@ratty: So, we decided to put some thought into the whole 'how do dragon riders hear' thing. ^^
The webs of their ears catch the vibrations of the sound around them and funnel them down a channel located at the base where the web joins the main part. (Thus as their ears get beat up in old age, their hearing starts to decline.)

An interesting note, the design of their ears is also extra sensitive to the lower ranges of Dragon's Speak, (since the ears are similar to a dragon's own) allowing them to understand the race.

@pokemorpher: Man that old demo is short ^^; Glad you enjoyed. We put alot of effort into those graphics, not too mention the world, even if the demo is only a incredibly quick glimpse.

Feature Update

Wait... what's this? New features AFTER the beta test? Well... my part for the next demo is more or less done, and I had an urge to design and script so........ yeah ^^; The one feature will defiantly be included for demo 2.0, the other is tentative (I have to script it first after all :p)

First off: a new look for the Save/Load screen. I've always wanted to ditch the old one, but inspiration had never hit. Well, it finally did, so I present, the new Save/Load screen: (this is not a mock-up... cheated save file, yes, mock-up, no)

The center file is the selected one. The others are dimmed out. When you press up or down to select a new file, the save slots spin. The part of your party with big faces is your active party, the small faces is your reserve. Oh, and there's now 9 save files instead of 4!

Secondly, this feature has only been mocked-up and not scripted yet, but it shouldn't take too long:

As you adventure, you'll gather maps of the various areas. These can be accessed from your Valuable Items menu. They'll show useful info such as Landmarks, Towns, Your location, as well as your target destination (when applicable)

For those people still playing the older demo, which is really why I'm here, you're being cheated! If the old one was great, you might as well just give up right now, cause the next one is far improved and mucho superior.

You know, if you come across last page now it seems kind of funny... you guys are project watch, and there's a nice little message about how nice it is to be picked, good luck to use ziners and all...

And now both Makio and Rach have sexy pink badges too boot! Just don't look at my badge and my sig, else it might seem us at RMPost be biased!
 
Yeah, like 60.25 said, you guys are in for a real treat. I personally suggest everyone keep an eye out on the upcoming demo. it's really, REALLY worth the wait.


(Plus, it'll hold you off until i totally destroy them with my game :p)
 
Ahh...you all make me want to apologize that it's not out yet! XD Hopefully Fof---FalloftheTyrant will be done with his school assignment soon, and we can have our songs and put them in and----do you know how much it kills Racheal and I to wait releasing this? lol n.n' We're really hoping for a release in November! Hoping....Fingers crossed. n.n

Hmm... I'm torn on waiting and playing again with proper music, or actually trying to get work on my template and project and pretending like I'm going to one up you guys.
 
Dear me...This is the last time I attempt to get a picture with 7 people done in three days...seriously, if it was going to go wrong, it went wrong. Between having to readjust to a smaller tablet for the line art, to the internet crashing a thousand billion times when trying to upload, to the internet completely crashing last night, to the version with flat colours not appearing in our FTP where Racheal uploaded it---to putting my Pro card in the SD slot on my computer and affectly prying it out with a paperclip. (yes...in some way that is related to this)
BUT we made it. We made it before our clocks hit midnight.

Finally decided to start playing with custom animations today. Took a long while to get started on these, because I wasn't sure the best way to tackle them. (didn't like the style of the RTP ones, super sparkly ones didn't match the style of the battlers...)
In the end I came up with something Racheal and I both like.
Screenshots really don't do animations justice, but here are a couple anyway.

The new user animation for spells (there's a different one for skills). Thanks to Racheal and her snazzy script editing, this animation shows under the battlers rather than over. :thumb:

Anyway, working on a dungeon that may or may not appear in two point zero, depending on time, when other resources get done, and all that lovely jazz.  This place is called Benga Peak, a nice dusty mountain...dusty and kinda dry.  Anyway, here are some screenshots!

DEATH BUNNY!!!  Contrary to popular belief, death bunny is just a place holder and will not be featured in the final game.  Sorry to disappoint you all. (what popular belief said that anyway???)

Please don't ask why Darin's armour kept falling off and reappearing the entire time I was trying to take this photo shoot.  He's the most uncooperative model you'll ever meet!  (no...there is no plot reason for that...simply my inconsistency at screenshoting)
Also there might just be a more interactive look at Benga lurking around the internet, somewhere.

Now for some artwork!  Because...everyone likes long rambling updates that no one reads 100% of.
First, a look at a new battler for Benga.

Obviously incomplete in the shading department, but getting there.  Benga will feature at least 3 other new enemies, that don't even have pencil sketches yet.  (Mr. Scorpion feels lucky)
And also, two new artwork artworks.
Players of 1.1 won't know these two---okay, only our Beta Testers will.  Anyway, everyone needs to draw their NPCs once in a while, right?

This is Melena and Ti'el, two residents of the second town in the game.  It's strange....Drawing from that angle, so it's probably pretty off.

This started out as a late night paint doodle drawn while listening to the title screen song.  Then it got coloured...then it got coloured (after better line art was made) again by Racheal, then it got coloured a third time when Racheal decided to go all sparkley Shoujo on me.
This has no plot relevance at all.  I just...wanted to draw it.  : ) That happens sometimes right?  But seriously, I look at it now, and still don't know what it means.  n.n'

And that's the end of this rambly-I-think-my-brain-snapped-from-working-on-the-game-all-day update.
 
Lovely new art works as usual. I think a lot of the new things are improving in terms of depth, notably the last one posted. I also really like the shapes of the giant rock formations, although they do seem a bit erm... smooth? When comparing to its surroundings at least.

This project looks absolutely astounding, I must say!  The artwork is original, the tilesets are original, even the music!  Oh my god!  *runs around in circles*  Hey and Kix looks a lot like my main character--with the scarlet/crimson hair and definitely with that mark on her eye--only she's a girl.

Really, though, this game looks gorgeous.  I'm going to download it in a little bit!  Keep up the fantastic work!

Just so Love and Aran know, what you're downloading is a really OLD demo.  It doesn't look quite as nice as the demo we're working on now.  n.n  But I hope you enjoy it.

What a cool game! Non RTP characters, sprites and tilesets. Custom menu and the talent system. The victory screen is also nice. The BGM kicks ass. High quality sound plus good composition, why would you need another composer? The story plot is also interesting. There are minor flaws in the graphics but the full version will be better, right? Good luck for you, Dragonfly team! Great work.
