There once was a time when the people of these lands worshipped the Eidolons as if they were gods, and as a reward for our conviction they granted us some of their energy to help protect us from the darkness that threatened to tear us apart, we call this power "Mysterium"
But when the Order took over faith in the old spirits was lost and we became servants to an ancient sentient crystal known as the Anima.
The Order said that the Eidolons were arrogant abominations who were keeping the most powerful Mysterium to themselves so they showed us how we could bind the Eidolons to Issia, and take their energy from them through force.
At first some people objected to this, but the Mysterium made our lives a lot easier. We started to build machines we could never imagine in the ancient days and our cities became fuelled by their power.
But this stolen power has come at a cost.
The Corrupted have began to pour through the rifts between worlds and the very fate of the cosmos may hang in the balance.
Dark times have befallen the continent of Issia. A government of religious zealots called simply "The Order" have overtaken the lands and everything in it is subject to there will, those who oppose are destroyed quickly and silently by their Inquisitors and the feared Templar's. The Order has taught the people to abandon their faith in their primal spirits and focus their worship on an ancient Crystal monolith known as the Anima. They have begun summoning and binding the Eidolons to extract Mysterium from them against there will, and as they do so the lifeblood of the very universe is lost.
The Order may rule supreme but there are those with the courage to stand up to them. A dissipate and highly secretive group of rebels fight a dire battle against this insurmountable foe. Now a young man sent on what seems a trivial mission may uncover the secret to destroying the order and uncovering his own mysterious past.
This is a Final Fantasy story and in it are present many of the themes of the series. Yes there are Chocobo's, Moogles, Summons, and an Engineer called Cid but more so than that I'm trying to infuse my project with the deep sense of characterisation and the unique narrative style that we all know and love. I will be happy if I even come close to that.
Noa Osma
Age: 21
Height: 5'11
Job: Ex-Templar
Weapon Sword

"I fight because I believe."
Noa is the games protagonist. He is a capable soldier who has a strong conviction to fighting the Order, a conviction founded in a depraved past. Noa is a lively individual who will stand up for those in need, often on impulse and to the trouble of his companions.
Noa was once a member of the Orders holy knights, The Templars and is the only know example of anyone who has managed to turn away from them after contact with the fabled Anima. On his journey he will discover more about who he is and what he truly fights for.
It is customary for all new Templars to be brought before the monolith known as the Anima and when they touch its surface they are forever joined to its sentence and bound to its will.
When the Anima spoke to Noa and told him find his fellow Templar, a sadistic man name Sargus and journey to the the small village of Shar he did so obediently. After his arrival it commanded that he slaughter all who stood and burn the place to the ground. As Sargus began destroying all in sight, somehow Noa managed to break his link with the Anima. He took up his blade and it was Sargus he struck, severing his arm. But it was too late. Sargus's powerful magic had burned the town to ash and all save a small girl lay dead.
Noa took the girl in his arms and told Sargus to return to the Anima and tell it the next time he would touch it would be when he looked down upon it, shattered too pieces.
After these events Noa was branded a Heretic and he joined the rebel group that seek to take down the Order.

Ceana Moonstar
Age: 20
Height: 5'3''
Job: Priest

Limit White Wind
"Faith is sometimes belief even in the absence of truth."
Both beautiful and kind it would shock most to learn that Ceana is a devout priestess of the Order. She embodies an unearthly grace that few can ignore when they meet her. But a chance encounter with some Heretics may question that faith, and set her on a path that will change her life forever.
Cid Laruke
Age: 42
Height: 5'9''
Job: Engineer
Weapon Blunderbuss
Limit Tinker
A brilliant genius inventor, Cid is something of an eccentric within the group. He joined the rebel group Scion some years ago after the death of his wife Hilda at the hands of the Order. Some would say that Cid had something of a breakdown after this event and he has never been quite the same since. He believes that humans function much like the machines he creates, a philosophy that will be challenged during his quest for revenge.
This is by no means a comprehensive list and will be updated with new characters as development continues.

Mysterium System
The game uses a progression system called Mysterium and it functions as follows:
Basically Mysterium Cores can be equipped to weapons, armour and accessories much like materia but unlike materia each of the three Core types can only be equipped to one item type as follows:
- Weapons can equip Magic Cores and grant a single magic spell such as Fire, Blizzard and Thunder. They grant passive effects such as elemental reistance and damage.
- Armour can equip Support Cores that grant a variety of passive effects such as increased HP, eveade chance, Improved critical and so on. These passive effect tend to be stronger than the ones granted by the other two cores.
- Accessories can equip Job Cores that grant new battle commands such as the Thief Core granting steal as well as related passive effects
Unlike materia there is no "paired slots" each item has a set number of single slots: weapons have many, armour have a few and the best accessories in the game only give you 3 job slots.
Each Mysterium Core gains experience much like materia, but unlike materia you select from a range of abilities that you want to learn from a list within the Core.
For example, lets take the Thief Job Mysterium Core. When you equip it to your accessory for the fist time it grants you the Steal Battle Command as well as a single pre learned passive effect which is Speed +5% You can then select from a list of other abilities to learn:
- Speed +10% Cost: 200 AP
- Bandit (Causes a small amount of damage when Steal is used): 300AP
- Backstab (Improved the chance of a critical hit) Cost: 500 AP
When the AP has been gained the ability is then able to be used. So long as the Core is still equiped, when removed abilities are lost. The Core itself also levels up from level 1 to 2 after 300 AP and Mastery at 1000AP. This is important as to make new Essence core existing ones have to be fused.
Mysterium fusion is unlocked pretty early in the game and is the backbone of the whole system. By combining two Cores and an item a new core can be created that inherits abilities of each. If a mastered Thief Job Core, an evade support core and a Ninjitsu scroll are combined the Ninja Job Core is created. There are going to be dozens of combinations to try and create for yourself.

Active Time Events
The game has Active Time Events like those seen in Final Fantasy 9. The system functions much as it does in that game in that when an on screen promp is shown and the player presses the action button he is shown a cut scene that happens in "real-time"
An example screen is shown below:
