Ok, the plot hasn't been updated since Late last Fall (I apologize) and the new revision in my head is pretty hard to put in words (again, sorry)

Ok,
1)You are not the leader of the group, and this hardly plays a part in the game (really just the first chapter or two)
The corrupt empire happens to be a belief, if I may. Not the church itself, but the diety behind it, or what they believe in.
So there really is no empire, just a puppet (plot change!!!)

2)
-My descriptions are horrible, and the first impression will show you more of who he is.
-Michael is quite a bit different - in fact, he is no longer a partner, but rather an enemy. (plot change!!!)
-Heh, yea, I really hate myself for the mysterious girl, but I'm hoping her personality ingame will freshen things up a bit
-Saika, actually, is one of the most popular japanese girl names (despite it being a surname, and as you said, pretty masculine.) Saika sees something in Asea rather than Asea liking her. Of course, Asea is oblivious to this, but would care if he knew. (plot change!!!)
But she's subtle about it, and it's not immediate at all

Uggh, looking at it again, I can see alot of stereotypes in my plot, cliches and the whatnot. But then again, what hasn't been done?

3) Nope, not anymore. It's all on ground now.

4) Sorry about that ^^; Guess you can't see the menu now. I would give you the file, but I don't have it myself. It's something built into the script, and I hadn't yet gotten that far I suppose

I hope this clears a few things up.

Aww, don't worry about not having clear-cut revisions. This is just me, but I prefer to take the Shigesato Itoi approach to plot: you know what's happening, but everything is always subject to change, right up until the last day before you have to ship the finalized product.
 
Heh, thanks for the reassurance. Glad I'm not the only one.

I can't do anything on the computer with NID, since my computer is currently fucked up. But I can still use the internet on this computer.
Until I get 7 working properly ^^;
 
Hm, I'm going to be really picky about little things as I play the demo, because a lot of things have already been mentioned, several times, and I want you to hear different stuff.

Maybe a subtle sound effect when moving the cursor on the menu screen.

Yep, maps are horribly huge, but I guess you know that by now. Even if they're not finished will all the buildings, still shrink it to about a third of the size. The only way is to have is look good at that size is if you're literally going to add like 50+ more buildings and townspeople.

I don't like the red windows. In the menu it sorta looks okay because the rest matches, but on the maps it clashes really bad with the rest of the map. It probably shouldn't be so bright a red, and should be desaturated some or something.

Okay, really everything seems unfinished. There's a lot of little bugs and issues. I don't know if you're aware of them or not. I'll try to focus on your story concept:

Yes, it seems rather cliche with the evil empire seeking power and there being an underground group forming. I am interested in this artifact or what have you that the church is after. If you elaborate more on the nature and origins of that, like where it came from, what it does, how to use it, it can make your game more original.

The characters all seem to have dark personalities, but I guess that's the feeling you want. I don't know, maybe it'll work.

The Asea sprite is pretty well done, btw.

I've heard enough about the maps. My mapper has created new ones, so they are no longer an issue
I have got a collection of window graphics to go through and choose a good one.
In the 2-3 chapters, more info will be put down for you, but for now, I can't say what it is, as it would ruin alot of stuff.

But I will say some story changes:
1. Michael's Soul is now inanimate
2. The game takes place on the ground now (which I said before. but in a spoiler)

MAIN POST UPDATE
A bit smoother, easier to read.

I also tweaked the story and characters. I have removed the floating-cities idea, and made Michael's soul inanimate.

I have started production again! :')
The intro is done, and am starting Chapter 1
Expect it, RTP version, this summer!

Ah. It means Fall, as in the technical months of Fall - September 20/21 - December 20/21 ~2010
So I'm thinking somewhere in those few months. Maybe earlier. It's an old release date, and the new one is Summer, but Fall seems more reasonable, now that I think about it...
 
Update:
In the main post, I uploaded the new plot, and character descriptions, a new concept drawing for Saika, the church government description in the "Detailed" spoiler, and some other misc edits.

I'm sorry I haven't updated this thread for 2 months. I've been working on concepts and ideas for the game.

I want to add a feature for special terrains: mud makes you walk slower, road faster, and such; as well as a much better sprinting system.

I'll be working alot over the summer. 16 hours on the plane should be enough to do alot :P

aka abreaction! Nice on the progress you've made, sorry I disapeared back then I went back to school, so sorta gave up on rpgmaker/photoshop, I like the new title btw. Also the screens look pretty awesome :P

Personality: Kindhearted, easily depressed, attached. When she has an opinion, she has very strong feelings about it, and will even try to convince you into agreeing.
Info: Her parents were both killed by the disease, and she was left alone for the rest of the dark days. She meets Asea after the sacrifices, and joins the activists with him. Seemingly, she's Asea's only friend.

- I'm at a loss on how to progress on these tunnels; maze-like or straightforward, Ab?
- RMXP is being anal right now and I'm having trouble. I'll try to fix this.

I really like the art for Saika! Is that a final look or do you plan on modifying it later?
