Deep question for you.

A toy train is heading north at 50 miles per hour. The wind is blowing from the west at 30 miles per hour. If the train makes a left, which direction will the smoke blow?

The smoke will make a parabola basically. It will begin to go east, ever so slightly. However, then the wind will take over and make it go west.

Toy trains don't have smoke. (Or at least they shouldn't.)

=D

I set one on fire. Put a co2 cartridge in it.

It does go east for a bit. Simulated with a fan.

So why the suicide capital of America?

And did you realize Seattle does not have a rock station or at least one that can be picked up in Portland?

Are you aware of the population of treehugging hippies in this region of the country?

So why an english major and not the military?

And finally does your stepping down a rank actually change anything at all about your influence or ability to get things done as if you were still an administrator?  Or did taking a couple steps back give you enough room to clear the hurdle into Management?  Like the stamp commercial, you look good in red.

What is your stance on the current political turmoil between Kanto and Johto over Johto's desire to branch off from Indigo League? Do you think it could lead to war?

I'm 100% in support of Johto in this one. Hoenn, Sinnoh, and other regions all have their own Leagues, yet because of its proximity to Kanto, Johto hasn't been able to operate under its own rules. It downplays the importance and validity of the Johto League, and there is nothing wrong with them wanting to be in control of their own show.

I used to think that war would never come of this, but after the recent happenings with the incident, it's hard to deny just how deeply-rooted in the government the Pokémon Leagues are. I think war is a possibility, but I hope it won't happen. A war of this magnitude in the modern would could have devastating consequences, especially when you consider that pocket monsters today are considerably more powerful than they were even ten years ago, with the advent of numerous items and machines that boost their abilities. Not to mention the rumors of recent genetic research that has gone into making incredibly powerful and violent monsters.

It's a possibility yes, but one that I certainly hope will never come to fruition.

Who would you vote for; Cameron, Clegg or Brown?

No fucking idea what this is. I assume its British, in which case it doesn't matter to me anyway.

Are you VigilanetPunishment?

Yes and no. Not originally, although recently I have been using the account to make fun of the original VigilantePunishment.

Er... did you make me "Commander Wyatt"?

Yes, but I made it based on a post made by TREG.

What's your favorite toothpaste Mr. Despain?

Whatever's on sale.

Where do babby's come from?

Uterii.

Don't give a shit. This topic isn't here for me to do my homework for you.

Hot or not?

America Ferrara's actually pretty good-looking. They do a good job making her look "ugly" and cute at the same time. Plus her name is really beautiful. I've never really watched the show though.

What your family life like Despain? Mom, Dad, Siblings? Specifics?

I have a mom and a stepdad, and a baby half-brother who is about two years old. They live "with" me, at least in the house that I call home when I'm not on-campus, during the summer and stuff.

I have a younger full brother named Zak, who moved out of the house when he was 16. He's either 18 or 19 now (I think 18), and lives with a friend (he's drifted between friends' houses for a few years), and is in the process of finding a good job and a place of his own. He and I are totally different people, but eve since he moved out we've actually become closer. It's possible he might be sharing an apartment with me and Teloch.

My father lives in Florida, with a wife and three other boys, all of whom are young. The oldest is 8 or 9, I think.

You could say I'm the oldest of six brothers, although we're not all from the same parents.

Blissey - Evil Damage-Soaking Wall or Minor Inconvineince?

Depends on who she's up against. She goes down fast against a hard physical fighter.

Also, how did you become anything above a member, anyway?

Because I'm good at what I do (i've had moderator/administrator experience for years), and I have the right connections. I also care about this community more than any of you could imagine.

What's your favorite DS pokemon game and GBA pokemon game (BY GBA not the fucing first generation)?

I don't count the games that aren't core RPGs, so there's only been one released for the DS. For the GBA, there'd be two choices, but you said I can't choose FireRed and LeafGreen, so I only have one to choose from. I'd choose Hoenn over them anyway, if only because I really like Emerald, and Kanto was the best on the original Game Boy.

So why the suicide capital of America?

Assuming you mean Seattle. It's because it's on the direct opposite coast of Connecticut, and would be a total change completely. One of the main reasons that we're going is to just drop everything and leave our lives behind and start something new. The cross-country location adds to that experience.

And did you realize Seattle does not have a rock station or at least one that can be picked up in Portland?

Don't care? I listen to noise, and radio is crap anyway. I listen to music on my computer or would make my own CDs.

Are you aware of the population of treehugging hippies in this region of the country?

There are a lot, but it's why we're choosing Seattle rather than California. They'll be around, but not as plentiful there.

So why an english major

I think I already answered this, but I'm too lazy to go back and check. I'm an english major because I originally wanted to teach English, but I've since changed my mind about teaching and am more or less stuck with straight english.

and not the military?

