Flower (Hiatus)

Absolutely, sounds like a great way to teach the player while they're playing the actual game, which is what the ideal tutorial should do. It sounds well thought out, and gives some extra depth with the added backstory. Much better than a quickly tacked on tutorial, and it sounds like a nice way to introduce core game mechanics.
 
Hi all! I decided to go a darker route with my intro, but it will still cover most of the game's information. I also decided to keep you guys updated with a couple of percentages to show you the progress from v0.7 to v0.8.

v0.8 Release Marketing: 50%
Town Level 4: 0%
Military Tier 5: 80%
Bosses: 33%
Agility Dungeons: 100%!
Intro/Tutorial: 30%

I will try and update these percentages with each major update post. Also, here is a little taste of the intro.

Unfortunately, this project is now put on indefinate hiatus, due to lack of interest. I have managed to find inspiration through making the last patch and most of the unreleased one, but because I can't find people to play it and give me feedback (even when it was the lets play of the week), I have found no more inspiration from this community. Not to say all the fault lies with the community, however. I have been busy with the military, and in my spare time, dragon quest IX and patapon 3. In june I leave for basic training, and then commnav system tech schools. Not to say this project won't ever be completed, but just don't expect it to be done anytime soon, not that anyone cares anyway. This post is mostly for lurkers out there who actually played my game, and to you I say thanks. This is also a farewell post to the community as I probably won't be around until after my tech school completes, which will be around march of next year (my 20th birthday! :eek:). Goodbye, I love you all.

but the best of all time? probably frugooscape. he had like >8k players on 5 different servers at all times or something insane like that.

So it is? Ah well, Flower is basically abandonware at this point anyway. I've moved onto bigger and better things. I may remake Flower in a mainstreamed, simpler format in the future in RMVX or something. Thanks anyway, Wyatt :biggrin:
 
So I thinking about rewriting flower as the base game (the non-psycho one) where you just go around and bring color to the world by planting and managing flowers and bushes. I've been talking in PWOYM about alternative programs to write in, and I was wondering if anyone who played the game back in the day thinks that allegro would be a good option?
