Any news on the next demo?

By the way if your making all these tools wouldnt rmxp be excess after that? I mean i understand it would at least need to be instatlled, but other than that you could just forget about it surely?
 
Can somebody please upload the 2.0 Beta on another hoster? The rapidshare-link always tells me, that the download-session is expired. Please give me another link. :( I want to test the 2.0 Beta, too! :D
 
hi, i have been following this thread for a while, as i have some plans for a ff6 based game. sasha, i see you asked for some suggestions for the editor. i was thinking it would be nice to have the option to add a "+ game" like on Chrono Trigger. it could have its own checkbox with a few suboptions, such as whether your lvs, items, gold would reset or not. might be some extra work, but i just wanted to throw that one out there.

by the way, thank you for this awesome editor/remake, i found out about your project just as i was starting mine, and otherwise i would have done lots of redundant work. i think i might have posted something before about wanting to help. celes is ripping animations. is there some other grunt work you need help with?
 
Man I want to test it, too! Can somebody give me another link for the 2.0 Beta Demo? Rapidshare-link does not work. Is expired. :(

That's better :P Yes I will add a sort of default scene editor, letting you change a couple of things in the default scenes. And it's funny that you talk about the credits because I spent some time in making it better and it's now much more customizable. And I have created a quite flashy fading effect on it! ;)

About the next demo: I'm planning on releasing it during the next week. I still have a couple of things to add, but there is no walkthrough break. I can play the whole demo from the beginning to the end without any problems. I also have a friend who's beta testing it and gives me feedbacks on a regular basis.

About the editor and RMXP: In theory, when the editor will be finished, RMXP will become useless for the FF6 SDK. It will only be needed because of the EULA and other legal things. (And VX to, because of the RGSS2 Player and Library... But... Well...)

2.0 is outdated and the New Year demo was very buggy so, can't you just wait a little bit and let me time to release the demo of 3.0? I'm sure you can do that. :)

First time someone calls me by my real name here in 5 years, it feels kinda weird. :P
I was already planning on adding a New Game + option to my remake but never thought of addind options for it in the editor. Excellent idea. ;)

It hard for me to ask for help, because I prefer doing this myself, but I noticed how faster this project grows since people like Celes_Cole are helping me with ripping stuff. So to answer your question, the things I need the most are graphics and sounds. Especially GFX (like battle animations) and SFX. I know, these are hard to rip :P If you can't or don't want to rip that, don't be afraid to say no, anything else you can share will be useful.

@Dargor and some other people:

The problem with battle animations USE to be aligning them.. now it's just doing the damn animations... or rather the animation length. I cannot rip Phoenix down. It's impossible, but I have this packet of FFVI battle animations you can use... But I will get to ripping them... all I have to do is convert them, be back in a jiff!

Actually... after converting them and stuff.... I think I DO approve. They aren't half bad. Some you will have to recreate the whole animation though.

Also, Dargor, if there is a specific list of battle animations you want, just make a list in TXT. It'd be easier that way XP.
 
I got an idea since you're going to help with the animations. We can split it up... say like you can do the black magic spells while I can do the white magics... hmmm maybe I could also do the Green Magic while you do the Items... I don't think we will have to to rip too many actual weapon animations... but maybe... hmm..

Oh and I have the SFX covered, so don't worry =P... I ripped like 80 something sounds from FFVI.

Ah no, the next demo will be a reconstitution of a specific scene from the game. The jammed Engine in Figaro Castle with Gerad. It will show how a remake of the game could look like with my SDK.

As for the editor, a first version will be released with the official release of 3.0.

YaaaY! Good to know. Yesterday afternoon I played Final Fantasy VI ... the opera :cry: and zozo :boo: scene! :D
 
Your battle timing and battle menu need a lot of work.

I had issues selecting things, they didn't update properly, and it erred while trying to save, crashing the game.

I liked what I saw though, until it crashed.
 
I've ran into a few bugs on the first fight XD...


Battle doesn't really work O.o... like I can't attack or anything... I'll update you if i can get further.


Okay, the bugs:

This wasn't all that bad of a demo! Really, all you had were small battle bugs. Running way... lets start with that. Okay, if it is someones turn, and they run away... well you can't do much of anything. Secondly it's not really a constant flow.... like I can't select an attack until a monster does their attack. Oh and the savepoint... yeah.

But other than that, not a bad demo!


Edit: I observed the demo more... and well, the window box doesn't dispose. Hmm.... I think that's it. Btw, your Menu is basically done XD except with config.
 
Yes I've slacked a bit too much on the battle timing. The reason why you can't process any command input is because, when someone does it's action, it starts phase4 of the battle. Command input occurs in phase3 so I have to find a clean way of updating phase3 during phase4.

For the save crash, do you have a Save directory in the game folder? That's the first thing I can think of. Otherwise, there must be something broken in the save/load system... :/

And, which window box are you talking about? I just played the demo yesterday and crashed near the end after triggering a battle. And most of the time when game.exe crashes, it's because something isn't disposed.

Anyway, thanks a lot for the reports. These are very important!
I'll start writing down a version history.
