Enex 2 [COMPLETE]

It's a bump and putting up some new screenies. Maybe I'll stick these on the front page.

Welcome to the Ninurta Stagnants, a land filled with rot, decay, and endless swarms of hungry insects. After the strange beings known as "The Putrefaction" moved into, the once pleasant (though very wet) land took a turn for the worse. Located inside the swamp is a cave of stagnation where vile abominations lurk and the air always smells rancid.

Visitors are reminded to bring antifungal foot cream or they will suffer some itchiness.

It looks like you use rain a bit too much. You said this is supposed to be a long game, though, so reuse of gimmicks/effects isn't too terrible. =D This looks awesome overall, and I can't wait to play it.

I didn't mind the old windowskin myself, but the new one is still better.

@Crazetex, yeah that's pretty much my opinion on the windowskins. But it was rather overwhelming the amount of dislike for the old one so I had to change it XD

Looking at my screenshots, it does look like rain is overused. However, rain really isn't all that common in my game. 3/4 of those rainy screenshots all take place in the same General Area. (The Swamp rain is the same rain in the Holy Water making game and that monestary is backed up right next to the swamp too. The swampy area is just one of my favorite places so I accidentally took too many screenshots of that place =P)

Thanks for the positive comments, Third333 Strike!

Heres some screenshots to keep people interested...
kakuremorifrightzk4.png

Heres a image from the Kakure Mori Forest. The theme of it is "Dark and Spooky". Throughout out the forest, Nymphs will attempt to frighten the heroes into leaving the forest through terrifying hallucinations and horrible shrieks.

This is represented by pictures such as the one above (Yay RTP battlers!) flashing across the screen and loud shreaking noises being played absolutely expectantly. For those of you who do not like surprises such as that, there is an option to turn them off, but where's the fun in that?

I have to thank "The Man" for the idea actually. After playing his game I decided something like that would be the perfect way to spice up the forest.

This depicts the seaside town of Largmenton. A seaside wood by the name of the Keykoy Glade surrounds the town.

I Love this area of the game...

Here is one of the "puzzles" in the Ninurta Stagnants, a swamp area of my game. You have one second to choose a direction to jump before you slip into the water and must restart and fight one of the creatures swimming in the water.

You only jump in straight lines, and you move in a magnitude of two units. Landing in the water (easier than it looks, as you have to make your decision extremely quickly and there are tons of rocks that look like you could land on them, but theyre just one unit short of it.) will do the same as slipping into the water: restart and fight a creature.

I seriously cannot wait to play this :D
It's on my list of games to look out for!
Your screenshots are awesome, and whenever I see your name on the screenshot thread as the new poster, I quickly rush to see what you've come up with
It seems like a cool game.
Looks like there's a lot of fun minigames in it too.

One of your screens on this page also inspired me to revamp one of my forest areas :)

Can't wait!  :thumb:

PS: That rainbow forest looks really cool!

I've been seeing screens of this posted about the screenshot thread and slowly but surely my interest has been building. Currently it's built to the "hey wow this is one of about 3 RMXP games I want to play" levels.

So, er, yeah, it looks fantastic.

crossingthechasmzy0.png

Part of the Fimbeln Glacis area mentioned earlier, here is a reflex based minigame where you must cross a gaping chasm. Your mage has managed to create a delicate ice bridge. Of course, constructing the ice bridge is very difficult, and cannot be made perfectly. As such the blocks tend to be a.. scattered. If you step on the ice bridge, the slipperyness will cause you to constantly be moving forward, so don't slip off! Theo can blow gusts of win at you to make you do a Jump up, right, left, or down 2 spaces. The reason the bridge appears to be missing the south block to get your character over there, is that as you step on a block it melts very shortly after, causing you unable to jump backwards and forwards over and over again to think for a bit.

@Justice: Thank you very much! One of the three, eh? What's the other two? =)
@Zammysoul: Ah thank you! I'm glad to see you're interested in my screenshots =). Which screenshot?

Hehe, I guess posting a lot on the screenshot forum is getting a bit more of the publicity I had hoped to receive.

Awesome Bro

Wow Erichermit, those screenshots look amazing, your mapping is great, it looks like a really good game and I can't wait to play it !

@jbrist: Thank you! =) I'm glad you enjoy the screenshots

@ellenor: Thanks for the compliment! Well, I'm hoping to have it finish by early Summer, but I'm sure all of you know how it isn't always easiest to get things done on time. I will never bring myself to rush the ending of this game, so if it takes me longer than that, I'll just have to bump back the release date.

I have a new screenshot for viewers of this topic! I think I'll move it to the front page soon actually, as I really like it.

fimbelncaveqw6.png

Deeper in the Fimbeln region lies a frozen cave with magma running through it. How does the ice remain unmelted? Some say it may have something to do with the strange rumors of a particularly vicious haunt dwelling in the cave. Some claim it some strange phantasm of fire, while others claim it has an ice like affinity. Other say there are, in fact, TWO wretched spirits living in the cave.

Also, a side note to avoid any confusion. I'm sure those of you have played Master of Wind have noticed a similar kind of cave: An Ice cave with lava in it. I'd like to go ahead and defend myself here. First of all, I had been planning a dungeon like this long before I played MotW. When I saw that dungeon while playing it, I was very worried about it and considered not making this dungeon a fire/ice dungeon at all, but I've decided to do it anyway. The idea of making a dungeon like this came from my series of side bosses. You see, I love games to have "Super Bosses", such as Ruby Weapon, Ozma, Abyssion, etc., so I wanted Enex2 to have some. As such I have made a series of side bosses named after the rivers of Hades. Acheron, Cocytus, etc. One of the bosses is the duo "Phlegethon and Eridanos", one of which is a river of fire and the other a river of ice. I decided I wanted him to have one room in where you would face him in an ice cave filled with lava. Then I decided, that looks really cool, I'll make a whole dungeon like that!

Wow. How do you get all these ideas? I love the things you cook up as minigames! Screenshots are still awesome as usual. I can't wait to play it.

Amazing. I love the screens that you have posted, especially that chasm one. It really inspires me to get to work on some of the dungeons that my game sports. Great work!
