Geex - Edit, Play, Game - 2D Game for PC/Xbox

I am not sure i get it right. And I am sure that what I understand is feasable, ergonomy speaking I mean. I mean there must be loads of scenarios to think of it seems

Well, to answer your question, you'll have a "insert script" like command. But it'll be a mere text that could be read through c# code. Then it would be up to the programmer to interpret it the way he wants. This free text could also be used to type GeexMake command in, for those you would prefer that instead of windows

BTW
GeexPlay is still in line for being released around the 25th
So We are looking for beta testers for GeexPlay. (please MP)
We will limited to 5 testers, so I you are interested in Geex, you have a RMXP project, and possibly know a bit of c#/programmation, please send me a MP to see what we could do together

Geex ! IT WORKS!

Day-7 before Geex release

Here comes a little sample from a game edited with RPG Maker XP, and where datas were imported into Geex Engine.

http://www.vimeo.com/17984928

800*600, VideoRecorder does not well-render the Engine Speed, but it's perfectly smooth, and my PC never got under 900 frames per seconds
Of course the version is available of PC and Xbox

Soon, you'll be able to use RPG Maker Xp and export datas to Geex (from 25th on) or create your game directly with Geex Edit (28th of march 2011)

If you want to be among the first to test Geex, please MP me at http://www.geexpowered.com

GeexPowered

As promised Geex Play was delivered on the 25th...well...on the 26th precisely :)
But never mind, the engine is currently being "scrutinized" by preselected beta testers, namely:
Scriptopathe
Imperium
Reyson
Thomas

We delivered the engine with the dlls and some tutorials.
Some improvements have already been taken into account, and coded like improving the Cache on xbox.

But we are delighted to say the feedback we received so far are excellent, the solution seems to exceed expectations so far

I am pretty sure these gentlemen will soon new or share some feedback with us...stay tuned

There we go finally

Here's a demo game made with RPG Maker XP, and exported to Geex. See for yourself what we can do in a simple way with the engine
You have 4 ingame days in the demo version, use them well :)
(it's a demo, so if you see bugs or glitches you are more than welcome to share them with me)

The config is both keyboard or Pad but the icons displayed are those for Pads. You can check the equivalent Pad/Keyboard in the KeyBoard.txt file
But if you can you should use a Pad

Here's the link : Right Click / Save as : http://www.geexpowered.com/sites/defaul ... pplication

So as you'll be able to see, version 1.0 of Geex is ok, the dll is done, the Geex Play RPG engine is done.
Some beta testers are still in the process of reviewing the code, but I haven't received a bug for a while now ^^

What's next then!
Geex Edit is ongoing, so we still hope to deliver the Suite :
- Geex.Run (copyright protected)
- Geex.Play (open source)
- Geex.Edit (copyright protected)
- Geex.Games....a surprise

by the end of march 2011

What about releasing games
I had a meeting with Microsoft and they are strongly interested in game not present in the live, namely RPG or aRPG
My demo (Fall of Gods) has been sent to a guy at Microsoft Arcade (I'll be sharing news with you)

Still, the indies platform is at hand, so I am looking for a new challenge and:
- A Game-Designer/Artist with a project (RMXp eventually) and who wants to work with me bringing his game to Geex
- And/Or someone who wants to work on Chapter 2 on The Fall of Gods (just event design, dialogue, 2 remaining dungeons, the rest is done)

See you soon

Yes I removed it and I will replace it with a Full Demo version in a couple of days
And for Geex Edit we are still targetting the end of march :)

The link to the playable demo is available again
Enjoy!

Please MP me if you find bugs or glitches
Next step for us will be to publish the game on Xbox live, it's currently being tested there as well

See you
Geex Powa :)

Yes, we are focusing on our first game made with Geex Suite : The fall of Gods. That's why there's no news
The game helps us to test the engine both on PC and Xbox and we'll be releasing it on Xbox live indie to show that the engine works.

I will release the game on PC as well, and the open source engine a few week after.
Talking about the editor : Geex Edit, it does not move as fast as we planned, so end of march will be a tough deadline, we will probably postpone it. Still some features are available so I guess we'll present something

GLOBAL NEWS

Count down has started, we are now ready to use Geex Suite.

What's in the suite?

We are currently packaging all the tools and documentation (in English):
- Geex Transpose to migrate rmxp datas to geex data
- Geex make, custom event commands
- Geex Run, our copyright DLL
- Geex Play, the open source RPG engine you can customize

With this 1.0 package you'll be able to Edit your game with RMXP but play the data with Geex Engine

How is it going to work?

Basically you will need:
- RPG Maker XP
- Visual Studio Express 2010 (free)
- XNA Studio 4.0 (free)
- And download the Geex Suite on our web site

Then you just have to :
- create a link between visual studio and rmxp (very easy to do and part of the doc)
- edit your game with RMXP, as usual + you can use geex make new event commands
- launch geex transpose to turn your rmxp data into geex data (take a couple of seconds)
- launch your game in Visual Studio
- custom your c# geex engine, if you need it

How can I get that?

On our site (http://www.geexpowered.com) we will share the Geex Suite FOR FREE until the end of the year for you to play and test it.
However the engine won't work after 31.12.2011 and would not allow you to publish on xbox.

For those you have an Creator Account :
- Full package include xbox dll
- licence rights
- support on our site forum
- free updates of the dll
- free scripts for the open source engine
- free resources you can use for your game (musics, graphics etc)

The Creator account is 10+10:
- 10 euros for all services above
- 10% share if your game generates revenu

Keep posted, we'll be publishing Geex Suite in the coming weeks to :
http://www.geexpowered.com users

Geex Team.

Geex Engine is online
After two years of work, two month and two days late, Geex is finally released for a public beta.
You will find it on the download page. Say "hello" Geex, "hello world" ! : www.geexpowered.ch (tools and docs)

It's made of :
Geex Make : a language to be used in RPG Maker XP to customize your events
Geex Transpose : an executable that turns your RPG Maker XP data into Geex Data
Geex Run : Our dll. That's the core c# engine
Geex Play : The open source RPG code
Geex Edit : Not yet release but you can use RPG Maker XP in the meantime to edit your games as we import the data

Let me remind you Geex is PC/Xbox compatible and we're working on a Windows Mobile version. And that The Fall of Gods, the first game made with Geex, is part of Dream Build Play microsoft contest :)

Finally, it's beta release, it's all free until the end of the year, we do all the support at our forum and we are looking for your feedback to improve our tools

Geex : A Game Engine, A Community

Sure, it's all here : http://www.geexpowered.com/
You have a doc link, and you can check "Geex Play tutorials".
And you have a download link

Basically you can run Geex.transpose.exe in your RMXP folders and then used the data in Geex Engine. Or if you use visual studio (so you can customize your c# code), you can automate the process. There are tutorials about that
And The forum is also there for questions and support

It's a beta, so any question, feedback is used to improve everything, engine, code, etc
