How many languages do you know?

English.

Then I also know a lot of French and basic Japanese. I'm trying to learn more Japanese but I can't find any good *FREE* sites. :(

I only know 1 language fluently - English.
But I can understand and have limited conversations (not just asking where the bathroom is, or saying the "cat is under the desk") in French, Italian, and Spanish. Oddly when I try to communicate with French I'm told I sound Spanish and vice versa (or just versa vice). When I speak, or try to speak, Italian I'm told I sound American, so that makes sence at least.

I'm also learning to write (notice I left out the all important "READ") in Chinese. Thanks to a few books. Though I'm just memorizing the patterns, and not trying to actually write sentences as I am putting chinese phrases or words/wordplay and puns on things (such as the back of a character's notebook or something crappy liek that) for work.

In my opinion I don’t fully know any languages although I can speak fluent English (well the New Zealand variation of English, as people from England speak rather differently) I still don’t understand half of the words in the dictionary.

So I think I know like half of a language… ':|

Well English is my only fluent language...which sucks because it sounds like quite a few people here could converse about me and I'd have no clue lol
But I did take French in high school, however, I probably remember only about .0000000001% of it at the moment. So no help whatsoever. Unless you say hi/bye I can respond. And I can kind of understand Italian due to having lived there when I was younger, I just cannot speak it (and be understood).
Well now that I've written a book on languages, I shall go now .. peacefully.

English is my first language, and I'm quite good with it. I have some very basic French and Swedish abilities. I'm studying more Swedish, but it's still not at any amazing level.

Awesome Bro

English. All I need to know to be honest. Majority of the planet speaks it and if they don't THAT'S when I'd put the effort in to speak something else.

If I'm abroad and they don't understand me, I tend to take onboard the common English move of speaking it slower and more loud. Why that would make a difference is beyond me.

Before I go to another country I always try to at least learn some of the language, I find it to be more respectful if you speak their language if you're in their country. Common Sense Really

Spanish(El principal idioma de mi pais, ¿Como podria no saberlo?), English(Well, I am writing now in english...), German(Ich lerne Deutsch in meiner Schule seit zehn Jahren) and Portuguese(Eu estudo português desde um ano).

I want to start studing Japanese or Chinese, in some far future...

I know English, French and German.
And I'm learning Latin, Finnish and Japanese (half-heartedly).

I can also say very, very small amounts in Russian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Greek and Italian. But that's mainly the basics of the basics, such as 'hello' and 'how are you'...

It took me forever to get out of that habit. Ironically, as soon as I did, I became good friends with an exchange student whose English was good but wasn't very fast -- so I started all over again, haha.

I know Portuguese (my main language, I'm from Brazil), English and Spanish, but next year I'll be learning German, French and Swedish o.O

I speak English, French, and Japanese. Next on the list might be Korean but I am starting to think Indian (whatever the main language of India is officially called) is pretty and might be a good one to learn.

St3v0: speaking english slowly and deliberately (not loudly) does help a lot of people. Writing it down is even better. Many people the world over can read english or piece together very simple english sentences. Using simple grammar structures helps a lot more than just being slow though. I am learning a lot about this, as one might guess.

Well... this could be good place to start posting ^^ i'm Finn so i don't write perfect english, i may have lots of misspelled words in my textes and games i hope you don't care. I'm studying finnish, english, swedish and french but only finnish and english are lenguanges what i mostly understand :P
