O.o what about the names? Will everyone have the same names on RMVX or whatever the new version is called?..And why Two differnt websites?

EDIT: And I don't like the layout of the new website(s)..this one is better.

what exactly are you asking? rmvx.org and rmvx.net will both link to rmxp.org, and it's all one site - we largely have them to have a sort of MONOPOLY on rmvx discussion (in your face, competition). the forum database will be transferred and everyone will have the same everything etc. that they do right now.

Let me tell you, when it's beneficial to move from a forum software to another one, it's usually smarter to do that. The fact that it saves some money that can be used for better hosting, contest prizes, or WHAT THE FUCK EVER is PROBABLY A GOOD THING.

It was a simple question that wasn't meant to invoke hostility. The site's been going through a lot of changes lately, and a lot of people are wondering why they should stay with the site. If there wasn't so much talk of paypal receipts not being received, etcetc. I would have sponsored back in July.

Simply put, you're doing something more cost effective so that you can...?
I'm just wondering what you want the final product to be.

That's the thing, the move to SMF isn't motivated by the cost thing much at all. It's mainly just that VB, as it is now, is a huge strain on the resources, and that problem can be solved by switching to SMF.

There are some other things I've heard about it but I'm none too clear about the specifics, so I think I'm going to just not talk about them!

I just saw this thread. And it looks wonderful. I don't think that if the implementation is as succesful as I'm sure it will, someone's gonna leave. You're just changing from one service to another, and of course, stepping up to the challenge of VX (I saw a VX.net thing there).

Anyway, whatever reasons you have, it does look cool, and SMF is IMO, a great option for such an important site.
