Games you would like to see remade.

Final Fantasies 3-9, remade on the PS3 with modern 3D graphics, storytelling, and a better translation (especially for 4, 5, and 7).

Blasphemy. You cannot improve on the perfection that is FFIX. The graphics are keen, if not a little muddy in some areas. The storytelling is superb, unsurpassed my any. And the translation/localization is one of the best I've seen. [/super bias]

Blashpemy. This is madness!
Madness? THIS IS SPARTA!!!

You set me up for that one, Luminier.

Anyway I never expected to see some of these thought of being remade, like Parasite Eve. Chrono Trigger actually already HAS been remade (the bundle package with CT/FFIV), and FF3 came to US AS a remake. I was honestly expecting someone to say a Star Fox remake by now, and I've expected LOADS of people raving for Goldeneye remakes, but...

Chrono Trigger has never been remade.
It has been rebundled, repackaged, and shined over.  It has been ported and it has been restocked.  But never has it been remade.

(technically CT is a remake :x)

The Parasite Eve's would be awesome remakes, its really a shame that the story was over and done after only 2 releases. >.<  And yea ffvii is a given.  I think the Breath of Fire's would be a cool remake too though.

khmp doesn't like Zell being recorded stuffing hotdogs in his mouth? :3

I loved that

I think FF6-8 should be remade apart from FF7 that sucked xD

Maybe Contra it would look awesome

Really? I mean, maybe 1 & 2, but 3 & 4 featured just such gorgeous pixel art. Still to this day I'm astounded by it. And CT, too, why do you think an already beautiful 2D game should become a 3D one? I think it'd be a demotion to try and convert those titles to 3D.

Well point taken and I do agree, unfortunately they are now obsolete games for obsolete systems.  You can't buy them new anymore, so a remake is really the only way to enjoy them again.  I just don't want to see the breath of fire series die off and fade into history, I'd be just as happy seeing a bof-vi release especially done in the same style of 3-4.  I have a feeling that is unlikely though. :(

Pokémon Stadium 1+2. Come on, Battle Rev was rubbish. We want minigames on Wii!
Oh, and Gold/Silver too. Apparently Nintendo's trademarked DawnSilver and DuskGold already :D

FF9 is also my favorite Final Fantasy (i've gone through 3 copies of it just to get non-glitchy discs), and it does have the best storytelling and translation of the series imo. However, it would be nice to see it with current-gen graphics.

:O Really? Source! I need proof before I wet myself in anticipation!

I didn't understand why they didn't include mini games, either! Although I'd much rather get a new installment of the "concole Pokemon battling series" rather than a remake of an older one(s).

Halo 2, *baradum dum tshhh*
I'd love to see a next gen version of Golden Sun, even it was cliche in terms of magic and summons.

They should re-make the Michael Jackson Game From Sega Genesis! Wow, totaly just kidding.

I think they should re-do the old Shining Force games, not like that new junk, but more or less the style they did with the shining force for GBA. I loved that.
I was hoping for Shining Force II and possibley the gaiden series, but no, *sigh*

Fire Emblem 4; for the DS. I know they're remaking FE1/3 already for the DS, which is cool, but 4 is still the best in my eyes (yay for selective breeding of own units).

UFO: Enemy Unknown/ XCOM: UFO Defence; for PC. Actually, there have already been several remakes of UFO, but none have ever captured my love like the original. UFO Aftermath was a reasonable shot, but missing base management, human weapons that were generally superior to alien ones, and a frankly crappy (singular) alien species who somehow wipe out most of humanity kinda pulled the title down. Shame, cause the interceptor combat had potential, as did the upgraded soldier RPG bit.

Ah, another old X-com fan. I'm interested to know what your take on Apocalypse was.
On subject, I would like to see all of the old RE's remeade with the RE4 engine. Naturally, they would have to greatly increase the number of monsters, or include the "wounded zombies become lickers" concept, but other than that, it would work well. I'd like to see a remake of FF9 where I might actually die once, too.

Oh, Apocalypse was pretty good actually, since it had most of the stuff that its daddy had. What it missed out on, though, was the fear factor. All of your initial squad actually had armour and medikits this time, drastically increasing their survivability. And Mega-Primus was very clinical. And the large amount of interiors meant fewer issues with night missions. Oh, and the real-time mode allowed you to have many more shots at the target, meaning even rookies could get kills if you gave them a Marsec Machine gun or an Autocannon with explosive shells (fun!).

Though I suppose it did have exploding debris instead (Jezuit, tacticals in the weapons factory were SCARY!). Biological warfare was a nice touch, city interceptions were fun (though ground vehicles were crap), and X-COMs own Retaliator and Annihilator are some the coolest battlecraft to ever grace a game, even if they are retro 50's style.

Its just a shame that XP hates it. Its also too modern to run in Dosbox (was a win95 game, if I remember right). You have to get past the installer being confused by the fact your CD drive is too absurdly fast for its benchmark test to recognise. Lol at messages of "Your CD drive must be at least 4x speed to install this game, but yours is only 52x."
Even if you can get past that (manual copy from CD), sound setup requires VDMsound to confuse it into thinking you've got an AWE32 or something. And then, finally in game, mouse sensitivity and screen scrolling speed is absurd, and makes it unplayable. <Sigh>

EDIT: Lol, I just looked at my bookshelf and spotted the X-COM Apocalypse strategy guide, next to the Civ III and X-COM Interceptor guides.
