Back in the Day...

Was going by Valentine Enigma back then.

Good lord. I remember you!

And I agree with you about Gaming Ground Zero - but the stuff they produced was excellent. I mostly stuck around to leech off their Final Fantasy spriting project; they were the only people around who were creating perfect rm2k replicas of the Playstation generation minor characters. With poses.

the french community was pretty big around RM2k3 and its predecessor. they had guigui and that other guy, whose name starts with a Y (Yazoo? Yawoo? idk). They had a pretty big and inventive community, as far as I can recall.

All I can remember is that every French game that appeared in Western communities was beautifully produced, yet incomprehensibly translated!

Can anyone else remember when the idea of a scripted ABS was an absurdity? Something which could never been done, and certainly wouldn't be freely available for use when those who had cracked The Secret had done so?

... I'm struggling to decide which of the ten or twelve available at the moment I should use.

ABS's used to be cool and flashy because they were different. Now that they're actually out there and in games I realised how gay and impossible to do well ABS systems are; I've yet to play a game with a good ABS system in it and never found them challenging or remotely thought-proviking.

/me presses A a few times

I've been here since Sep. 2006.

I remember a few things, firstly how noobish I was, a few dropped projects, and how easy it was to get warnings around here. I swear, I had to reread every post like 3 times to ensure I wasn't violating any rules!

Euph was my first warn, but I think Tana and Venitia have gotten me too. I've learned though :)

yeah uh that sort of thing got abolished shortly after everyone realized pretty much no one including the staff had paid for their copies

it changed to a "if you're going to pirate the software at least use a version that isn't shit" clause

Oh? So we're allowed to talk about this sort of thing now?

Holy shoot! Being back here after a hiatus of two years makes me realise of how much things can change when you're absent.
When I last came on these forums they were still named rmxp.org and well, the admin. was getting shaky again.

Here's my little story:

Joined in Spring 05 on .net and lurked for a while
Became active a few months after that and switched on .org quite a while before .net was closed
Made myself quite known around here then changed my username to Selwyn in late summer 06 (my former one was Squall)
Joined the ORA but left (after a fashion) in late 07

And now I'm here and everything feels so unfamiliar. I expect all the people I knew left;
JStreet, Lene, Bluescope, Mewsterus, Me, Mr.Mo, arev, Trickster, Seph, Tana, Prexus, Yeyinde, Treg, Roman Candle, ...
Well I could name a dozen more but whatever...

And what did happen to this place? Who are the admins? Why the change of aim? name?

Squall! :O It's been a while man

Most of the folks you speak of fell out with the site over something or another and ended up being in Spongen

The admins are............ Arbiter, Sophist, Wyatt, Brewmeister, Shadow, Treg

All have been around since at least 2007, just under different names or whatnot. Treg is still around occassionally but he doesn't frequent or anything.

The name / aim, just wanted a change. Plus RM* is pretty much dying; Enterbrain have seemingly stopped making them even.

Oh you actually are Wyatt. I didn't realise immediately...

Well it's not a bad thing this place took another direction, I partially left because my projects were not made on (any) rpgmaker anymore but rather on my own game engine.

that's cool. we've been trying to branch out of Enterbrain products lately anyway. it's not like we could offer much support for an engine you've coded yourself (gj on that, by the way,) but there is an audience here if you ever feel like making a topic, and some dudes here are really good at spriting and such.

Oh? So we're allowed to talk about this sort of thing now?
as far as I know, you've been allowed to talk about them since TREG bought the site from ccoaErk. I never really got the ban on so much as mentioning the existence of cracks and such; I'm sure there's a point at which it's probably unwise to blab, but there's also a point running in the opposite direction where you're just compulsively covering your ass at every turn.
