Is this similar to the "Tales" series? If not, you may want to consider removing the "Tales" from the beginning. I know that you said that you're probably changing the title anyway, but this suggestion is for just in case you're going to use "Tales" in the title.

**EDIT**
Initial Impressions: I LOVE the battle plains and the visual cues. They add a lot to the game play. I also like the fact that the save points disappear when you use them. It makes you have to use them more carefully. I have a question about your save points, though. When you load a game the save point is still on screen. I thought that it would be gone permanently once you used it. Is it supposed to be there when you load a game?

I have a suggestion about your skills on the battle plains. I know you can check the title on the crystal but there is no explanation of the skill. The first skills are pretty self-explanatory. However, there are bound to be skills with special names in which the effect is not apparent. What do you think about adding a short description? I played this one game once in which you were able to learn a set of skills by selecting them. There were no descriptions so I chose some randomly and I didn't see their effect until I was in battle. Long story short, I closed the game and loaded it from my last save to reselect my skills.

Overall, your game was pretty enjoyable.

Nice looking game, the darker feel is easier on the eyes. Btw your lighting effects script is making a grid pattern, It might be a passability/priorities problem.

@ alexia. No. The "Tales" of name will be changed. This is loosly based on the world of my other games. The Under series.

@ Axerax. The grid pattern is because I took the screenshot right at the point a battle was about to start. Silly me.

@ angelicgemini. Battlers take time to make/edit. I have not come up with anything I like so it's a placeholder.

Wow. Thank you all for the response(s). I hope the demo proves enjoyable. Remember to save a few different save games if you wish to explore the different area's within the demo.

So this is a sequel? Or prequel? Considering how much I like Under you have a lot of expectations to fill. The battle system looks almost the same as under except I see no attack decision? Why?

This is great! Short but i understand it's just to get ideas on gameplay.
Question? I see a cave in the screenshot but I never went into a cave? Is that from a point in the game that is not in the demo?

@ Plasma. I see what kind of man you really are. What I mean is you chose to not help Miniex when he was getting beat up. That changed the story and area's. If you want to see the cave then go choose to help him. And no, this will not affect the final chapter of Under. And this is not a prequel or sequel of Under. It just takes place in the same world with the same world mechanics. What you learn in Under will factor heavily into the story though.

@ J street. I'm thinking about it.

@ Alexia. Thanks for the comments. I agree with pretty much everything and will add a description to the Skills.

Ah yes. The cave is more difficult then the dungeon. Very cool the branching story. If the entire game is like this the replay value will be really high. How much will the branches effect the overall story though?

Wow, I posted on Phanx but I just have to post again. Your Battle Plains idea is genius. It made me rethink how my system is in my game. Good work and can't wait till the last chapter of Under is out.

This one may top your Under game, and I really like that game. Will there be another longert demo out before you finish the game? Or is this it.

I have completely updated the topic to show the new demo and new link. This will be my last demo before games completion. The demo is 1.5 - 2 hours long, as opposed to the old 15 minute teaser.

I would love to hear everyones thoughts on this and please report any bugs that are found.

This is another great game Man. However it's going to be a tough one to make considering the story deviations you have planned to make. Good luck with this, what you have here in the demo is suprisingly well done.

J Street. Ya, sort of. The game starts off a little into the story, then goes back to tell how James ended up in jail. The entire Jail area is more less meant to be a giant tutorial on how to play the game. So it's pretty easy. Just a hint though. When your given the option to save Miniex, if you do and go into the caves, they are harder then if you don't save him and continue through the jail. Hope you enjoy it, I'd love to hear an opinion fom you.

I posted the download link for the real demo. It can take 1.5-2 hours one way, or the same amount of time if you play it different.

Feedback would be great.

It might just be me, but does the screen-shot of the batters bother anyone?
The lancers should really go behind the swordsmen because they have this perspective thing with their hands. Right now theres this optical illusion with the swordsmens' hands being bigger then the lancers heads.
Am I the only person seeing this?
