FF7

Sephiroth doesn't really have much personality in the game, mainly because he is frozen throughout all of it. That wasn't Sephiroth who sabbed Aerith >_>.

And no, VII didn't have the biggest story, biggest piece of dump maybe, but it isn't too original. The biggest story is probably VI or X (as little sense as it may seem)

I'm fair about rating games, but VII wasn't a big woop. The story wasn't as big as every LOVES to say it is.

ff7 story is biggest if you count the total ff7 serie ... (advent children , Dirge of cerberus)

its not  a perfect game its moderate ..
Biggest in serie is like Celes_cole says 6 .

Ah the FFVII series. Well, yeah. Of course. The original team did VII (uh) and they didn't really work on Crisis core, ect. And actually, I like IV more ALMOST. I just liked that amano Terra. VI has more memorable. VII was okay the first time I played, but I can never get into it again. It bored me. Midgar was boring. Outside Midgar was boring to me.

Really? I love that sort of dystopian-future slums thing.

To me, I dunno, FFVI was pretty dull. I'm an atmosphere guy, and the music and the like wasn't as appropriate or captivating as seven or four or whatever. Not bashing your opinions, though; everyone's gonna have their favorites, yano?

I know. I'm not a fangirl at all. I'm not going to bash out the opinions others make. Of course, I probably didn't list why I didn't like the game. Now, when people say they HATE a game without giving details, I bash them for that.

This is my point. Instead of claiming that FFVII "has the biggest dump" instead of story; you could just say that "it's not as good as FFVI, in my opinion". I loved FFVI too, but I still like to think of FFVII as the best.  ;)

I hope you see my point. It's all about keeping away from the generalisations.

Personally, I love FF7 and it got me started in the FF games (been playing RPGs long before it though). I remember at first not liking it, but it ended up growing on me (I love Disk 2 the best, especially the scene right before
they parachute into Midgar

There was something heart-warming about it)

However, having said that, it's not my favorite RPG, nor is it my favorite FF game. If I had to pick an FF game, though, it would be a tie with FF9 and FF6. I felt there was a lot more character development in both games as opposed to FF7.

For the record FF7 is my favorite RPG and favorite game to date.
Now first all my friends hate the game and keep telling me "It's the first RPG you played."
Now for starters no it's not, it's the first RPG I toke seriously.
Okay well anyway when I was young I had a NES (soon followed by SNES) and well the games collection we had was made up by my sister and brother, this was pretty much Mario games, spelling games I don't give crap about, and Final Fantasy.

Well at this time I was quite young, and FF games are quite "text heavy" but I normally played with my brother who explained things to me.
So I didn't really like the games as such, we just didn't have a large library of games to pick from.

Years passed by of Mario and FF games. and when I was in grade 3 one of my friends was IN LOVE with Final Fantasy games and most of all 7. I can't remember why I did this but one some deal I agreed that I will play the game from start to at least disk 2.

Finished!

I loved the game so much that I played it all in like 2 weeks.
I agree with what someone said before, the start is slow.
But all games have got to build up to something.

And another thing what someone said above that the graphics are crap. What do you expect it was the very first game to try out a new 3D Engine and use PS1's coding language, but in my opinion they did a kick ass job of it. One last thing, compare to 3D games made at the same time, then reply back.

I got a bit off topic...
So anyway after playing FF7 I went back and completed all my old FF games.
FF7 made me appropriate the whole RPG genre, for my closing... FF7 FTW!

How old was this friend of yours? If he was in 3rd grade, wow... that mother didn't really care what the kid learned. The game is cuss-heavy, with an ALMOST sex scene. Cloud dressing up like a girl. No... no... ew... Cloud + dress = ew...

Okay. I have gotten why I didn't like FFVII:

1. The fanboys- Fanboys are horrible, especially FFVII fanboys. They praise the game to heck, ruin it for everyone else. I truely think VII fanboys had truely ruined this game, but I hate fanboys for that.

2. The maturity- I'm only 14 years old... barely cuss on the internet. I'm not perverted, I'm no anime freak, Nomura isn't my favorite person. The game has loads amounts of cussing, alchohal references, smoking references, sex references, cross dressing references, really really bad grammar, too.

3. Cloud- I just hate Cloud. He is okay until Aerith ( http://youtube.com/watch?v=9bu30OBzJC8 ) dies.

4. Sephiroth- He had plenty of BG but not enough Personality.

5. The game was boring IMO.

I have to say that FF7 was a lot of clichés but also how many games do you see that is so orginal, then i want them named now! :P

Shadow Hearts games (Koudelka included)
Emphermal Fantasia
.hack
Wild ARMs...

There are a lot that are pretty original.  Maybe not always in terms of story, but everything else about the game makes up for it (setting, battle system, ect).

Edit:Oh, and Silent Hill 2 should go up there as well.
