Code Geass end [maybe a spoiler or two but nothing serious]

was better than  death notes ending. Thats for sure

Kind of feel sorry for the guy.
So many great points,  Im going to miss this series... T_T

Oh.. my.. God... best... ending ever.. Code Geass is deffinatly my number 1 favorite anime now... that totally killed me. I literly cried for about 5 minutes... wow.

Strangely enough, people think Lelouch is alive. Why? Because C.C was talking to Lelouch and slightly looked up so that it seemed that she was talking to the driver/Lelouch in disguise. Sadly no one seems to realized that in anime, live characters talk to the dead all the time. I remember in dragon ball when everyone thought Goku was dead, every three second some one would just look up at the sky and say "Goku..."

I really hope he's not the driver. It would cheapen the whole point of him dying. Although nobody else seemed to stay dead (Cornelia, Guilford, Sayako - just what did them living add to the ending, except for that one bit right at the end?). Anyhow, C.C. of all people can be talking to a dead person, it's not like she's never done that before.

C.C. was talking to him becuase Lulu like Mariana was her dead contractor

So basically Lulu is some what of a living entity inside of C.C. subspace place...

Code geass, I loved it ):

finnally over... it was definetly one of the greatest series of all time.

It's intentionally ambiguous what happened to Lelouch.  Notice how when Nunnally touched his hand, she had a flashback of his memories?  That happened when people touched C.C. as well.  But then again, that could just be an artistic rendering of her ability to tell if people are lying.  But a very relevant loose end is what happened to V.V.'s Code.  After all, Lelouch did technically kill Charles...

Furthermore, I like to think that Lelouch lived because otherwise it'd leave C.C.'s story shamefully unresolved.  What a perfect ending for her it would be if she and Lelouch were to live forever together.  They would sacrifice their mortal lives in order to ensure that Geass is never spread to anyone again.  It's very ambiguous and there's something to be desired in each version (C.C.'s ending and the narrative purpose of the Codes vs the poetic justice of Lelouch's death).  Overall, I loved the ending.  It couldn't have ended any other way.

EDIT: I wouldn't say it was one of the greatest series of all time, not by a long shot.  Yeah, it was good and entertaining, but it wasn't amazing.

Well, I'm late to this party, but I gave the GEASS ending some time to sink in, and actually, I think at the end of the day it was pretty satisfying. Hell, good even. Though undoubtably somewhat like pretenting to be the second coming, with all the whole 'I'll shoulder the worlds hate and then get killed thing going on'.

And because I'm bored, I shall argue Ven's points. I agree that Geass is a comfort anime, though.

1.) it stars a high school kid who, for some stupid reason, has an adult mentality. this ties into #8

Mother shot dead and then getting exiled at like 12 won't do that to you, then?

2.) it takes place on earth but for some reason everyone has bright pink and purple hair and shit.

Thats just anime. The pallette excuse is usually: 'so you can differenciate the characters from one another'. Bullshit, probably.

3.) it has giant mechs the kids control with just like 2 switches/levers-- which ties into #8

Yeah, true, thats lazy. Then again, you only ~really~ need 4 levers (Accel, Brake, Clutch, Gearstick) and a wheel to control a car. All the lights and snazz are just fluff.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot, americans all drive automatics, don'tcha? So, actually, 2 levers and a wheel for you guys...not actually too far from that mecha...

And heck, flying a Jet Plane only involves so many buttons and levers because of the extreme conditions and speed of the transport involved. (Most of which is computerized these days in any case)

4.) most of the main character's main support team are also comprised of teens (there is a reason why armies don't allow you to enlist until you're 18 and that's because kids are fucking dumb!)

Huh? I can only really think of Kallen meeting that description. (and I guess Suzaku counts too) Rakshata, Toudou, Diethard, Ougi etc. are hardly teens. Also, don't they say a persons mental prowess actually peaks at 12 or something? Us oldies are only actually superior because of our experience and accumilated knowledge.

5.) the main character has a MAGICAL POWER FOR SOME FUCKING REASON (which ties into #8)

So? Again, its not real. Just because its set on alternate earth doesn't mean it has to follow the laws of physics too.

6.) all the typical anime archetypes are there! broody, serious boy. happy-go-lucky sweet girl. way-too-serious and "mysterious" chick. gung-ho empowered female. loyal patriot-type boy. Extremely effeminate antagonists. a couple of withdrawn nerds. the whole gang!

Yep, anime cliche at its finest. Again, whats the problem here?

7.) true to highschooler anime fashion, there is very bland, uninteresting romance that leads absolutely nowhere.

Probably because the fans would be in uproar more if he actually picked someone. I'll agree that is stupid, but thats the way it goes.

8.) it tries to be way too many things at once. a mech anime. a war anime. a highschool anime. a magic/arcane anime.

And actually doesn't do too bad, considering. True, there is a hideous amount of plotholes as a result.

9.) the main character in the dub is voiced by the fag who played Ichigo from Bleach

So watch the sub. Turn that fag off if you don't like him.

10.) it has the dumb emo shit going on with that half-assed "IM REALLY A PRINCE!!!!! LOL BUT IM SAD BECAUSE YOU KILLED DAD OR SOMETHING D: ALSO MY SISTER(?) IS BLIND OMG

Lelouches emo was surprisingly low, actually. Well, at least tolerable.

11.) the characters NEED TO EAT A CHEESEBURGER. why is everyone on the planet ANOREXIC???

CLAMP's art style is stupid tall. That is all.

12.) the main character is JAPANESE but his name is LELOUCH (hint: that's french and also japanese people can't pronounce L's)

As has already been pointed out, he's actually European. Britannian prince = not japanese.

so something with four prehensile limbs and a variety of complicated weaponry would only really ~need~ four levers?

he's right! I just can't get enough of my favourite anime characters. that's why I'm glad so many of them star Ichigo from Bleach in disguise! ^__^

Of course. Did you not play that XBOX game, Steel Battalion, which came with the entire mecha control panel as its gimmick? Two control sticks, an acceleration yoke, and three pedals (accel, brake, jump-jets). Then it just had an imposing amount of buttons for using your alarm, ejector seats, radio, stereo, windscreen wipers, chaff, weapon switch and such like. The main controls were indeed just those five things though.

FFFFUUUUCCCKKKK WHO CARES???
If I watch a cartoon or an anime with mechs I don't give A SHIT about how those fuckers control them.
I wanna see action XD

Nah, I was just makin' the point that its not ~totally~ out there to be able control a mecha with two levers :D

Anyway, this is totally off-topic, ain't it?
Other good thing about Geass ending: Orange-kun (Jeremiah) bags himself an Orange farm AND a Loli (Anya) from the deal. SCORE!

I liked this Geass's first season.

The second season was good halfway through, but...

Once the Black Knights betrayed Lelouch it all went to hell. NORMALLY people would be "LOL magic right whatever" in an age of giant robots, but they all believed Schneizel without much of a hitch.

After that things went TOO metaphysical for my liking, Lelouch geass'd GOD, and bridges were dropping on characters left and right... only to have them miraculously survive somehow and return in the following episodes without much of an explanation (how did Cornelia survive being swissed by Schneizel's snap-on machine guns? How the hell did Schneizel even HAVE those things installed?)

Then I /ragequit and began kicking puppies. They said they scrapped the original story because they couldn't get their ideal time slot; now I can only wonder what could have been.

Uh, did they ever reveal C.C's real name?
