you want to really heavily on Charsets to make things move and come alive. The house you have there should not have a door on it. The card reader should be a charset flashing. and even the glass needs a shine to it.

I think this is the best way to map... (if you get a good mapper)

and Gman should be ok and if not let me know and I can post a tut on how to map like that :D

That's some good points. The card reader sould flash, otherwise it would look
artificial or something.

lol i never said it wasent :D i get flamed by axerax when I talk to my team on my forum lol :P he says give others a chance.

Well yea everyone liked it except for my spriters of course XD, but the mapper was a little upset, but hey no more rtp!!no more rtp! I think that's my chant 4 today
Gboi:I like it to, I was going for a sort of futuristic sort of feel.
 
Well if you haven't read my other post, We're currently drawing the tilesets instead of spriting them, so that puts my work to about 1% but it's definitely worth it. The Custom Battle system will be out later on today on the DEV forums, and The Tech System is being done as we post, so overall scripts are pretty much in there, storys about finished, and as for mapping, 2% lol, but don't worry events and stuff r still on the map... all I gotta do is replace the tile and edit away.
 
the mapping thing can work really well... It just needs to be done perfect. You will need ALOT more spriters and they will need to be good at doing animated objects or the game will just look stiff!

things like moving signs and flashing lights.. the problem with this is that the team will need to get the tileset before they can even think about making it animated. as you need to know where in the squares its going to be... VERY complex but looks wonderful at the end.

ONE MORE THING

with a mapping system you need to keep the same artist for it all or your maps will not match.. or you can get one great mapper to train up a couple of people to the same standard. I think that would be the best thing to do.
 
Ok, it's a new alternative and needs a whole lot of work, so... I dunno... my thoughts on this will never go away, putting so much effort to make original stuff like this.. well... I'm not feeling it..
 
mate... I understand what you mean.

BUT! with the lack of tileset artist on here I think that this could save time. Also future tiles look quite bad at the moment. They all seem to be WIP!

This gives you a better look and its really simple when you get going. But i do recommend Pixel Collision. and you need DOUBLE the spriters and 3x the artist to pull this off... Eventing is a hard if your maps are off line with the blocks.

I will be making Tuts for people doing this style later this week :D
 
I mean that aimig high with original ideas often makes some stuff go down... well, not if it's worked the right way, but I sincerely don't like this style, no matter how original it is
 
i understand how you feel... Tilesets can be good, I wont lie.

If this is done right (when the mapper gets photoshop) then this could look really nice. and work really well.

If its not PERFECT.. . . Then its going to destroy the game. I think that with Gman leading he can get this done as the work on your forums seem to be flying out. then again im not in your team so its best if I stay well out of this :P lol
