it)

I would say use your money to beef up your PC some more :D

I won both a Ps3 and an Xbox 360 now while the Ps3 probably has long term potential to outclass the 360 right now the 360 holds my interest with:

Lost Odyssey
Blue Dragon
Enchanted Arms (although also available on Ps2/3 I can't remember)
Oblivion (available on PC I believe)
Fable 2
+
Fable and Jade Empire from the original Xbox

While Ps3 only entertains me with:
Disgaea 3
Folklore
Little Big Planet

Tales of Vesperia is apparently good and on 360 (It'll probably never see release where I am though ) Fallout 3 is available on both but I believe Valkyria Chronicles is on Ps3?
Both are titles I have heard good things about.

Honestly the cheaper and more immediate solution is an Xbox 360, however a long term investment would be the Ps3 but it is definately more expensive.

Games with multi-player function bore me, I don't like people enough to use the function.

I'd have to say that I'm on my PC more than my Xbox also. If I were you, I'd just take that $400 you would have spent and upgrade your computer. I'm a bigger fan of ORPG's than any other kind anyway, and the very best ones are all on PC. Mainly because they suck for Xbox and PS. The only one that's even remotely good on Xbox was Phantasy Star Universe. But I still used a usb keyboard to type.

Anyway. Go with your PC until the other systems are much more reasonable, or until you've got the money for the next system releases. I'm sure the next ones will be no doubt, the peak of our gaming experience.

You know, if you save up $500 you can get an ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2. It is the fastest video card in existence :D 2 GPUs on one board, so it's faster than Crossfire. It has something like a 56Gb/s memory pipeline too.

sniper oblivion is on the PS3 and same with enchanted arms. Anyways I say stay away from the 360. Ive had one for 3 months and i have had my ps3 for like 1.5 years. In the time ive had my 360 it has froozen more then my ps3... Plus the free online is sweet. Also Ps3 has Motorstorm Pacific Rift and 360 doesnt.

Seriously, stick with the PC. From what you've said here, the only feature that you will really miss is game rental. Not only can you connect a Xbox 360 controller to the PC, but there's a huge variety of PC controllers, so you can choose the one that's most comfortable and natural for YOU, rather than a mass-produced model that may or may not be comfortable for you to use. (The one thing I hate about the PS2 and PS3 controllers is that they are so f***ing tiny, so I use an original Xbox controller on my PC.)

Console-to-PC porting, while horrible in the past, has gotten far better since the release of the original Xbox, because it, and now the 360, use DirectX, half the work of porting an Xbox game to the PC is automatically complete. You'll miss a few games, but between a PC and a PS3 (which I assume you'll eventually buy as you've stated that you want to play MGS4) you'll miss very few.

BTW, PC ports of Halo 3 and Fable II, while they may not be announced, are all but guaranteed, and you'd be an idiot to play Oblivion on any console if your PC is adequate to run it.

360 RRoD is like a rite of passage man. everyone who gets it is always all WOE IS ME HOW DO I FIX THIS and the rest of us are like 'settle down just send it back to M$ you baby'. we all went through it (almost all of us anyway), and it's not that damn bad.

anyway, that last sentence wasn't very nice! PC gaming is good and all, but i grew up with consoles, not a computer, so they feel like home to me. plus i play a lot of games with my friends/brother and we'd rather not crowd around a computer screen just to play a round of tiger woods. then i have a friendly gamerpoint competition with my bro (which i'm losing by like 3K D: ). yeah i probably wouldn't use my PC for serious gaming even if it could run the newest stuff (it cant).

In what way does my comment on the foolishness of buying a vastly inferior version of a purely single-palyer game have anything whatsoever to do with your multiplayer gaming habits?

Also, I doubt the comment on Xboxes "freezing" had anything to do with the red ring of death. Freezing is when the game stops responding and you have to power cycle the system.

