Best Video Game Ending?

Ohhh, well if we're including the 2d era endings which rock by merit of being so ****ing difficult to see, then the NES games Disney Adventures and Skate or Die had great endings to me.

I'm going to jump onto the FF9 ending. Everything about that ending was just awesome. Then again, I saw the last boss coming. Seriously. He was the antithesis to the theme of the story.

I liked FFX's ending as well, but not as much.

Xenosaga 3? That had a GOOD ending? I guess I missed that part. All I could think of was how they betrayed me by not making Xenogears tie ins and teasing at the possibility of some incredible sequels when we we know they aren't likely to happen. (COME ON NAMCO!!! MAKE MORE!)

Trying to think about this just makes me realize how many games I've ALMOST beaten.

I remember all the games in the Soul Blazer series having good endings. (Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, and Terranigma.) Although I can't remember them very well.

I remember Illusion of Gaia's ending, and it was, well, unexpected. Never mind those were all incredible games, and I would love to see a new game in the series for PS3 or something.

Well I'd go in this order and for these reasons:

Obivously don't open the tags if you don't want to read the spoilers.

5. Final Fantasy IX

I thought Zidane was dead, I was wrong. Without trying to reveal too much about my own game, the ending to that is about 20% similar and inspiration for me. I liked the sort of things everyone said about Zidane. Good Ending.

4. Final Fantasy X

I thought the ending was really sad and emotional and first for the Final Fantasy series, it was really good and well made. This would definitally be at number one had it not been for Final Fantasy X-2 in which I felt that game ruined the ending of FFX and made Tidus' sacrifice seem completely pointless.

3. Dirge of Ceberus: Final Fantasy VII

Whilst I felt the game could have been made x10 better had they just made it longer by a few hours and making it seem more like a lengthy story than a quick, bam, bam boom! I felt the ending was great. All three of the endings, first off when Vincent destroys Omega as Chaos in a massive collision. Then suddenly you see the floating purple orbs like Vincent has been killed. Then of course as it turns out, the scenes where he's talking to Lucrecia in the crystal are in the ending as part two of the ending where he sees Shelke outside the cavern. Then finally if you got all the G Reports... "We still have much work to do... Brother..." from the Sephiroth look-alike, Genesis.

2. Kingdom Hearts

The ending to KH2 was good, but the ending to the original was better, mostly because it was incomplete. It reminded me alot of FFX's ending but KH2 didn't ruin the ending of the original game. I just found it really sad when Sora never made it home and it openned the door for the seuqle in the way that FFX's ending did not and should not have!! Dammit FFX-2 should never have been! KH2 was actually logical though.

1. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

It's twisted, it's sad, it explains a lot it has Big Boss being given the title of Big Boss and the Saving Private Ryan salute at the end has become more famous for the game than it was in the Oscar winning movie. I also liked the twist about Eva in the end too. Plus it was nice to know Snake finally got some, he kinda looked like he needed it too.

Metal Gear Solid. The awesome chase scene, atmosphere-wise the best final boss ever and the emotional scenes just make this the best one.

They're not related. I dont know how many times this has to be typed. Regaurdless of initial intentions, for copyright reasons they couldnt be related ergo by the third movement they made no effort to. That doesnt make it a bad ending, it just makes you a bad listener. And everything concluded, many good films end like this and would in fact be better off without more sequals(see Matrix 1 for a good example). Ambiguity is a lost art in storytelling. If you got every answer, you'd have nothing to speculate. And its not their fault nobody purchased the games(though it kinda is, NAMCO publishers and TEAM XENOSAGA 2 arg). They had more to say, but the public was done listening. All things considered, great ending.

I've have to say Persona for the PS1

Now that was a good ending.

Though.

You can easily get the bad ending. if you don't answer certain questions correctly in one event of the game.

Oh god, I just remembered the Silent Hill 3 Alien Ending....

"My poor baby. Well, we're gonna take a trip to Silent Hill, and bust some heads!"
"Oh dad, your the coolest!"
Cue UFOs firing lasers at Silent Hill. Priceless.

Oh goodness... this is a hard one @_@

But, I'd have to give the metal to Metal Gear Solid 3 (sorry, bad pun). That ending... just... wow. Metal Gear Solid also had a great ending. But 3 just blew me away.

I liked FFX's because it was different. Most FFs, dont really have that great of endings sadly.

Final Fantasy VIII. I felt it concluded everything it needed to and tied all loose ends unlike FF7(although now sequals are coming out like the movie...) but it was solid and I felt emotional towards it and it didn't leave me wondering about much else. It was very done. Which is something that's hard to do in a lot of games/stories.

I also really like FFX's ending as well. There was some real emotion to that and yes I cried like a little girl. ^_^ And I do agree... FFX-2 compleatly unessisary... everything was wrapped up even though I felt like I wanted to change things it still was concluded. The sequal takes the power out of the first's ending.

golden sun, game aint that great, i mean its cool n its BADASS considerin its 4 gba, but the ending is awesome, specially if u followed both games
