The video you linked though was terrible. I played VP myself, so you can't play that card on me. You should have chosen a video that goes right to the platforming/battle action if you wanted to demonstrate.

This is awesome if there is a english version I'm getting it or if not cracked version for sure cough cough! I will also be getting an XNA membership if i get this too just because i want to see my games on the xbox lol! I've wanted to do that with rmxp games for a long time!
 
the graphics look dreadful.  so the RTP will likely blow.

anyone that wanted/wants to make an action game with RMXP could/can do so.

Someone is working on a castlevansia side scroller right now... and another person
has a completed scrolling shooter called U.S.G. i beleive...

i'm guessing it will make this genre easier to do for some ... but it isn't like these things
weren't already possible.  I am working on an action game in RMXP right now and from what
i've seen, it will have more detailed real-time combat that what the screen filled with the same tree and the little pond show with the horrid looking white sword protruding from the little knobby 95 rpgmaker figure.

not impressed.  especially if they reduce the tileset limitations or screw with the 640x480
resolution possibilities of RMXP.

First thing first, i'm amused that Enterbraind is not wasting time, and is doing a tool after another. It's good to see them work on something. Also, they are REALLY fast, if we count that the tool is gonna be relased in 2 months or so.

The bad thing is as someone previously said, the Runtime Pakage. It's bad, i dont like the style. I hope that the sprites can be bigger than that and you can do easly your custom HUD.

Also, i hope that you can pick as the field play the platformer, and as battle the action one. Or you can instance the action RPG so when you touch a monster you are teleported to a battle arena to fight like Star Ocean/Tales of. Multiple party members? Skills? Magics? I hope that it's fairly customizable trough scripting.

I'm really going after this tool, it seems amazing. Also, the add-onn option make me dream constant Enterbrain updates with new things and maybe special buyable updates.

Play your RPG games on the XBOX is one of the best thing ever made.

EDIT: For the love of god, in the database section PLEASE pick up what you have learned with RMXP/RMVX. So pick up max level, dont max the level to 99 pls, what's the point for limiting the level, or the HP etc. Limit it to 99.999 at least.

I'm more concerned about the arbitrary limits when editing skills. Why can't I put a higher number than 100 in the PDEF-F slot for example? I can think of situations where I would want to do that. I pretty much always edit the damage and to-hit algorithm anyway, but this limitation in troublesome anyway. Often I can't make 100 be 100% because there are skills that I want to exceed 100%, so I have to make so that maybe 50 in a certain tab means 100% of the stat is used. It works, but it's more troublesome than making 100 mean 100% and I don't understand why there's a limit of 100 on so many of the tabs.
 
Well, it looks neat. Other versatile and simple game makers have been around for years and it's kinda funny how some people are so excited about this.

It's a nice break from their generic RPG Makers, but knowing Enterbrain they are likely to encourage their coloring book approach with a limited interface and generic default systems; while plugin or scripting support might help with that, the majority of games will be pong and mario clones, just like the majority of Game Maker games. I agree with the point that a generic GAME is better than a generic RPG, but a bad game is still bad. This new maker isn't at all that impressive when you think about it that way. In the end, the maker is a tool, it takes a good game designer to make a good game regardless of the engine.

XNA support and the broader appeal of this maker are bound to bring in new blood, however, and maybe push people to think in terms of actual game design. So I guess it's good news. I wonder if C# plugins are supported.

Sample graphics are not indicative of the RTP. Even if they were, so what? You should be making YOUR OWN GRAPHICS.

Secondly, RMXP isn't designed for these kinds of games. It's true you can get around with it through scripting, but you're MISSING THE POINT. This program will make it easier to make platformers/shoot-em-ups, etc. It's meant for people who DON'T want to do a ton of scripting (kind of like Rm2k/3 for platformers, I assume). I'm certain it will allow scripting, though, especially since it has XBOX 360 support.

And about it already being possible... no shit. You can make RPG's with Game Maker, if you want, probably much better than you can with RMXP (which has a laggy, crappy framerate).

Also, Enterbrain's AGM page states it will allow multiple resolutions (most likely 640x480 will be allowed, maybe even HIGHER?).