@Cruelty: Oblivion is SO much better on PC. Mainly because you can download TONS of usermade, custom content. That's the only reason I'd argue PC over 360. I love Xbox Live though. We should start a thread with everyon'e gamertag so we can all get together and play.... something? Halo, maybe? lol

@Skirtboy: The Xbox freezing problem just recently got bad. It's because of the new update. Mine's only frozen about two times since I bought it. And the first time was because I rented a game from Gamefly and it was scratched to hell. The other time happened after the new console update, and it's been happening to everyone lately. They'll fix it. Just be patient. Being on rmxp.org, you of all xbox players should know that it's not just a slice of pie to program games and engines. Could you imagine trying to create a new Xbox Dashboard program!? Holy shit. I think they've done awesome, even WITH the little freezes here and there.

@Mikee: Yes oblivion is better on the PC but the PS3 version is better then the 360 version. ALSO there is already a gamertag topic on top.

It isn't only recently, I've had 7/8 360's over a 2 year perioid (Forgot how many, RRoD is a bitch though), about 3 of them would freeze on a regular basis, and I still haven't got my Dead Rising disc out of the last one cause it won't power up (If I play 360, I use my brothers, lol), while my PS3 has had no problems at all !

And making a new dashboard isn't THAT good, I mean, when the 360 and PS3 first came out, I'll admit, the 360 WAS better in terms of usability, but look at the PS3 now, usability wise, it's the king of the jungle, and PS Home > 360 Avatars, and I don't get any lag or game freezes etc. So that tells me that M$ are just money hungry fat bastards (WELL DUH !) who couldn't care less about the customers, infact, true story, last month my friend got a letter from Microsoft saying their terminating his XBOX Live, cause his payment went in 2 days late... thats how much they care about their customers, now if he had a PS3 (He's saving for one), they wouldn't cut his online cause it's free

@ Mega Flare, whats your PSN ? :shades:

My 360 freezes occasionally and mostly on Oblivion but I've never had the RRoD and I've had my 360 at least a year I think.

I've got both systems, and my PS3 has been faithful in every possible way, no overheating, no scratching of disks, no freezes.. meanwhile, my 360 has done all of the above. I have the "1st gen" PS3, meaning the 60gb with 4 controller ports (which don't matter because the controllers are wireless, to whoever said that the new PS3's have only 2 ports.. just means you can only plug in 2 usb peripherals at the same time)

Yeah I got the original 60GB with 4 USB slots, but you can plug USB HUB's into them anyways, my friend has an 80GB with 2 HUB's which both have 6 slots each, so he has 12 USB slots, lol.

Wow. Ps3 is free online play!?

Shit. And PS Home looks rad. I just wish they had more multiplayer games. I'm beginning to think I should start saving for one. Or maybe trade in, since I can barely afford Xbox Live as it is.... Damnit. You people and your good arguments. I like being right.

Now I have to go buy a PS3. God.

there not controller ports they are USB ports.

I called them "controller ports" because you have to plug them in to make a controller work with the PS3, and they also have to be plugged in to charge (unless you have a charging station, which I do not). Otherwise, they just act as USB ports to plug in just about anything, including flash drives.

@ Mikee, lol the library of online games are bloody amazing anyways, quality over quantity, I mean, if you think about it, everyone was comparing GoW2 to Resistance 2, 5v5 vs 30v30 with NO lag, I think we have a winner there, and when M.A.G comes out, the 360 online will be inferior and those games developers better take a step up, 128vs128, yeah, 256 people in a match, how cool is that ?

Of course PSN is freem what kind of robbing bastards would make you pay ? *cough* M$ *cough*, you're already supporting their console by buying it, so why should you have to pay for online, which in my opinion is better on the PS3 anyways, I always get better connection and mines wireless compared to my 360 which was wired connection (PS3 = Built-in wireless too)

PS Home is pretty cool, although alot of people think it's boring, but if they find Home boring, what do they find Wii Mii's and 360 Avatars ?

*Puts Donnie Darkop rabbit costume on*

Mikee... buy a PS3..

Nah, do whatever you like, lol.

@ Psiclone, you don't have to plug 'em in to make the controller work, only to charge them up with the firewire cable.
