STORY

Upon visiting Black River, Alexis suddenly became captivated by the strange mystical allure of the northeastern city.
Somehow, she found herself deciding to stay there, as if the city was calling to her. She could not quite place,
in her mind, what the strange quality of the beautiful city was, but nonetheless,
there was just something about the city ... that was unlike anything she had ever seen.

Suddenly, after having moved in a couple months earlier, Alexis watched as the city seemed to be thrust in a state of silent chaos.
Businesses shut down, families packed their bags and went on "vacation," and people barely spoke. A neighbor tried to persuade
Alexis to leave, but would not tell her why.

"It was as if they were not only lying to me, but they were lying to themselves, ... pretending that nothing was wrong."

Night fell early, and Alexis was all alone.

FEATURES

  • Having the stun gun protects you against slow moving enemies, but if you run out of battery power you may find yourself out of luck ...
  • For when this does happen, certain temporary use items may be found, but depending on the item type it will break in 1-3 uses.
  • Restorative items may be found as well as extra batteries.
  • A unique puzzle system utilizes player input.
  • You can only run! The enemies threatening black river are deadly and too much for you to handle. Will you survive?
  • Unique graphics and original music help Crepusculum achieve it's unique atmosphere.

SCREENS

The only thing I can really go on and on about are your graphics. Everything else is fine though, but all those different graphic styles are killing the mood, or so to speak. You should get yourself a spriter (or sprite everything yourself) ;)

Anyway, now the good parts: I really like the plot, it makes me curious of what will happen. When looking at the screenshots, I can already see what that is, though. A small thing that's bothering is me that Alexis is just following her instincts on staying in the town. It could probably be better explained, adding some more story and make the game more believable (although zombies/whatever aren't realistic). The features seem nice too, it's nothing too special, but still enough to make one want to have a look at the game.

Looking forward to the game ;)

Is this a remake of your first Crepusculum game? Nice.

Its somewhere between a remake and a Director's Cut.

Tassadar: As for the graphics, I have carefully selected the graphics I use, and I am happy with the sprites that I have. So I don't think things are too mix-matched. Also, more realistic sprites would require larger backgrounds and it would be insane.

Oh, and for the story, the story that you are given is barely anything on purpose (I'm talking about above). I want to note that surviving Black River is not your only goal, but rather uncovering it's mystery for yourself as well. This is not a game that hands the storyline to you. I want to make you think. So although I do depict two cutscenes, they are cutscenes from the very beginning of the game and I assure you, you don't have it all figured out. XD

And as for the reason why Alexis is staying in town, well, it's not exactly her instincts but rather that she is dumbfounded by the silent panic that is sweeping the city and is almost in disbelief. I am not going to make some special reason why Alexis is staying that delves deep into the heart of the character, because she is truly just an ordinary person, although maybe you could say that she is a free spirit.

The darkness was never meant to increase difficulty, only atmosphere. It should never hinder your ability to see enemies or where you need to go, or the various objects you need to observe.

Which screen can you not see in?

I want to make the point that it is perfectly visible on both monitors in my house.

I edited my post, it was too long winded.

Will you change the puzzles any or a some new challenge in the game? I played the original and thought it was good. but it was also short. I think if you are going to make a remake you should seriously give it more content.

I'm sorry to say that I don't plan on adding any new areas on top of the areas already there. Crepusculum 2, however, seems like it is going to be much longer, and it shouldn't be released too long after Crepusculum: X!

As for Crepusculum: X, the police station has been completely redesigned, although a few puzzles are the same. There are also some new encounters and surprises, so don't miss it. Also, there is new music (the soundtrack is now ENTIRELY original, which means no RTP). I'm also going to be changing the way the final area looks, because the patterns don't repeat properly, and they're simply too gritty looking. Also, the cutscenes are going to be slightly different in some portions.

It's not really a remake, but its more than just a director's cut.

There are now three new music pieces for the beginning, the city streets, and the final area ???.

I'm working through technical issues here and there, but the majority of the text in the game has been overhauled. There are a few things different, like a change in an elevator or map effect.

I should release it sometime in the near future.

i would but damn broadband has become so slow for me that it gives up loading screens half way... I really did enjoy the first game and am looking forawd to playing this one!^-^

I just wanted to say that the project isn't dead, I'm just taking a break on both projects after literally working for months straight, using up most if not all of my free time on the project.

I post here the asame message I posted in thew wrong tread...

Hello from Italy!!! I'm playing this nice game, very creepy ^^

I'm stuck in Police Station, 3rd floor (even if I'm playing using the walktrough - maybe I found a bug?):
In the office I can't find the key for the Interrogatory room. I've noticed an item "out" of the room... maybe a bug and I can't get the key?

Can anyone help me?
