This is the basic storyline of the world of Incendi, which is referred to as "The Known World" (i.e. the boundaries of human exploration).
'Tis in timeline form.
If it is cliche'ed then good, that's what I'm aiming for.
Notes:
BD: Before Deities
AX: After Exodus
?BD
Creation
The world is created somehow, or by somebody. Many have contemplated the exact origin of our species', and the world of Incendi, but who knows.
28 BD
Aranisia is founded
Farmers from near the Elmstream group together under the leadership of a man whom comes to be known as Lord Elmsfield. He names the settlement after his son, Aran.
A girl is born, named Kendra; no special origin - just a normal peasant girl.
14 BD
Kendra gains followers
Kendra, now 16, feels that the leadership of someone who was once the same social status as everyone else is wrong and corrupt, and starts preaching to the other farmers about her ideas. Along with several others, she begins a plot to kill Lord Elmsfield. She nearly succeeds, but the Lord's most faithful guard kills Kendra's mother in order to stop Kendra taking any more action.
12 BD
Kendra kills Elmsfield.
Kendra finally manages to kill Elmsfield, with slingshot and pebble, from a tree on the Lord's daily route to see the peasant farmers work.
Kendra declares herself as a God, and takes control over the settlement of Aranisia. Peasants are made to worship Kendra with gifts of food and salt.
11 BD
Kendra becomes Goddess.
By means of belief, Kendra is created into an actual God and ascends into a seperate plane of existance. She is given certain abilities, mainly control over weather, though she has to have belief and worship for these powers to work.
10 BD
Uprising.
Zen and Kiras, two of Kendra's personal guard, turn sides and begin a civil war against the followers of Kendra. A battle ensues, and Zen and Kiras ultimately win and ascend into the God Realm. It is discovered that God cannot kill God; the only way a God can be defeated is lack of belief. Temples are set up in Aranisia as a means of worship for all three Gods.
8 BD - 0 AX
The 1st God War
Zen, Kiras, and Kendra begin a war against all non-believers. Though neither are allied, they all wish to remain God status. The world is ravished, and Aranisia is wiped off the face of Incendi. Humanity remains alive, as more settlements have branched out from Aranisia, though these lack leadership and thus a power vacuum is created. Civil wars strike out every other year. Thus angers the Gods as people divert their attention away from the Gods themselves. The Gods leave the Known Worlds to reside fully in the God Realm. By means of paradox they are able to remain by use of their God powers, forgotten by the war raging lesser humans.
10 AX
Aramar is founded
The power vacuum ends with Lord Aramar taking the throne, renaming the largest of the human settlements after himself. Humanity begins to branch out into the Unknown Worlds.
15 AX
Humans settle in Nian
Humans set foot in the Southern province of Nian, in search of treasures. Still under the control of Aramar, they build a fortress known as Castle Vert where they operate from, and claim the forest that surrounds it for Humanity.
20 AX - 21 AX
1st Ara-Nian war
Nians fight for self control against Aramar. They are put down by Aramarian soldiers.
23 AX
2nd Ara-Nian war
Nian regroups under leadership of Lord Vassel and wages a second war against Aramar, and wins. Nian is declared a seperate nation, under the Guardianship of the Green Forest.
24 AX
Magic is created
A street magician in Aramar unknowingly creates Magic, through the power of belief. Early magic is crude, but efficient.
Many are trained in the art of Magic, becoming Mages.
25 AX - 30 AX
1st Mage War
Lord Aramar fights against the new Mages, and witch trials begin. Many thousands of Mages are killed but Magic lives on.
31 AX
The Gods intervene
Zen, Kiras, and Kendra intervene, stopping the Mage War. They see that if all Mages are wiped out, then there will be no belief in magic. This is not an act of kindness - the Gods enjoy watching the lesser humans fight amongst themselves and magic makes it interesting.
153 AX
Aramarian Civil War
Lord Jarin fights against Lord Aramar in a civil war. Aramar splits in two. Lord Aramar keeps Western and Central Aramar. Lord Jarin gains Eastern Aramar, which he insultingly names after Aramar as Aramidia. War breaks out between the now weak and old Lord Aramar, and the Avalonian Cult (Mages). Aramar is allowed to live, but imprisoned, where he dies within a year of old age. Avalon is proclaimed a nation, spanning Western and Central Aramar.
160 AX - 162 AX
Coalition War
Aramidia and Nian (who have along the way become known by the Guardianship's name, "Green Forest") fight against Avalon in a bid to capture the province of Central Aramar (Goldea). Neither win, as the Central Aramar Council steps in, declaring Goldea a seperate free nation.
392 AX
Lord Jarin is killed by unknown people.
396 AX
Witch hunts begin
The Avalonian Cult are revealed to be behind Jarin's death, and witch hunts begin. Mages are herded up and placed in the province of Utha, East of Aramidia. Thousands of Mages are killed but belief creates the art of Necromancy - the thousands killed are respawned as undead, under the control of the Mages.
2nd Mage War begins.
427 AX
2nd Mage War ends
The land of Uthan is practically destroyed and the Gods intervene once more. Magic is once again trusted... for now.
550 AX
Humanity settles in the Southern Deserts, though find humans have already settled in this part of the world, along the way. No wars, though new settlers and old settlers are mistrusting and "not friends".
572 AX
Present day
Humanity begins to venture into the Jungles and Icelands, where Orks are discovered
So we now have several nations:
Avalon - Mage controlled, isolationist, dictatorship (conservative) [Western World]
Aramidia - control of Lord Jarin (hereditary title), dictatorship (but somewhat liberal if that makes sense) [Central World]
Goldea - self controlled, partial democracy (leader voted from limited group of elders) [Between Avalon and Aramidia]
Green Forest - control of Lord Vert, allied with Aramidia, same policies [Southern World]
Uthan - no control, no settlements [Eastern World]
Southern Desert - technical control of Prince Vabi, monarchy [South-Eastern World]
Ice Lands - Aramidian fortress (Citadel of Ice) [North-Eastern World]
Ork Lands - Unknown [Northern World]
Amuun Jungle - No settlements [South-Western World]
