[Ask] Guardianism

Status
Not open for further replies.
As some of you know, I have created my own set of ideas and beliefs.  It was brought up one day on Gaming World in my introduction thread, and also here in the same day.  I was completely unprepared for the mass of negative criticism I was getting and was caught off-guard.  This time, I've gone through the site and fixed many errors that were brought up from the topics.  This thread is for the discussion/bashing of Guardianism in an attempt to answer any questions that weren't answered in the previous thread.  All I ask is that you be polite and respectful when posting.  I don't mind negative criticism as long as its constructive in some way.

Guardians United: The Official Site of Guardianism

I can't actually call it a religion.  There aren't any official practices and, as of now, it is not recognized by the government as an official religion.  If you read the Sources page, you would have found this:

Magic

Whenever someone says "magic," everyone thinks of either magic tricks or magic found in fantasy stories and games.  I've looked up magic on the Merriam-Webster site, and this is what I've found:
1 a: the use of means (as charms or spells) believed to have supernatural power over natural forces
b: magic rites or incantations
2 a: an extraordinary power or influence seemingly from a supernatural source b: something that seems to cast a spell
3: the art of producing illusions by sleight of hand

Both 1a and 2 are the definitions I'm dealing with when I say "magic."  I do not believe that incantations affect magic, so I omitted 1b, and 3 is talking about magic tricks.

Magic is found in almost all religions, even if it is not called magic.  It is referred to as blessings, divine intervention, etc., but it is all essentially the same.  It shouldn't be less believable simply because of the term I use.  I can think of many examples from other religions where I would call what someone did magic, but I will not name any of these because I do not know the exact details of other religions.

I believe that answers your questions in general.  If you want a further explanation of something, I have no problem providing it.

"Blessings" and "divine intervention" are not thematically the same as magic. In the case of blessings and divine intervention, God comes in to do your dirty work or gives you a little extra mojo, and humans have no control over whether he does it or not. A priest can bless someone, but it's not like God sits up and thinks "oh man I better make good on this."

One of my qualms with modern-day Christianity is how its officials often treat God as a force they have the utmost control over, but this is neither the time nor the place. 'kay, maybe it's the time, but~

Magic is generally looked upon as forbidden in large religions (not necessarily because it works, but because of the mindset it breeds -- "I can control this and that what's god got on me?") and practicing magic or trying to coerce whatever forces are out there to do your work are the sorts of things that will get you some industrial-grade shunning. I implore you to do your research before you draw connections between everything to validate your claims -- everything here seems built on the shaky foundation of opinion and wishful thinking and nothing else.

I have a few questions I'd like answering:

1. Do you really believe this shit? If so, have you considered therapy?
2. What the fuck?
3. Why the fuck?
4. How the fuck?
5. Why is this in GD?

That last one might be pretty important, actually. Do you think this thread would be better suited to the Symposium or something like that?

How many RPG games have you played before you created this religion?
I have no idea.  Probably around 20, although they have no influence on Guardianism.

Are you on any type of medication that alters the way your brain chemicals work?
Yes.  They would be considered illegal substances.  If you're asking if I'm on them, then the answer is no.

Is this religion ultimately going to result in you collecting donation funds via door to door travelling?
No.  I will never collect donations or ask for money.

I was referring to things that were done by people, not God, such as (and I may be wrong - this is what I remember) when Moses splits the sea to allow the passage of him and his followers.  I was trying to find a way to phrase this, but I will ultimately need to do more research before I can do so.

1. Yes, I believe it.
5. This is in the GD because I thought it the best place for it.  It can be moved if it should be placed somewhere else.

Yeah, because Moses split the sea on his own without divine intervention.

I thought the story was that God gave him a bunch of miracles?

Moved to NFG, since it's such a joke.
That's not nice, but it was where I would have posted it had I not been an exile.  Thanks.

Again, I have some research to do on the matter.  I haven't actually read the story in a while.

It is and magic in guardianism doesn't seem that much different since it comes from the force of tripart god.  Perhaps mastery of it is what brings you closer to the way of the force.  Alex and I have done a lot of research since our last chat, guardian.  I have some new questions and things to share, but will do so later.  I'm real busy now.

I look forward to your questions.  I enjoy discussing it better than trying to convince people I'm not insane.  I have to go for a while, but I'll be back on later today.

I have also done some studying on magic, and I have since derived my own philosophy from this which proves christianity to be true, I'm not sure whether this conflicts with The Great Terror's study, which I personally believe to be a joke. I don't want to bring that into this thread, because essentially we've discussed this many times since, and would derail this topic. I would like to present this study to you, if my own collection permits itself to be summarised.

How would one go about converting to a Guardian? Would I need to cast aside my mainstream religion?

If I become a Guardian can I eat fish on Friday?

Is magic really real? I mean really real? Because my science teacher is a logical douche and says no.

If I join this religion can I cast aside all that I currently know and become a blank ready to be molded into something greater?

Can you guys come up with an acronym for your religion? Guardianism is kind of uncool.

Can I nail a letter of petition to the door of my local church?

Are we assigned Nike jumpsuits? If so I am 5'11'' on the slim side.
