Games you would like to see remade.

I would like to see Vandal Hearts (psone) remade, for psp with better graphics, and make the game less combat oriented. That game had such a good plotline.

And...the big one..

Final Fantasy VII for psp. They've already remade FF1-3 on psp I believe, let's just hope it doesn't take another ten years for them to reach 7. Eventually we should see a remake, likely on ps3. But I'd love for a psp version, (hopefully not diluted like most non psp exclusive titles are), or at least a port of the original game with all the spelling errors fixed. My heart would be square's, needless to say.

By the way, any of you that had doubts about the compilation title Crisis Core were wrong.
That game gets my five stars in all areas, including graphics, (they look like...early ps2), cinematic brilliance (FMVs were better than Advent Children's CGI) and gameplay!

Ah, another old X-com fan. I'm interested to know what your take on Apocalypse was.
On subject, I would like to see all of the old RE's remeade with the RE4 engine. Naturally, they would have to greatly increase the number of monsters, or include the "wounded zombies become lickers" concept, but other than that, it would work well. I'd like to see a remake of FF9 where I might actually die once, too.

This would not work. RE4's engine is not an uprgrade from the old system but another system entirely.  For this to work, the gameplay would have be changed from defensive to offensive. The old Resident Evil and the new Resident Evil are largely incompatable because of this, but also because RE4 is really an action game rather than a horror game (with a few displaced horror moments).

The gameplay of RE4 is designed for traversing exceedingly large areas with a large amount of areas, whereas the old resident evil forces you to thoroughly go back and forth through one area unlocking every single little nitch and corner. RE4's system is designed for a linear game, where old RE is designed to be nonlinear, to an extent.

It is better than 2 is remade, with its old system intact but the availability of easier controls as well as moving camera's and sticky movements.

HOWEVER, it might be possible to remake Code Veronica to something closer to the RE4 system as long as they did not use the RE4 camera system, but something like the Camera system in the original Code Veronica or RE 3.5.

I disagree. The mansion in RE1 is about the same size as the Castle area in RE4, and is the smallest main locale. RE3 in particular would work very well, especially if the city area was made larger.

You spend more time in the RE1 mansion, but the location is smaller than the castle, and you don't backtrack in the castle, whereas you explore every nook and cranny of the mansion's small rooms and narrow hallways.

So several RE1 mansions could fit into RE4.

It would still defeat the purpose of the original gameplay's focus. To kill only what you need to kill, to use your wits rather than your ammunition, and to survive. To thoroughly explore an area before proceeding to the final area, or to the next area, and then returning to unlock the secrets you were unable to uncover before. This does not fit RE4's linear gameplay, nor does it match its offensive gameplay style.

Of course you are given a ridiculous amount of ammo on RE3's Light/easy mode, but in hard mode it is more true to the Resident Evil formula (the game was intended to be an action side game anyways)

Basically, if they were to remake RE2 or RE1 like RE4 it would piss fans off. We'd like to return to those games to play something like what the old games were, especially after Capcom will be making any new games in the style of RE4. The old RE is dead now, and I miss it, but if they were to do a remake I'd like to see them stay true to the FOCUS of the gameplay, which is survival horror and not action (although the old games had varying degrees of action game elements.

I've argued this before with you, but I'll state my opinion again. As a horror game, RE relies on cheap thrills that may make you jump once in a while, but that gets stale, and soon, it gets as generic as you claim the RE4 formula is. All you do is just run run run OH SHIT BOSS UNLOAD AMMO LOL. RE4 changed this. I actually had fun killing normal enemies as well as bosses. So I prefer the action route. However, I will say that the old RE games are like FF7. Poorly written with horribly translated lines, and that makes it a hilarious romp to go through from time to time.

Before you berate me as a kid who doesn't know the "subtlties(Fuck spelling)" of horror games, I'd like to inform you that I'm an avid Silent Hill fan, and I usually don't unload on anything in that game. SH however makes it so that conserving your items is actually fun, along with a stronger story and a better atmosphere than RE...but that digresses from the point at hand.

I want to see Phantasy Star 4 remade and localized. I think they did a remake, but I'm not totally sure as to what it entails. I know 1 & 2 were remade, and I guess they were okay. Nothing spectacular though. 4 had one of the best worlds though, and just, ugh. It was one of my favorite games of all time. Also FFVI would probably be cool in 3D.

FFIV DS says hi

I'd love to see a new Mordor/Demise game, for some reason I've been playing those games for about a decade. It seems like a simple game on the surface, but actually the layers of complexity go pretty darn far.

I would like Spyro on the nintendo DS (yes they already have that )
But with that 3D gameplay like on the PSone

Hmm.. a couple of games i would like to see remade are:

Chrono Trigger
FF7
Zombies Ate My Neighbours (haha xD)
Super Mario Bros. 3  (anyone? :D)

1.) Bahamut Lagoon for PSP or DS...Full English translation and revamped graphics....I mean this game was fun even though I didn't understand a damn word...I just can't imagine what it would be like with a story!
2.) Demon's Crest...because that is one of the best sidescrollers ever!
3.) Rock n' Roll Racing...because I don't know why.

Final Fantasy 1 with less ummm ... pointless dungeons.

Golden sun 1 and 2 for PSP or at least PC.

Remake of Dark cloud 2 so its as good as the first. First one pwned the 2nd. And Voices for party members and NPCs. Not just a little sigh in their voice tone >.>

Link to the past (add a bunch of new stuff, improve the graphics) That game was GREAT back in the day.

I liked the old series. It didn't get old to me. Just because you find the old games boring, it doesn't mean that they should just make an entirely new type of game ands lap "RE" on the title.

It'd be much better for them to just start RE4 as a new series. So the old RE doesn't have to die. It's not as if RE4 is a natural progression from the old RE games, its not even close to them.

Anyways, I've already made my point that the old RE doesn't match the new RE.

RE2, RE3, REmake were all written better than RE2. Tragically RE4 had better writing than RE0, even though the writing for RE4 was almost nonexistant. I think both Silent hill and (old) RE are viable Survival Horror games.
