[Full Game]Absence of Vagaries I: Blood Rose

Hmm...once again this escape thing pops up. I'm going to look into this a bit further, because non of the beta testers had this problem, and I haven't had the problem personally. If I can figure it out and debug it I will surely upload a new demo.

Ok, I've been looking through the events and testing, and I've figured this much out:

There is a pause after escaping, because I'm letter the 3x move away process before the player can move again (that was to avoid walking right back into the battle).

As for the disappearing act, umm I still don't know what the hell caused that. I'll probably focus on that particular event and see if it's just that one.

Anyway, if you escape there will be a pause, but your game is NOT frozen. Depending on your FPS process (and whether or not the enemy can actually move, which is something I have to check) it might take some time to finish processing.

I won't make a new topic for AoV II until it is completed. Some of you may have been familiar with Silencing The Templars, will notice some of similar aspects from the previous version, but the game is undergoing a revision.

I'll probably have some screenshots later today. The expected release of the game is between late Feb - mid March. It'll be worth it though. I'm also working out some kinks in the story. I'll just post updates in this thread.

I ran from a battle and well its been "Paused" for like 5-10 mins :/

Ok, I've found the problem. I'll fix immediately and update the demo. Give me a few minutes because I have to edit every enemy event in the game :p

Anyway, I've fixed it and reuploaded. You can keep your saved data and reuse them.

Fix:
-Escape from battles problem(hopefully)
-Ability to access Ultimate Dungeon without beating final Nowital.
-Inability to obtain treasure in the forest.

Man I liked this game, it seemed simple but complex. Your maps were beautiful, and you were awsome with events. I noticed you didn't use any resources outside of the one
s standard with rpg maker xp; I'm impressed. (correct me if I'm wrong)

overall nice game
 
In fact you are correct. The game was made for a contest which basically forbid the use of outside graphics. It's majority RTP with the exception of the title screen I believe. It's good to see that this is still getting some publicity.

Is anyone having trouble beating the game, if so do tell me, because I can write a simplified strategy guide.

This game is amazing JSTREET, i love the mapping you did on the fort both inner and outer...its my favourite bit. Can we expect to see a sequal from you anytime soon?
 
Actually, I've been working on it.

Tbh, if I wanted to I could probably have a demo ready in something close to a week or two, but I've doing a lot of misc. spriting for other things.

The database for the game is pretty much done, aside from some animations I need to make. I already have the story down. I have my scripts in play (very few it's only like one I think.) I'm doing graphics as I see fit, so the game could be progressing in the near future.

The dilemma is whether or not to post a topic for it, or just hold back until the full game is ready, or maybe a demo is ready. I was just going to post updates in here until the full game was ready.

Hold back till the demo, cause in the case of that those who loved Black Rose will be more anxious to play on...if you release info right now it may become weary later.

I look forward to seeing the sequal though, what animations do you have to do? RTP?
 
The animations are RTP, I just would rather see some new animations then the same old, "Cross Slash." So, I'm working on some new ones. I'll probably look for some new ones, but I'm trying to maintain a certain graphical consistency, so I'm using a rather thin list of various resources from a select group of artist.

The other graphics RTP and Edits basically. A few originals from those select artists.

Believe it or not I went back and forth about 1000 times on whether or not I should use the Tactical Battle System. I know that a lot of people are going to try to implement it into their games, but those games won't really make it from the drawing board, and I wanted to actually show the potential of the system in a complete game. I'm still undecided due to the work it takes to setup each battle. Accursed laziness. :P

Oooo nice idea, i agree, the same old cross slash is just bleh really, have you thought about making the animation yourself? A little Photoshopping should do the trick.

To be honest, i'm not sure i would recommend the ZTBS lol, that may sound strange coming from me, but its generally not such an amazing system...i'm currently *very slowly* working on my own TBS, gunna be a lot better then the ZTBS as its simpler to define and theres alot more stuff you do, so its easily editiable.

Oh yeah god i know lol, setting up each map and battle is a pain in the ass. Anyhow i'm interested in seeing more, i shall keep checking in.

I would love to play it, since Silencing the Templars was great.

Congratulations, another full game completed.

I'm not quite that good with artwork period. My spriting is mediocre, and my photoshopping skills are even lower. :P I can't even make title screens.

It's good to hear someone else is working on a Tactical Battle System. Hopefully it will be a bit easier to utilize. I wish you the best of luck, because you're going to need it.

The font has not been changed, so I don't know what's going on there.

Silencing The Templars is being remade it's actually the sequel to Blood Rose.
