Probably something like Half Kaizers. I was going to use them anyway, when I started Vengeance, except nobody was making them so there weren't many materials around. But now that the HKCP is here, that's changing.

Hopefully, yes.

It wont be a very big game, it will probably be like I said a 100x100 map (but detailed with lots in) with lots of side maps such as interiors, caves, etc; the enemies found in the Beta game; and all the quests from the Beta but remade / modified for the new game.

It should be playable at least to some extent.

Then after that I can start releasing say, a quest a week, or something like that.

I tell you what, I'll buy a private subforum and pick maybe 10 people, to be the "playtesters" of Vengeance, who decide everything that goes on, what needs changing, what's going wrong, etc. Everyone can play, but these 10 will have the biggest say in matters.

Plus it'll give me an excuse to give .org more money. :)

I'm gonna stick Windows 98 on the server, for now, instead of Linux. (Well, on a dual boot I guess). That way I can run the old server while I try and fix the new server. (It's a problem with my firewall, I'm pretty sure, but I don't have a clue honestly. But the old server works, I know that much).

That way it's on a dedicated machine, rather than on my PC. (So no lag spikes when I open Firefox :))

The game's probably gonna have a less serious nature to it. A bit more "fun" than "Tim Burton dark" (which it kinda is at the moment, especially with the storyline).

Bah, I hate HK. D:
I say no, let it stay as it is. It's good, I don't get why you should start over? The same bugs with the scripts would pop up anyway and you'd pretty much just scrap good work, do it all over again and later find that it was useless.

@Necrile
uhm dude, didn't you just release the full game? I mean.. He wanted to make this a commercial game and sell the "full game" and a smaller part would be for free players.
Or something lol.

Wait, restart the eventing and such?

I see what you're trying to do, build something small and then build off that,  and it sounds like a good idea, but  you've done so much already.  You have a huge game.

I do see the pro's for what you're suggesting though, so if you really think the restart is better, that it would take forever to fix the current game, that's probably best.  Maybe eventually you could eventually start moving over quests you've made already one by one and fixing them that way.

I think it's a great idea, even tho I missed the beta so I can't really know, there seemed to be a lot of bugs, so restarting could be just the thing it needs.

well it wouldn't, but I'm assuming that he will rewrite some of the code too. (the buggy parts)

Server Status: ONLINE
after seeing that, I was thinking about a way to make it automatically check if the server is really online or offline, tho it would require php so it wouldn't work here, but you could add it to your website.
tell me if you want it.

PS. you had a nice date to release it on (08-08-08)

It never occured to me it was 8/8/8 'till I posted the "report" :)

That would be useful, seeing if the server was online or offline.

The bugs are in the scripts or something, so how would a graphical remake help?

The bugs are in the scripts, but it is a lot easier to test such scripts if there aren't a few hundred maps to test one by one.

It's not just the bugs - the amount of utter shizzle that is in Vengeance is unbelievable. The unencrypted 6 (heh) got a good look at some of that. Unfinished maps, broken storyline sections, bad database work, etc. It would be a lot of work to fix it all, and while I would like to fix everything I would rather have the game released now than in five years time. :thumb:

Oh and my Dad got made redundant a few years ago when the company he worked for went bust, and was left with a load of "assets". He just found Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, which I am installing now and trying out. So the next Beta test will be on the actual server (machine).

... I need to get a static IP address, it changes every three months or so.

A hell of a lot of bugs :(

More than I knew of.

Your quitting?! ... Starting from scratch...? whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

Why don't you just release Vengeneace online even if it has bugs? Who cares somepeople will still play it.

I have done, dl link's somewhere here :)

TONIGHT: SERVER STRESS TEST

Be there or be square

I need as many people as possible (myself included) to log into Vengeance at once, tonight, once the server move is done (I'll be re-routing the IP address to the server rather than my PC).

The server, called Aurora, will be dedicated to Vengeance.

It's stats:

3800+ (2.2ghz I believe) AMD Athlon CPU
Dual Core
64-bit
2048mb RAM (2x 1024mb)
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition (if all goes well)

It will be as soon as Windows Server 2k3 is installed, which knowing Windows, will probably be a couple of hours or so.

(Tonight as in tonight British time; it's 4 PM here now)
