Code Geass end [maybe a spoiler or two but nothing serious]

Spoiler: Actually...

Lelouch is British (possibly a bit French; the whole point of the backstory is Britain is the big bad world conqueror, so considering that and the fact that he was only third in line to the throne, him being part French isn't a stretch), but he was sent to Japan as a sort of "lol we won't conquer you" gift after his mother was killed and his sister went blind.  This was just to get them the hell out of the Emperor's way, and put him in the line of fire when they finally decided "lol just kidding *boom*".

I actually LIKED the series at one point, mostly because I do like mecha anime and can manage to ignore the typically young demographic of characters (even though it's been starting to irk me in some instances).  By the end of it, I was actually ROOTING for the protagonist (or rather, anti-hero) to be killed, because a tragic ending would have been perfect for the series.  And I THOUGHT I got said tragic ending... until I read the synopsis for Code Geass R2 and felt cheated. >:|

It really wasn't so bad. Alot if the stuff venetia dislikes goes away later on.
(such as the school setting)

I think by episode 17 of r2  there are like 20 plot twist per episode.

mind you, everything is explained and even is its a illusion, it feels like there is a shit load of depth in the story. I personally like r2 more than the first season.

That's the thing, the Japanese don't want to be Japanese, but are so xenophobic that they wouldn't want to be from any other country anyway. This results in taking another country's culture and making it Japanese.

I never watched Code Geass because I saw the first few minutes of the show, saw "oh noes, America and Britain and taking over poor old backwater shit Japan ;_;" and went "Fuck this Jap Crap" then turned to Dethklok. Personally, I don't hate anime, but it's incessant fucking fans that piss me (and most people) off.

Well, most voice actors train themselves to do so, at least in recent anime (2000+; Death Note being the only exception, though I can't help but wonder if they did that on purpose).  Watch older anime, like Venus Wars and such; it's much more noticeable in them.
