I personally don't like the screen above, but it looks so empty because that's only a portion of the map. so yeah.

Hmm, there seems to be a few mapping errors with your map. The angled tiles for the building is done wrong. (if it helps usually the diagonale or angled tiles go on the second layer.) and I know that it's only a portion, but even the portions need SOMETHING. A few more trees, some ivy on the walls, some different variation of ground tiles. I did a quick whip up to show you want I mean...
It does look like a slightly dreary day though ^^

Oh thats how you do it! I sat there for hours.... thanks for the CC and I'm working on that map right now. I just wanted to get some kind of screens up and show the people this game was moving.

Your original maps were quite sub-standard. No offense, I just have high expectations for this :P

Empty space is your number one enemy!

Your updated map looks a bit better but do the buildings look a little awkward? The left one is down a tile compared to the right.

A 'cool' style?

Heh anyway I think the picture is cute!

If you need some help look for mapping tutorials. I'm gonna make my own soon. Just keep practising and you will get quickly.

Gman, if you need some help on actually creating a really good map... I could help you in my spare time. This is a screenshot of the world map for a short game I abandoned a long while back, but it is a part of my side project in a way. Anyways... This is a 75x75 map in 4x view... about the only thing that seems mildly barren and has a good reason to be, is the swamp. This is a good use of actual layering, It took me forever to perfect and even acquire skills to do this, but I have faith you can do it. Empty space is killing you, so stand up to it and fill that void!

Well I'd love to take you up on that offer, but mapping is something that I must learn myself, and I'm trying! Hey people expect battle screens soon.

Oh.. I was just simply going to explain how to do things like Layering effects, depth perception, and other vital things that could help you on your way to becoming a better mapper, not make maps for you. I wrote a mapping tutorial a long time ago, I wonder if I could find it, been so long.

I am enjoying the plot direction. Although it has its cliche elements, they are very well put to use. Cliche can be a good thing. You are making a strong emphasis on character portrayal and thats a good thing.

I hope to see this project make it. With some spit and polish on the mapping and visual side, it can shine.

Peace,
EiB

well since we have our own scripter now which I consider myself very lucky for, you can expect alot of custom scripts......right now we are planning a transportation system similar to Steambot Chronicles, and we have our skill equip orb script now as well.
The main Idea of the game?
OH NO PANIC!!!! nah jk basically this game will show that you can change everything as much as you want.....but it won't stop anything from happening.....for instance a certain character wants to save his\her little sister from a bad accident which took away the use of her legs.....he\she goes back to change it....yay he\she did it, unfortunately she only prolouged it, because a disease befalls the sibling and she loses the ability to walk.....all he\she did was make it so she didn't get her legs smashed. Did it change anything? No.

it will also capture the idea of Newton's third law "To every action force there is an equal, but opposite, reaction force". which will mean different stuff will happen based off your actions, say you save your best friend from dying in a fire.....well then in turn he will become evil later on in life, why? Because the fire killed his entire family which warped his mind to being evil. Now if you would have just let him perish, the world wouldn't have ended up in his grip. Do you understand now? I must say it's going to be pretty hard not considering this is the longest post I've ever written. although this looks very grim it teaches a good lesson......you can't change destiny.....only prolouge it....or maybe you were meant to alter it in the first place? But I have a stumper for my readers....if the hero is prepared to travel back in time to right some wrongs.....doesn't that mean he already failed? Think about it, if he suceeded he wouldn't be prepared to go back in time to change the past!!! I plan to have someone point this out as a joke ingame...but it is a very serious matter XD
Time is a strange thing and makes one hell of a concept for a game.....and this is excactly why I chose it for my game Genesis Saga.....now does that answer your question....for I think I've answered some of my own as well XD.