The military was never an option for me. It's not the kind of lifestyle that I want to live at all, and I don't want to go through the torture of the boot camps and training.

And finally does your stepping down a rank actually change anything at all about your influence or ability to get things done as if you were still an administrator?

No.

I noticed a comment about Shadowmoor in your sig, so... what is your favorite tribe in Lorwyn so far?

If you'd followed the link, you'd have noticed that I hate Lorwyn and didn't follow it. But I'd have to say Merrow because I'm an avid blue player, and I've always liked merfolk. I had a merfolk deck back in the day, and I was glad that they brought back that creature type (even if they did fuck everything up with Lorwyn).

I've noticed that people are fairly polarized about Lorwyn... I'm curious what you dislike about it.  I found the power level to be ridiculously high, but I also enjoyed playing tribes.  This is only my second non-core set (RGD being my first), so I don't really have that much to compare it to.

You missed out on the best days of magic. I'll actually paste this, since I've explained it in my blog post.

Mirrodin really killed the love I had for the game. Onslaught had started the trend, but it wasn’t too bad. Mirrodin was overkill. It had a theme that was all-too-obvious and forced you to create decks based around it. Deckbuilding is my favorite aspect of the game, and the metal plane set didn’t allow you any freedom if you didn’t want to use artifacts.

Lorwyn now is the same thing. You are pretty much forced to play tribal. The previous tribal block, Onslaught, had the creature type theme very prominently, but you were still able to create decks that weren't based entirely on the tribes. Lorwyn really forces you to play Merrow, or play Kithkin, or whatever, and there's not much opportunity for much else. This is really evident in the change in the way that drafts were played, and a lot of people have talked about how you draft tribes rather than drafting colors.

These kinds of sets take a way a lot of the cool creativity in Magic, and rather than finding cool interactions on your own, you pretty much just do what they tell you to.

Ah, I see.  I've heard that complaint before, and it makes sense.  I think the reason I enjoyed Lorwyn was because it was a learning experience for me; the combos were pretty straightforward, so it helped me get more of a sense for that sort of thing.  But I mainly draft, so I don't feel the stunted creativity as much as others would.  I took it as a challenge to try to find random combos that I hadn't seen played before... I really like the Mirror Entity, Ceaseless Searblades, Brion Stoutarm combo... I always look forward to people's reactions if I can manage to pull it off :)

It's interesting to see that you're really into Pokemon.  When I was first starting college, my roommate and I watched the TV show and played the games and everything.  We were like the only non-small-children in the theater (except for the parents of the small children) when we went to see the movie, haha... But that was a while ago, so now all the kids who were into Pokemon at the time are in college now, hehe.  I always thought it was cool that Pokemon was like the universal kids' language at the time... you could be anywhere, and just ask any old kid about it, and they'd know exactly what you were talking about.

Hate to break it to ya babe, but Seattle trumps all of California in hippie population, excluding perhaps San Francisco. I lived all over Cali and have several friends in Seattle. They're such hippies, they had a mini riot where they destroyed a bunch of the SUV's at a dealership because they were detrimental to the environment. They're also the ones you see chaining themselves to trees and joining the militant GreenPeace and shit. It got a little better as Grunge rock was dying down in the late 90's but ever since the conferences on the environment they're all straddling Al Gore's nuts.

:<

But I hear it's beautiful just outside the city, and depite the cold temperatures, I wouldn't mind living near it myself. When I visited my friend there it was just gorgeous.

Well in all honesty tree-hugging hippies are infinitely more preferable to wannabe tree-hugging hippies who are into herbal remedies and getting in touch with their earth spirits while they rush to the studio to work on the next big hollywood blockbuster.

So you prefer the poor hippies over San Franciscan Limousine hippie progressives.  Got it.  I prefer neither.  Venetia is right, though.  Plenty of Strangeloves in Seattle.  Go to Capitol hill to catch a glimpse of what we mean.  You do realize that city was the scene of those ridiculous WTO riots of the nineties.

As far as the radio's concerned it depends what kind of rock you are looking for.  They got some pop and alternative stations, but nothing like the Northeast as far as serving the smaller niches is concerned.  Also Portland is quite a bit of distance.  And considering the mountains and such it wouldn't surprise if many of the transmitters in and around Seattle don't reach you.

Atleast the latter look good, contribute to society, and don't smell :D

Venetia and Sophist are right... The only place in CA you're going to find those kinds of hippies is the SF/Berkeley area.  And mixed in with the real hippies are what I like to call the "yuppie-hippies"... kids who were gifted Lexus SUVs when they were 16 years old, and live off their parents' wealth until they're 30, but join all the activist "I had a hard life" groups so they can put it on their resume and make themselves look more "open-minded."

Seattle is nice though... you'll still find hippies and herbal supplements, but they're a lot nicer and less selfish overall for some reason (especially on the road!).
