How many musicians are on RMXP?

I play the guitar and piano.

I ...also sing.  Which, technically counts as an instrument.

Erm, I have my first guitar which was a classical.  I also have one other classical that is much better sounding.  I also have 5 acoustic guitars, two of which are plug-ins, one has a cut-out, and one is a 12 string (the other one is just a plain acoustic :P).  I have 1 electric...not too much a fan of the electrics...but I can play them.  I have a bass too...don't use it much at all.

I also have a Casio Priva electric piano (weighted keys and everything) and a grand piano.  The Casio is used for recording via MIDI.

I love music :)

When I was in my 5th year, I always wanted to play the flute, but my parent insisted on the violin. I wasn't very good at it, eventually, I became partially deaf and I had a harder time playing and I gave up on it. I don't really intend on picking up music again in the future though because it never really interested me ... and I've always had some strange difficulty trying to imagine and create things from that method.

3 best mates play guitar, shitty guitar and Bass. I'm gonna learn Drums (played around on a mates drum kit not long ago and loved it - I can play the intro to faint! woo!) as soon as I can save up six grand for a kit =p ^^

Piano, flute & compose, but trying to learn guitar, though struggling. :x I've tried a lot of instruments, but guitar just seems to be the hardest... well, maybe not hardest, but the most different and hard to get used to. Probably because I'm used to the nub numbered keys, though.

I started the saxophone when I was 10, but stopped partway through high school.  I haven't opened the case in 10 years.  It's probably disgusting in there by now.  I still remember how to finger most of the notes, so I could probably pick it up again if I were inclined.

Your musical tastes, Cruelty, aside from AFI, are to die for =3
I have a guitar and a keyboard, and dabble in them, but I really dont have the inclination to get any better at them than I already am (Which is really very little)

I'm a pianist and a composer of game music. I play a clavinova, but just sold it. I use a large collection of softsynths, hardware, etc. I selected for the qualities I like and thought that they would bring to the table.

By the way, anyone know of any good headphones for mixing tracks? (fidelity, frequency response, and price are the factors I'm taking into consideration.)

I know a lot of good headphones, in the mid price range Sennheiser HD-485s are pretty good (wearing a pair right now) but on the high end of things HD650's are the way to go.

thanks for the reply...

Basically I'm looking for something to rival the quality of my old Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 set.

Does anyone know of any at this calibre of quality?

And also, anyone know how well the "AKG K" and "Ultrasone Proline" headphone lines stack up against Sennheiser's equivalent models?

Guitar and drums. First got into guitar about 7 years ago. Two friends and I were sitting in a geography lesson and decided we'd start a rock band despite having no previous musical knowledge apart from my 12 weeks of violin when I was 6. I learnt guitar, they learnt bass and drums. Had classical lessons at first to get an overview of music theory as well as guitar technique, and then moved on to electric lessons to take me where I wanted to go with the instrument. All of these were boring as shit so I said to tell with the lessons and just played by myself. Picked up the drums out of curiousity, bought a kit etc etc. Three years later I barely touch guitar and play drums in a semi-succesful band (www.myspace.com/overturemusicuk). Doing a gig with Diamond Head, metallica's biggest influence (though now dead in the water if they're playing with us) and Last Stop China Town (toured with breed 77, gigged with bfmv, had dragonforce's old bassist as their bassist for a short period).

Half tempted to take up the keyboard and improve my musical theory at the moment, as it's all rotting away just beating the shit into drums in a rock/metal band :p.

I'm curious as to how many musicians there are here on RMXP, so post what you play, how you got into playing it and if you want post your equipment.
I'll go first.
I play the guitar  I got into it when I was 12 and I had to find something to do to occupy my time (an injury had forced me to give up my place on the rugby team which was my usual distraction) so I decided to learn to play the guitar, just because I thought it looked cool and I didn't need to be able to walk to do it (due to the injury walking and running wasn't an option for a while) so I started playing again and by the time I was able to go back to playing sports I was too interested to give it up (although I did rejoin the rugby team) and I kept playing, that was nearly ten years ago now, I even joined a band and met some of my best friends that way.
And I've got the following guitars: Ibanez Iceman, Gibson Les Paul, Fender Strat (1962 reissue) Yamaha Pacifica (my first guitar )

Not bad ive been playing since i was 10, im now 18.
I have a gibson Les paul
stevie ray vaugh Strat
Zakk wylde signature edition
Paul reed smith Mccarty
Joe perry signature edition

And i play out of a Marshall Vintage Stack. Came out recently i think SLash from GNR promoted it.

I also have a B-52 stack.

I also have gear for bass and drums, vocals, as well as a little recording studio in the main office of my mechanic shop.
Its a cool setup i love playing with the boys.

Do any of you guitarists have any recordings id like to hear them, ill upload some of mine if you upload yours.

get either an epiphone Sg g310 or an epiphone Les paul.
They sound good for the money.
Jackson performer aint bad either, just put some seymour duncn pickups in and your good.

All those guitars are roughly $200

Try it, youll have so much fun

Plenty of places do beginner kits, take a look around and see which one you think is best, they're all fairly cheap and come with all the stuff you need to get started (guitar, amp, spare set of strings, tuner, instructional dvds etc) but make sure to check if it's right or left handed since a lot of people don't even know if they would prefer a right or left handed guitar (only bother checking if you are left handed, I say this because I'm left handed but play right handed)

Wow. Sorry to go off topic, but I just got the 'phones I was talking about. After several days of exauhstive research, reading specs, user opinions, AB listening comparisons, and making cost-analysis, I made up my mind: Sennheiser HD-280pro!

They'rrrrrrrre grrrrrreat ...!!

It's like having a subwoofer next to each of your ears!

Before purchasing them, I performed listening comparisons (to attempt to percieve the differences between these models and others) using classical music... Not as flat or wide as the Sony 7509, but half the cost ($99), and have a wide freq response with low bass extension. MUCH better than the old Koss 'phones I got at Radio Shack for $40!
