Minor Update: A composer offered to write some music for me, so I now will hopefully be getting some custom music! :)
Thought I'd let you guys know! ^_^
 
Minor Update: A custom allocating/equip + Menu script is under construction.

Also, I need some help with making some custom XP RTP sprites for some of the characters. So, if you have talent in that area, I'd appreciate your help. :)

I have some constructive criticism of only one of your characters. I understand that you want to avoid cliches, (I think you have plenty of them), but my biggest problem is in doing so you created an unrealistic situation. Why in the HELL would Shila Hamon even hang around him, if she LOATHES THE MAIN CHARACTER!? There is no reason, except being neighbors for them to even hang out and they aren't children any more. I would suggest another reason why they aren't getting together, which is so easily done. He could think of her as a sister, and to even think of her like that would be sickening in his mind.

Or since she's bossy as hell, he could think she's a good friend, but not girlfriend material. Or it could just never come up! Who says that there has to be a love interest? Men and women CAN BE JUST FRIENDS. You'll do what you want, since it is your game, but I thought I'd bring that up.

(Even though I think the silent hero stuff like Crono, you never really get to know what he feels, or thinks of a situation. The girl was the main thing I kept thinking of when I went into this topic.) Otherwise, you are doing a great job on your maps, and working on the parts that will be important to the game later, for some consistency.
 
Wow! Thanks, I need feedback like that. I would really like to know if there is anything I can fix. About the Shila Hamon case, I am still thinking about that. This topic serves as a way for me to express my latest ideas on how this game is going to progress. It's like a piece of moist clay. I am still in the process of shaping it, because there is no true shape. Make sense?
I think you missed the announcement that Elias is now going to be a "non-silent" protagonist. I decided that having him silent would only reflect laziness on my part.

All in all, this game is still in the process of being thought out, over the course of time, you'll find that many key things such as, character art, characters themselves, storyline will change. So keep reading the main topic every time I update, just so you guys don't miss a revision of some sort. ;)

Are you guys appreciating the art? I don't understand why it's not getting any comments. Would you guys like me to get it colored a.s.a.p.?

Yeah, it does. (I guess I did miss that announcement about the main character.) In the end, I'm sure this will be a nice game to play, after all the shaping.
 
I may be uploading a video demonstrating some of my own custom picture animations, but the video quality is not as good as I would like it to be, and the sound doesn't work for some reason. Until I can figure a better way to make a video, then I'll post it.
 
Wait, why does Rim have animal-like claws even though he is supposed to have no animal-like features. Also once again dont try to make stuff so original that it doesnt make sense (pretty much what the person above said). Tweak your story some, but the screenshots look great.

:psy: on an unrelated note, why is there a psyduck smilie?

As I said before, 90% of the artwork is going to be re-done/fixed. ;)
 
Well, the project is coming along. I have been very busy with school.
The art gallery has been updated with an example of the hand-drawn monster graphics that I am going to have.
More art will be posted later today.

Suggestions?
 
Don't worry, this project isn't dead. I have been really busy, and production time has been slow.
I have some screenshots showing off my own "picture" animations. They use pictures done by me instead of actual animation sequences.

Note: The battle screenshots are beta; everything is in "Test" mode, in a way.

I will admit that I need some spriting assistance with this project. If any of you are pretty good at spriting character sheets, then I will appreciate your help. :)

Good news! This project isn't dead. I have been dreadfully busy with school and what not. My CBS is in its beginning steps. It's not completed yet, but I have a screenshot for you to marvel at. My programmer did an excellent job so far. The menu system is almost done too. Anyway, here is the screenshot.

It is not going to look this way once the demo is released, but it's still being played with. It is still devoid of it's custom feature, but that's coming soon as well. I am going to have custom graphics placed in and custom monsters designed as well, so no default and overused stuff! :)

Once the custom aspect of the CBS is done, then I will explain how that works.
Also, I am in desperate need of an experienced spriter to so some charactersets.

My composer is currently writing four custom battle themes in addition to a town theme. The battle system is still in development and artwork is still being worked on.

To reiterate myself, I am in dire need of a spriter who can make character sets.
