I'm sorry if you feel that I haven't listened to your feedback, because I have and I have decided to make some new changes because of it. Your concerns about there being too much blue in the game have led me to try to use more interesting colors in certain maps in the subway. And to tone down the blue and make the police department more green.

But don't be mad at me just because I don't follow all of your advice, or am hesitant to at first.

Yes, they did.

I am perfectly fine with your criticism. Thank you for your input. But ultimately it is my game.

Well, except that people rarely care enough about completed games to post anything other than praise, simply because you've showed that you've got the mettle to finish a game. Blind praise is something that the Dudes Upstairs are trying to phase out -- we're notorious on other boards for a huge deficiency in useful criticism. You can't consider "lol good job" a legitimate opinion unless it's absolutely clear that you've earned it, and that the poster sincerely finds the game perfect.

If it's "ultimately your game," well, that's nice. The issue, though, is that you keep asking for criticism when you want nothing but praise, and remaining mostly immobile where it matters. You've added a change in screen tone, sure, but as soon as it was proposed that you take steps to do things like make your graphics consistent you planted your feet solidly in the topsoil.

I've seen some of your unedited posts from the thread that most of this conflict is spilling over from, and you were certainly not "hesitant." You were much more standoffish than your words admit, even to the point of directly attacking the judgement of other members.

Besides, when you ask for criticism and later reveal that you only planned to make the most minute changes, it's bound to tick a lot of people off because in the end it just amounts to an opportunity to grandstand.

In these forums, you need to be able to take criticism and put good advice to use. I'm aware that you have the veto, but you've been using it to remain stationary while still grabbing attention by asking for advice.

I understand that I had made some posts out of frustration EDITED FOR CLARITY AND TO FINISH THE THOUGHT: that were immature and stupid. I have already apologized for them.

Let me explain how I feel about this particular game now: The original game was a success, but I was not happy with some aspects of it, namely the fact that you could skip through text boxes, the short nature of the game which others had brought up, the fact that I was not happy with the mapping of the police station, as it was originally designed for use of a gun, and the fact that I used rtp music in the project.

I addressed all of these issues. The purpose of this game was to release a game that I could be happy with, because I was not fully content with Crepusculum. After i addressed all of these issues, the issue of darkness was brought up again and after that the opinion that the game is too blue. As well as the opinion that the grpahics do not mesh well together.

I did make the step to fix the darkness. I was hesitant to get rid of the blue, mostly because I had trouble finding better colorschemes to fit the areas in the game, and especially because, believe it or not, I liked the blue and I was happy with it. But after several people also shared their opinion, I voiced that I would try to make it less blue.

I do not want nothing but praise. If I had recieved nothing but praise, I never would have truly fixed the darkness issue.

Ultimately it is not that I cannot take criticism. It is that I am not willing, or I am hesitant to make certain changes to a game that I am already content with and am about ready to release. I do not have the resources to redo the entire graphics of the game. And honestly, I want to move on. If the graphics turn you off so much, then don't play it.

Just because I do not make the changes you want me to make, or am not willing to invest further time in a project that I feel is complete and that I want to move on from does not mean that I am not listening. Because I am.

I do not plan to make changes that will set back the release past May 1st.

DING DING DING. We have a winnar!  Finally things are starting to look up on this thread.  If he doesn't accept your opinion, forget about it, it's ultimately not gonna change anything, but just provide some bad moods in a place that doesn't need it

Red Chimera.  You obviously know your stuff.  You make perfect sense and your reasoning and logic is grand.  I must say your maturity is highly above most people in this forum and it is an honor to meet you.

But, if he asked for criticism.  I still think that it would be his choice whether or not to use what you had to say or not.  You must understand that all in all, when someone may like one thing and someone likes another.  Pleasing everybody is not an easy task.  This goes with all things in life.  Granted, like many companies.  They accept feedback, but they will not always accept what you had to say

That's life.. Period

Starwhatevercrap, please stop posting inflammatory remarks toward our staff! You have already been warned for such things, and I do not wish to do it again.

The next person in this thread who posts something is not specifically about the game, and is in fact about the conduct of the forum staff will be issued a warn. This thread is not about the mods, it is about CrepwhatevererX. If you have a problem with a specific moderator, then please, take it up with them via PM.

Where did he insult the staff? He even commended a member of the staff. o_O;

Alright, alright I'm stepping in now. It doesn't matter anymore who said what, towards whom, WHATEVER. Everyone who posts in this thread will be expected to post about THE GAME PROJECT. I'm only going to say this once:

Next person who brings anything up not concerning the game (this includes you CERU) Will be temp. banned by me.

Sweet Jesus, the stuff that happens here. Good lord.

I think the game looks good so far, I like the changes you made to the game, but to be honest, I liked the blue more. But red is always good too! I'm currently playing through the first game, and I like it so far.
And since commenting about the staff will get you banned, i'm going to keep my opinions for myself. But anyways, awesome job on the game!

I love you. So much. Lol.

I think the red is really cool. The police station will still be blue. Just ... less blue ... more greenish. It doesn't look good any other way. And although the situation was really stressful for me and aggravating for members of this board, I am glad they pointed out that there was too much blue, because otherwise I never would have had the idea for the red.

Wow, there are still downloads of it floating out on the internet? Well, I  guarantee this version will be much better!

Could you cry any more? Jesus fucking Christ. That wasn't even FLAMING the staff, just using sarcasm to point out that you're being dicks. That poster did nothing even close to warranting a warn.

I warned you not to bring up anything not concerning this game project, week ban.

JD

I'm not kidding when I say I'm going to be handing out bans. Since you've seen me state that directly and even posted as such. I'm adding a week to your ban. Regardless of whatever opinions everyone has on the matter, I mean it when I say Keep this topic about the game and not the argument that took place. I'm not giving my opinion on this matter because- you know what?- It DOESN'T matter. I'm going to do my job as a mod and ensure that we don't have dumbass flame wars like this. So sorry, Handsome Lamb, you pose some good points, but I gotta' do my job as a mod.

JD

Okay, this is locked for good now. Three moderators have now told you guys to drop the issue at hand.

I'm not going to try and get in the "last word" or any bullshit like that, but I just have to say that the debate in this topic unfortunately carries over from a couple of other threads, and a number of posts have been edited and/or deleted that change the content. To sum up it's over, and any member who brings the issue up again risks warning.

If any members have specific problems with me or another moderator, we're open to PMs. Although I don't think that it is necessary to explain ourselves considering the way in which the events have been skewed, I'd be willing to clarify things for anybody who is confused.

That said, CERU, I suggest that you wait a while and don't recreate your thread until your game is finished and ready for release. By then everybody should have forgotten about this.
